Okay, I think I've got it now. Rosa's first comment confused me but then she clarified in her second comment.

I thought there would be more sympathy for the original caller since she had apparently realized she was gay only after she left Christianity. I see now that the entire issue was that she did not talk to her husband about it so they could decide on a course of action together. Savage acknowledges that the husband might blow a gasket but she still should have let him know before pursuing another relationship.
