Of course Ken says the Duggars did good because they did what he would have done. Not a concern for the victims forced to live with their abuser and make happy faces for the camera.

I'm not sure how Gil and Kelly will respond, but I have a feeling they are evaluating exactly how much alone time teenage Josh spent with their older daughters. It's doubtful he actually did anything, but the recent revelations had to have scared the hell out of them.

Gil and Kelly have their problems, but Gil does seem protective of his daughters. I'd be surprised if he's not reeling from this news, and questioning how much he could ever trust Jim Bob again for hiding this.

It is entirely appropriate, however, for Josh to remain within the church unit, and the family unit, (to an extent) while receiving the help and counseling which he really needs Tossing him out of the family or Church will simply sever him from ANY support he has, while making it more difficult for him to receive appropriate treatment. One of the biggest barriers to treatment is to send the offender away from the support group he has; to just hash it out on his own.

It's VERY FUCKING INAPPROPRIATE to have kept him within the family unit when so many of the kids in that family unit were his victims. Not severing him forced his victims to be revictimized and to have to live in fear. Basically toss their feelings and needs under the bus to make sure the molester has the support he needs. The girls don't need support. They don't need to feel safe as long as their brother stays under the same roof as always so that he's happy and comfortable.

He SHOULD have been sent away. His parents could have visited him, and later, the kids who were comfortable enough. Instead he stayed home, and his victims had to face him. No. Just NO.

Janet and I want to affirm our support for the Duggar family. Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, 'inexcusable,' but that doesn’t mean 'unforgivable.' He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story. Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things. The reason that the law protects disclosure of many actions on the part of a minor is that the society has traditionally understood something that today’s blood-thirsty media does not understand—that being a minor means that one's judgement is not mature. No one needs to defend Josh’s actions as a teenager, but the fact that he confessed his sins to those he harmed, sought help, and has gone forward to live a responsible and circumspect life as an adult is testament to his family’s authenticity and humility. Those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins in order to discredit the Duggar family have actually revealed their own insensitive bloodthirst, for there was no consideration of the fact that the victims wanted this to be left in the past and ultimately a judge had the information on file destroyed—not to protect Josh, but the innocent victims. Janet and I love Jim Bob and Michelle and their entire family. They are no more perfect a family than any family, but their Christian witness is not marred in our eyes because following Christ is not a declaration of our perfection, but of HIS perfection. It is precisely because we are all sinners that we need His grace and His forgiveness. We have been blessed to receive God’s love and we would do no less than to extend our love and support for our friends. In fact, it is such times as this, when real friends show up and stand up. Today, Janet and I want to show up and stand up for our friends. Let others run from them. We will run to them with our support.

No, there are plenty of other reasons to bring this up - one of which is related to justice for the victims. Another is that there are people who idolize the Duggars, including the repressive nature of their education on sexuality. The fact Josh may have preyed on five girls and this was kept secret for 12 years while the family ran a successful television show which sold based on their sterling characters - no, people didn't bring that out to destroy Conservative Christianity; they brought it out to illuminate hypocrisy.

They also sent Joshua away for awhile to do hard labor on a farm, then had him speak to a policeman who used his discretion not to file a report.

This is a huge issue. This is a current reason this needs to come to light. Who is the cop-friend who decided, on his own, to help cover this up? Is that officer still an officer? If so, he needs to be booted.

This also shows that the Duggars have enough clout to get the law to bend to them, which makes them even more dangerous.

Erin and one other Bates daughter traveled with Bill Gothard when he went to another country. It was on a now gone IBLP blog about the trip. I think Kelly mentioned it on the original blog and, I could be wrong, but Gothard paid for them to travel with him. I think it was the trip where Bill claimed to teach brain surgeons how to do their job. This trip took place before RG went public with the accusations against Bill, but after the BoD had heard enough rumors that they went on their own and asked Bill to stop requesting teen girls as his traveling companions. He ignored them, of course, and Gil sent his own daughters off with the man. Bill handpicked the people on the BoD and Gil was the sort of man he wanted around, which tells us a lot about what sort of man Gil is.

Im really curious on and if how the older girls will comment? Or maybe they will do an interview with Barbara Walters then write a book on how Jesus helped their family tru this Dark time? Probably paid interview. ..

We can all do the math and guess who the victims were, so I'm curious to see if any of the children will have something to say... doubt they will be allowed to speak on it , especially since Michelle said ur responsible if u dress not modestly for someone else unpure thoughts. And since they all dressed modest it couldn't posibly be their fault, could it...

i really doubt they will be allowed to answer why are they continued belie those things.... I would had though the married girls would atleast change some, especially after all they went tru. Maybe they r brainwashed after all...

I really would like to see how the girls react to criticism on allowing josh back home and etc..

Not sure if any of the families they are/were friends with knew. I'm sure there were rumors, but Why would u bring ur kids over the Duggar home like Kellers if they knew?

P.S. how will j. CAMERON will react?

Here is yet one more reason to bring Josh's molestation to light:

Fundies are ever so happy to tar and feather LGBT people as potential molesters. For example: Michelle Duggar is featured on robo calls denouncing transexuals as possible child molesters. Hypocrisy like this is ugly. So yes, Josh's crime does not get a free pass - even if he was young, even if his sisters/parents have forgiven him, even if God has absolved him of blame. Maybe Michelle and all the rest of the fundies will think twice about accusing an entire community of people of heinous crimes when "the sin" is in their own camp.

That cop/trusted family friend of theirs is in prison for life for possessing child pornography. He is a pedophile. And a trusted family friend. Sigh.

Gil is on the BoD who helped hide Gothard's abuse and then he sent his own daughter's off traveling with the man. I don't think he is very protective at all and I would bet he already knew all about Josh. I don't know why people think that a man who helped protect a guy like Gothard has some sort of high morals when it comes to protecting girls from being molested.

Also dont know if anyone read the police report, but one of the kids did say the child is Spanked with a rod when he/she is bad .. the coo asked if it leaves bruises, and the child replied no"..

Haven't the duggars always claimed they didnt Spank???

I'm all for a quick Spanking. Just a spanking. Nothing that will bruise the kid ir nothing... not sure if they need a "rod""

BUT IM PRETTY SURE THEY ALWAYS CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T SPANK... dont act like u have 19 well behave kids and write parenting books and fail to mention u spanked once in a while.. its like thise hollywood actresses who have the perfect body and clain no plastic surgery. And that they can eat anything they want cuz tehy excersice.

Why didn't the duggar comment on that? Maybe it was overlooked cuz everyone focused o josh

I don't follow the Duggars at all, although I did occasionally read the threads here, but I've checked out this latest development, especially since it made the news on CBS This Morning. I really am speechless at how JOSH is being portrayed as the victim (seriously Fuckabee, you consummate asshole?) and my main takeaway is that no matter how horrible the crime, how flagrant the indiscretion, as long as JESUS!, you're okay. No Jesus? Well then, you can just burn. The amount of hypocrisy here is astounding.

The Rodrigues family is probably pulling up to the Duggar compound as we speak, offering to move into the house for some sweet fellowship, prayer, and fame-whoring.

This is a pipe dream, I realize, but I would love, love, love it if one of these "famous" fundie families issued this kind of a statement:

"We are shocked and horrified by the revelations, confession and subsequent apology of child molestation by Josh Duggar and the coverup by his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. We have read the police report and are sickened by graphic descriptions given by the multiple young victims, some of which appear to be members of the Duggar family. Just as disturbing is the lack of accountability by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar to seek immediate and appropriate counseling for the victims and Josh, as well as their apparent refusal to remove Josh from the home and vicinity of his victims.

We serve a loving, forgiving God; however, the Bible states that He is a just God. While Josh Duggar has asked forgiveness from God and received it, he still has a debt to pay to society. Based on Josh Duggar's statement, it appears as if no consideration has been given to his victims and to the irreparable damage he has caused them.

We implore our readers to pray for the victims of this horrific crime.

Effective immediately, we no longer endorse the Duggar family and we retract any and all support we have given them in the past. While we love them as brothers and sisters in Christ, we cannot overlook the crimes that have been committed. May God have mercy on their souls."

Okay, that may have been a bit dramatic and pretty far-fetched but how shocking and awesome would it be to have someone (like the Maxwells!) make a statement like that?

Yeah, I'll go back to smoking crack now.

ETA: Speaking of the Maxwells and Zsu, am I correct in remembering that both of them have posted pictures of themselves with the Duggars on their blog at some time in the past? We know the Maxwells are the world's busiest blog scrubbers, so I wonder if those pics are still anywhere to be found. Not really sure if Zsu is a scrubber or not......except when her husband shows up at the Thanksgiving table in his underwear.

I can imagine that Jill is trying to figure out a way to use this to bring attention to herself.

I can't believe Huckabee is standing with them, especially considering the political climate right now... what a horrible political maneuver.

My predictions:

Maxwells will slink away and scrub the blog of all Duggar mentions. Nothing else.

We already know what Lori thinks... argh.

I think Zsu will come out against them. I really do. Zsu truly hates gays because she thinks they molest kids. She has said she thinks that because our society accepts gays, our society will eventually accept child molesters, and that makes her mad enough to want to kill homosexuals. Zsu is a lot of things, including being wildly opinionated, and she cares about her kids. She wont stand with them.

Now the Bates.... they have a lot to lose. They are heavily associated with the Duggars and also have a show. People will be all over them with a magnifying glass. I am personally of the opinion that Joseph and Tori were special friends. I bet that is ending. Maybe a cryptic post on instagram about forgiveness and the blood of Christ, but thats it, tops. Gil is a grifter, and wants to keep his show. Alyssa is part of a huge political family now. They have grandbabies and weddings, and their show could be the TV sanctuary for the fundies that DO care about this... they will keep their hands clean.

I'm sure you've all heard about the Duggar drama. For those of you who haven't, Josh Duggar has admitted that he did molest 5 girls as a teenager, 4 of whom were his own sisters. More details can be found over in Quiver Full of Duggars. It truly makes me very, very sad for all those girls, who almost certainly were not given appropriate help to heal.

However, around here we have several ARDENT Duggar leg-humpers. Lori Alexander is creepily obsessed with them. Zsu can't let a Duggar story hit People Mag without defending them against all threats, real and imaginary. Jill Rodrigues seeks them out in person. The Bates....

Who will react first? Will they condemn the Duggars or defend them? How much did the Bates' know? Will they cut ties or grow closer? We're bound to have a good deal of fundie reactions, so I wanted to start a mega-thread to compare and discuss them.

Just to be clear, I don't mean for this to discuss the issue itself (as that is going on over at QF Duggars), but the reactions of the various families here to the confession.

The Anderson children started marrying and fornicating each other at a very young age.

PP will find a biblical justification for the Duggars, trust me.

Note the bolded. Everyone does make mistakes, and for Josh, this was HUGE. Please remember that there is a difference between excusing his behavior and supporting him.

There will be those who totally excuse the behavior, and that is WRONG.

Edited to remove opinion.

I have had sibling sexual abuse cases. Leaving the abusing sibling in the home was not considered a safw option period. He could have lived with another relative while getting real treatment.

Here's another reaction. This blogger is generally quite vanilla and her comments are in the same vein i.e. forgive him because Jesus or as she says:

"There are murderers, liars, drug users, adulterers, hypocrites, prostitutes, homosexuals and pedophiles asking if they are forgivable. Because if Josh’s sins are unforgiveable then so are theirs.

Praise God, we know that that isn’t true."

What these idiotic leghumpers don't get is that it's not at all about the question if Josh can be forgiven by God (and even by his own victims) or not. That's up to God and his victims.

What people are furious about is the way this whole crime was handled by Boob and J'Chelle, and the fact that they (Josh and his parents and now stupid leghumpers) still try to downplay it and forget about the victims and their suffering.

Edited because of my stellar grammar.
