They are IFB. Hyles FBCHammond HAC flavor. And many IFB do NOT have anything to do with Gothard. Although someone posted that this church historically sent their people to Gothard seminars (not confirmed). IFB - the I means independent. They can go on their own tangent and still be IFB.

I also read that. Something along the lines of all staff were required to attend his seminars.

To the bolded: yeah, when I originally suggested "RU there?" I was hoping it would encompass both RU and our questions as to whether that's even where he is, lol. I'm thinking that Josh doesn't have a clue about God. Nor give a damn. His dad is the dood to deal with, since he's holding the purse strings. Anything else is, and always has been, lip service only.

As far as I know, character transplants aren't available yet. And pretty much nothing else would/can save his sorry ass, either temporally or heaven-wise.

Yeah, I loved the Judy Blume reference, but not only is FJ not looking for God in this thread but as someone else pointed out, it is unlikely that Josh is really looking for God at all. :naughty:

On the other hand, it is unlikely that God is looking for Josh. (If we discount the all-knowing thing, my husband suggests that God may not be in a hurry to find him.) :whistle:

Seriously, I think he is in some kind of fundie "retreat" (can't really call it rehab) but I am not sure he is at RU. (If he is, then he is clearly not doing the regular program.). I find it hilarious that the media keeps mentioning RU as a fact when it has not been definitely confirmed. (And most of the media doesn't seem to have noticed that the "watching porn" was edited back into the confession on the Duggar page. Lazy reporters.) :wink-kitty:

I'm of two minds. Last week I did think was hilarious, in part because those terrible non-consensual displays were so horrible and mock-worthy. But the point about families tuning in is well taken. I tend to agree most of them are probabably not following comments, but what if they are?

On the other hand, I also agree that this is an opportunity to get at how terrible their whole approach is. I honestly think that the person who got them to admit they don't let Catholics use their "brand" performed a useful service. (Not sure if that was a PTV or FJ poster). Ditto for the posters calling out the sexism of the sermon. The media isn't doing its job on RU and this is a chance to interact directly with them and get them to more fully reveal how super shady and dreadful they really are.

On the other other hand (I believe I have three hands now!) a lot of the comments weren't doing much in getting them to reveal their approach or theology, etc. (which is hard anyway bc they ban anyone they suspect is trolling--you have to be fairly churchy in couching those questions.) And I really didn't like jokes about CIsco's weight even indirectly ("Crisco"?) There's enough fat-shaming in the world, and he says he struggles with food addiction. Surely there's plenty to mock about these terrible sermons without bringing in personal appearance?

Taking my freakish and indecisive 3 hands and shutting up now.
