Romney's Message Is Changing/Romney Secret Tape (merged)

According to Mittens Romney, 47% of us will vote Obama strictly to keep our "government handouts" coming. He is basing this on a statistical report and, surprise surprise, he hasn't bothered to research or read beyond the first line of the report, apparently. If he had, he would have a fuller, clearer understanding of the numbers he's bandying around but......yeah of course not.

It sounds to me like it's incomprehensible to him that people actually AGREE with some of Obama's policies......this is the only explanation his poor, feeble brain can come up with.

Below is a sample of the (very long) article, which can be found @ politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/17/controversial-private-fund-raiser-video-shows-candid-romney/?hpt=hp_t1 :

In the footage, taped with a hidden camera, Romney argued nearly half of Americans will vote for President Barack Obama because they rely on government support, made apparent jokes about wishing he had Latino heritage, and talks about a Chinese factory his former firm purchased.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

The non-partisan Tax Policy Center estimates that for tax year 2011, 46% of households will end up owing nothing in federal income taxes. But if payroll taxes are counted, the number of non-payer households drops precipitously - to an estimated 18% in 2011.

Adding to his argument about entitlement, Romney said his "job is not to worry about those people."

"I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," he added. "What I have to do is convince the 5 percent to 10 percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful."

David Corn, the journalist who broke the story, said the video he'll release tomorrow will hurt Romney in a different way. I wonder what that means! I think the reason Romney looked so awful at the press conference is because he knows there's more to come. My guess is he either said bad thing about conservatives or he made racist remarks about Obama.

Bolding mine.

Good. I hope the damn video stings worse than lemon juice on a paper cut. I hope it burns more than touching one's peen after chopping chile peppers. I hope it crashes and burns his entire campaign into fucking ash and then lights the ashes on fire before scattering them to the four winds of hell.

For a man with speech writers, publicists, and handlers... He sure does say a lot of things he doesn't really mean.

That's because he's not a politician, He's a wealthy business man who decided to be a politician.

From what I've read this morning, he says "pelestinians really don't want peace" and other foreign policy gaffes.

eta: oh, and he bought a Chinese sweatshop whilst at Bain.

Those are not girls, they are women working in his sweat shop!!! He better be glad they weren't actually girls because the only thing worse than owning a sweat shop would be owning a sweat shop that employed children.

This story will be touted by certain media outlets for the rest of the week. However, it won't be Fox News (they are covering it as Romney worded it poorly, here's what he really meant), which is where many non tax paying Americans (aka the elderly and those who get their money from sources other than wages) get their news. There are many in the 47% who were planning on voting for Romney because the other guy is black, Muslim, socialist, etc., I doubt Romney's statements will change their minds.

Thanks to whomever merged my post with the other one. I read a bit of the other post but I guess I didn't read far enough to realize I was posting something that was already being discussed elsewhere. Sorry!

Leopards don't change their spots, or whatever the platitude is. His message can change and evolve and do a little jig to the tune of 99 Luftballoons, but inside and out, Mitt Romney is still a vapid, ignorant, elitist turd that I look forward to watching crash and burn this coming November.

 THIS post made my morning! Such a way with words.....vapid, ignorant, elitist turd.....brought a tear to my eye. Thanks Mela!

Easiest way for Obama to win? Give Romney a microphone and make him talk. A lot.

Wrong. Easiest way for Obama to win? Own the mainstream media. Oh yeah he already does.

How exactly does he own the mainstream media? When did he buy it? Don't tell me he's secretly Rupert Murdoch!

These aren't gaffes. This is what he really believes and he's finally saying it. As a supporter of Mitt Romney I can tell you that we have been waiting for him to say this stuff for months! But he's been so afraid of the media attacking him on it because they are so in love with Obama and can't stand to hear the other side. Well its getting out now, and even though the media is attacking and acting like its the worst thing for Romney's campaign, its not. His voters have wanted to hear this and they are finally getting to hear it. The "secret" tape release could be the best thing to happen to Mitt. We'll see.

Like Sarah Palin was the best thing to happen to John McCain, right?

If anyone is interested in the full speech video, I did find it on one site...

therightscoop.com/full-press-conference-mitt-romney-addressing-his-remarks-at-a-fundraiser/

Be forewarned however that it is a republican site and the comments will make you stabby.

There was one that gave me a chuckle:

That's right. Freedom isn't free. No, there's a hefty f---ing fee. And if you don't throw in your buck o'five, who will?

because it's from Team America: World Police, but I doubt the many people who "liked" it know that.

I snorted at my desk at this, for real. My boss had to come ask me if I was okay.

Of course Jericho doesn't think it is bad for a president to have owned a sweat shop. Because, hey, the early 1900's when kids worked and died in factories was not only a great time for a poor single mom and her kids, but the country was sooooooo much closer to god back then.

So Jericho, if you are such a mittens supporter... If he gets rid of welfare and food stamps because of the 47% (his words) of the population who will vote to keep Obama in office in order to keep that... what are your plans for people who truly depend on food stamps and welfare to make ends meet? Do you think that Mittens will suddenly make enough jobs for everyone to earn a living wage, or should those people just die in the streets? What should Mittens do in order to help those people survive, or should he do nothing? I'm honestly curious, in your republican world, what happens to those people? Especially what happens to those people in the economy we have now (though it is recovering) where people with degrees can't even find jobs to support themselves or their family. I would love to know your idea of a perfect America under a Republican president.

Blackhawk, jericho lives in this imaginary world where the churches will suddenly just jump in and help the people who need it. Now he ignores that historically this doesn't happen. But this has been his solution so far.
