Goodbye Uriah

Just at first glance, here are my thoughts:

Nobody but family and some old people there. Who are they?

Elissa is teeny-tiny! She looks happy.

Joseph didn't bother to change the colors of the walls that Elizabeth picked. Hm.

The kitchen looks nice, but I hate most of the tile. The miniature subway tile over the stove is lovely, the rest of it? Ugly.

And what is it with them and their countertops? They can do so many things right with cabinets and flooring and windows, but why the laminate countertops? If you're going to remodel, go the extra mile on the countertops and get something solid-surface.

Bonus points for Anna not wearing the side pony-tail. I guess she was having a bad (or is it good?) hair day?

Cute striped shirts on the girls. Those sequined hearts must drive Steve batty, though. So, SO defrauding!

The Biblical cake looks good

They really are trying to re-create the '50's lol. Housewarming party... did you polish the silver?

just, so stiff and formal. Suitcoats?

The setup of the chairs with people talking and drinking coffee is bringing on overwhelming bad flashbacks to home church experiences as a little kid. Home should be a place of relaxation, not a place where grown ups discuss scary things like God's judgement and conspiracy theories and all their worst fears about the government while kids try to play quietly and not make a mess, overhearing what they don't understand; frightened.

"There were also light refreshments for those who wanted them.".

Sarah's writing strikes again. I guess this means the guests weren't FORCED to eat the light refreshments? Why even mention "for those who wanted them"? Those little melted sandwiches look disgusting.

I feel like this is a Maxwellism. I think I've seen similar wording on the blog several times, and I, too, thought it was weird.

blog.titus2.com/2013/10/23/cooking-with-anna-a-meal-plan-on-the-road/: "Nobody was very hungry so we had leftovers and smoothies for those who wanted them."

I think we have established that food photography isn't the Maxwell's forte.

I'm still trying to figure out what that mess was! Blech. It gives me a stomach ache just to look at it. And that was at the wedding reception. Unbelievable.

I spy Elizabeth's cranberry colored wall! I'm so tempted to mail them a nice wedding card, "Congratulations Joseph and Elizabeth!" :fsm:

Joe got what he wanted, a woman to cook, clean, and "satisfy" his needs. Didn't really matter who, just someone to fill the roll...

Why do we only see pictures of Steve holding Joshie? Never Ruthie, or Nat's girls, only Joshie.....

I thought Elissa's outfit was cute. The ham sandwiches actually look pretty good to me but I am trying to figure out what is in the punch bowl.

Me too! Why is that lemonade so ... frothy? Maybe I should comment on the blog. :wink-kitty:

On another note: That pic of the ABC girls with Drew is adorable. All of the girls look genuinely happy to me. (In other pics people have said that Abigail has dead eyes. Doesn't look like that to me in this pic.)

I'm guessing no.

I didn't even see that writing on the bib! I hope the girls get to choose their own path in life, but don't think that'll happen. :(

ETA: Free the ABC girls!

To the poster above - there are plenty of pics on the blog with Steve and the girls. He does seem to be an engaged and hands-on grandparent.

I heading to the Bitch Corner to take up permanent residency because Joshua still looks *NOT CUTE* to me. I just can't believe the same family that produced the stunning ABCs produced Joshua. I guess the mom's genes are much stronger than the Maxwells, so he looks like NR-Anna's family?? I AM NOT SNARKING ON A CHILD. i swear i am really not. I guess the gorgeousness of the girls makes Joshua stand out a little bit....

You would think a computer expert would at least label the alt tag with what is in the picture... Looks like it's some yummy frothy DSC_4143

Now wait and let's see if Steveo makes future blogs with tags like GOD and DEATH to get more fans. He has to know that 99.9999% of the traffic to his blog is from heathens like us.

With all the discussion of John's irrigation business, has the folding of Maxwell and Sons Construction been discussed yet? Joseph and John were both listed on the site.

Leavenworthconstruction.com now has this statement: "Unfortunately, we are not accepting work anymore. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

So how is Joseph going to support a wife and oodles of potential kids?

Perhaps 1TonRamp is doing really well.

I am rather surprised that the construction business folded. I thought they had some financial concerns over the lack of conferences scheduled and that led to the family brainstorming mentioned on their blog some time ago. Too much competition? Not enough godly customers? I would imagine that given Christopher's requirements for the weddings he shoots, that they might have similar requirements for customers in their other businesses.

1TonRamp might be doing well but given the prices they charge for their services, it seems they would lose out to competitors on that front too. I had checked out their services out of curiosity and I was surprised at the fees for training that could be obtained at less cost if not free.

Maybe John really is courting and, like the Duggar girls, is just sooooo distracted by all of it that he can't keep up with his jurisdiction work anymore?

Well, irrigation and construction businesses need to be able to provide some kind of service to the costumer that he isn't able to do himself so easily. Which means, you need a serious training and knowlegdge for that. I'm not saying that you need an engineers degree from MIT for that kind of job, but at least some college education or/and a high-quality apprenticeship at the good company who shows you the ropes.

It's really not surprising if such a Maxwell business crashes. After all, they probably operate on a level which everybody can easily reach with a bit of SOTDRT and two books from the local library.

Not a new observation at all: but dammit, Steve - Sarah so clearly, so badly wants a "cozy, inviting home" of her own. :angry-banghead:

I think the drink is some kind of punch with sherbet in it.

I'm still betting that Steve is getting a rattle for Christmas from Joseph and Elissa.
