What do you all think of Josh's 'porn addiction'?

Whether or not he's literally addicted or just horny I think it's easy to draw the conclusion that it's become compulsive, i.e. that's his go-to, because this is what he's been up to since he was a teenager. I agree with those who say a.) He was probably told marriage would fix it and he believed that, b.) on some level he did probably want to stop while simultaneously finding he also overpoweringly did not want to stop, so it could feel to him like an addiction rather than just a manifestation of his upbringing, surroundings, and lack of satisfaction for his urges.

In other words, I tend to agree that in another environment, he probably would be just any other guy who happens to enjoy sex, and a lot of it.

I think the thing that's the most troubling for me is that if he is at Bible rehab, he's literally there for a thorough "rebrainwashing" and "reindoctrination." It probably even feels good to get reprogrammed - safe even. I think it's easy to forget that in spite of everything he's just another victim of spiritual abuse and right now is getting further spiritual abuse as I type this.Who knows what he'll even be like when he comes back. Probably creepily drinking his own kegger of the koolaid and a little starry eyed and vacant. If he sticks with it and doesn't jail break it could be years before he starts to wake up again. :(

Re the bolded: Yes, absolutely. The guy is disgusting but he is also a victim. And the "solution" of "Christian" rehab, as practiced by these people is a form of brainwashing which, though engaged in with his consent, is a repetition of the emotional and spiritual abuse that led him to where he is now.
