The Truth About Ruth - Part 4

At least it's not about diarrhea anymore ;)

Thread drift is one of the best things about FJ, IMO. I dislike sites that get really uptight about being "off topic" and we always eventually get back to the topic at hand.

I have found the thread drift if often very educational. I always seem to learn something new and am amazed at the knowledge base we have here :)

Back to something Ruth-related.

So my curiosity got to me and I started snooping around PM's Facebook. I found her daughter and found it interesting how she lists PM's two ex-husbands as her father, but someone named [redacted] [PM's ex's last name] as her "Mother".

Looks like her kids (or at least the older daughter) disowned their mother. Which proves the prevailing notion that she must have been whacked out of her tree / batshit crazy. Moreover, on PM's fb page, her kids are both listed as pending (she is not listed at all on their fb pages) whereas eldest daughter has all her other relatives (including both her "dads" and what i presume to be 2nd ex's new wife, as her mother) listed.

She does, however, seem to have inherited her mother's love of theme parks.

Poor kids. They seem close with each other though.

He qualified for Medicaid to pick up the entire bill, it was a relatively stress free process. He got the Medicaid for only this illness and bill based on his income. If my son qualified then surely Ruth would.

This is a big misconception about medicaid. I was dirt poor when I was Ruth's age and had kidney stone issue that required a procedure that cost $19,000. I got the bill and of course was unable to pay any of it. I called the hospital with no result and was not able to qualify for medicaid because I was single. I lived in a tent in the summers (my choice) and shared rooms in the winter and it wasn't an awful life, I made some of my best friends at that time but it took me a very long time to pay that bill. If you are single with no dependents you will not qualify in most states without being disable, no matter how poor.

When I recently moved ( to care for family) I was unemployed and needed health insurance. I could not qualify for a private plan due to pore-existing conditions. I have money now and a home that I own debt free so I need some medical to cover the "big things", I can cover my upkeep and can cover a large bill but a big one would take all I have worked for. So I looked toward the state and my only choice is their pay for medicaid plan at $700 a month. So I paid for the worst medical care I have ever received because I was worried about the $1 Million problem. All I wanted is some sort of major medical coverage with a huge deductible that will cover my ass during a major health crisis but I couldn't qualify. I now have a job with benefits and it is all good again.

You can be low income and get Medicaid in some states. In others, however, you have to have a child or be disabled, it depends on the state and what their rules are.

Don't mean to drag the thread back on topic ;) but I just remembered something - don't think it's been mentioned so far.

Remember when Ruth's dad died? She posted something about him refusing conventional treatment and doing some bizarre quack 'cure' which resulted in him starving and becoming emaciated. I am absolutely certain that we discussed this same quack 'cure' in a thread here a few weeks prior to Ruth posting about her father following the same protocol. Someone mentioned Ruth getting the lesbian adoption idea from here, well I think she got the idea of the circumstances of her dad dying from here too.

you have to be both disabled and low income here. When I tried to get it for my daughter I was just hoping for medical not cash allowance just so our insurance would be her secondary. The co-pays for dr visits and her rx's meds along with what we pay for pull-ups a month are equal to what we pay for rent. With a medical card all those would be paid along with over the counter meds, pullups wipes etc. Medically she qualifies due to her disabilities she has several "red flags" a term they used, that pop up she qualifies under. However she does not get assistance due to dh income. If dh and I were to split she would then qualify but I would not, I would no longer have insurance or be able to work due to caring for her but I would not qualify simply because I would then have no income and children, one disabled. Mental health dx , depression, ADHD and such also will qualify you under medical here. Dental is a big issue here period... we are in short supply of dentists. The ones we have over charge what is acceptable. We have dental but getting into a dentist is always a wait. Once you get in no matter what they want all out of pocket paid up front its sad. There are no schools around here but once a year they bring a group of traveling students in to try to help those who have gone without so long. If you have a medical card it doesn't help you because very very few dentists take those. We have one pediatric dentist here though who will ONLY see kids with a medical card. Private insurance you pay upfront and try to get money back on your own. We have to travel a bit to get dental care for our youngest. Dental is the most frustrating thing to deal with for us!

That's really interesting. I do recall there were several threads around strange treatments that were potentially fatal a few months ago. I don't recall the particulars though. I wonder how many of her issues could be tied to topics that were popular here at the time?

I wouldn't be surprised, if someone had the inclination to go through Ruth's and FJs archives and we found things that tallied up datewise. There'sa lot oof in depth stuff here about ati. So it wouldn't surprise me if we talked about certain specific things which end up in her blog a few months later.

Also, another thing that pinged my radar was when Ruth claimed she had poor credit because she was "burned" in a MLM scam. Perhaps she got the idea of the MLM from Mckmama....

I have been wondering about the legitimacy of Megan's Polygamy Blog.

I wondered about Kristina. We talked quite a bit here about how she was doing the MLM thing and how many people had been burned by them after she posted about her's here.

I would not doubt if #$%^&, the person behind the RR curtain, didn't pull bits like that from her own life. A lot of the stuff seems to parallel her RW. :cray-cray:

Damn, I'm kinda jealous of the UK if they have dental coverage under their NHS. We do not. I manage because I never go to the dentist unless my teeth hurt, because I am a big baby. I have skipped getting a crown on one tooth because of the cost. The other tooth was my very back molar, so I kind of had to. They let me do a payment plan, though. That's with my husband's health insurance covering half.

We don't. You only get free dental care if you're under 18 and in full time education or receiving certain benefits.

I am so so glad that there is socialised medicine in my country. My sister had a major organ transplant before she even started school. We got free accommodation at the hospital, all sorts of help from the social workers, my sister got top tier care at a paediatric hospital, and the bill came to nothing.

On topic now, sorry, but I'll be interested to see if RR ever starts becoming more active on her blog, or if she's going to shut up shop with that one for good.

I googled "Megan's Polyblog fake" and it looks like that blog is definitely fake.

I always wonder what happened with that. She bragged about how she made so much money and how it was going to keep going that way, but I highly doubt it did. Many people that I know who get involved with those sort of things end up losing money in the end.

I'm on Oregon Health Plan. I'm single, no kids. It has really expanded in the last few years. I have 0 co-pays and no premiums.

The best part, for me, is the mental health. I get to see a therapist once a week and a psychologist once a month. The shrink does my prescriptions. It is really helping :)

I live in NY and am low income, so I get Medicaid. I have no children. My friend lives in RI and is unemployed and the state tells her because she isn't disabled, pregnant or a parent of a child, she cannot get benefits. It sucks for her because she is a type 1 diabetic and she has been in the hospital and stuff and has had charity care, so there's no bills, but she has to pay for all of her diabetic supplies out of pocket. I feel bad for her.

I have been wondering about the legitimacy of Megan's Polygamy Blog.

I attributed that one to Kristina (aka makestheduggarsdirty) getting caught up in an MLM and soliciting customers on FJ.

It depends where you live. In Wales, it's free for under 25s and over 60s. If you're 26-59, appointments are cheaper than in England - £12 compared to £15, and that includes the hygienist!

Just learning about Megan now. How did she make money? Was there a tip jar?

I didn't think she did ever make any money off her blog, did she?

Has anyone done a RR / Megan Polyblog comparison? I'm intrigued now. I know Megan had twins, a horrible ebil father, and mean commentors. And the stoic "voice" is similar...

People have been very suspicious of "Meagan" for a long time, but as far as I know she hasn't made a cent.

She doesn't post often though, and if she was playing a long game and planning to solicit donations to leave she would probably make quite a bit.

One of the reasons I hate MLMs with a passion is because one of my very favorite products - Reliv, a powdered vitamin supplement that is absolutely AMAZING - is only sold through an MLM system, and as a result, it's not nearly as popular as it should be. People immediately think it's a scam and don't want to try it, and I don't blame them. The company could help a lot more people if they just sold it online and in stores, and it would be less expensive, too. When I started taking it I got roped into going to meetings and pushed to sell when that is NOT my personality and is something that I am terrible at. I just wanted to take the damn vitamins.
