God wrote the Bible in English? Are they really that uneducated about their own religion?

While I have heard that some are, most seem to think that the KJV is a perfect translation of the original Greek/Hebrew texts, because of course a bunch of early 17th century scholars whose sponsor had a political agenda and a phobia of witches would never fudge things, no, never!

Likewise, there are some who believe that the other Bible translations are simply the KJV written for more modern English speakers but all politically-correct'ified up as to not offend the feminists and gayz.

A response from the stalked, to the stalkers...

I am Levi Self. I find it rather disturbing to see that people actually waste their time pointlessly following other people, stalking and talking about people when they could be doing much more constructive things with their time. I do not wish to disclose much more information to you (as a group), as that would only give you a feeling of victory. Instead you may continue to divulge your information from other sources, if so be that you can find it. Some things I think that should be brought out, to proclaim truth, is that my family (spouse and I) DO attend a Biblical Church where we meet every Sunday and Wednesday, where the WORD of GOD is preached and practiced. Our church is not Mennonite, as we hold several key doctrinal issues from the Mennonites, and we dress more modest/plain; but we are very simiular.

My family (parents and sister) on the other hand have stopped obeying the truth, as you have deduced. They do not attend church, they do not read the WORD, and they just barely profess christianity. Removing the headcovering was just one step, but there was a heart problem first. The devil is slick and sly. He is a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Forsaking the assembly was the first wrong step. Rebellion to church authorities, another. An unwillingness to "sell all that he hath" to obtain the kingdom of God (or move to a Biblical assembly of believers), the last straw. God is longsuffering, but as you continually make the wrong choices (instead of walking in the light that you've been given), God will forsake you.

My sister now wears pants, jewlry, listens to wicked music, watches wicked movies, plays wicked games, associates with wicked people. She has turned to the world and forsaken God, given up the faith. Sure, occasionally you'll find that she has "Christian" in her bio on her blogs (etc), but when her works are held up to God's plumbline, she doesn't meet the qualifications to enter that kingdom. I have talked to her about this also, and she chooses rather to remain quiet and cold than talk about spiritual things with me. It grieves my heart to see the way she has turned. It grieves the LIVING GOD. But it also grieves me to see a group of reprobate godless heathens sitting and watching for the next Christian to stumble and fall. You fools! The wrath of GOD is turned toward you!

"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure." - Psalm 2:1,4,5

"He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace." - Proverbs 11:12

"Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour." - Proverbs 14:9

"A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident." - Proverbs 14:16

"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame." - Proverbs 14:34,35

Levi, whoever you are, thank you. Best laugh I've had all week. Honey, I don't think too many are going to be lining up to try and get into the kingdom of heaven if people like you are going to be there. Sounds like your sister and the rest of your family dodged a bullet.

It's a gift is what it is. I don't think I've seen this much potential for entertainment here since Ken wandered over and got his ass handed to him on a godless, feminist platter.

. . . this thread is more than three years old! Is there a zombie smiley?

And yet we're the stalkers...

Levi, I have heard the WORD of the LIVING GOD, and HE declareth in His mighty voice like THUNDER: you need a hobby. Maybe take up kickboxing. Something to channel that rage. Then go to a spa, or something. Have a glass of wine. Relax, man.

Levi, why are you digging up an ages-old thread? I doubt anyone at this board has even thought about you or your family in a good three years. And as you can see by the length of this thread, nobody thought much about any of you when you were discussed. I can only assume by the nature of your post that you are trolling us for a fight.

But hey, thanks for the update! It's always good to know when the people we discuss here free themselves from legalism and allow themselves to worship God freely, as they may. You mistake such an act as "heresy" and "forsaking the faith." I find that very sad.

So, If you were concerned about us "stalking" you before, we're definitely a lot more interested now. Your bad.

Oh, I agree heartily. Jesus certainly had a glass of wine. And, he even dined with sinners. :o Matthew Chapter 9, yo.

Let me try to get this straight. Levi (or whomever he is) chastises the godless, wicked, worldly heathens on FJ, for "stalking" others who volunteer information about their lives online, rhetorically asking if we don't have better things to do with our time? Yet he repeatedly condemns his family members who have changed their beliefs from those he still holds. So his time is well spent overusing the word "wicked" and publicly judging his family?

Even better, GOD AGREES WITH HIM! Yet somehow "Levi" cannot follow the verse he posted and KEEP HIS OWN PEACE. You know, just in case God needs some help in pointing out where everyone else has gone wrong.

Speaking of wicked video games, Steam has their holiday sale going on right now. There are some fantastic deals on every flavor of wickedness imaginable, including a Halo 2 expansion.

Wow.

There really are people who believe wearing pants and jewelry make you a sinner!?

How the hell can you be MORE modest than the mennonites, thats what I wanna know!

Hi Levi. I'd like to tell you a story. It's not a very pleasant story, but it's one I would like you to hear.

When I was 18, I had a regular babysitting gig. Every Friday, I'd babysit a little boy while his mom was out. She was a single mom and worked with small children, so a few hours on Friday nights were here only "grown up time". The mom and dad had broken up before the boy was born because the dad was a violent alcoholic. For the first few months that I babysat there, I always had to screen incoming calls: let them go to voicemail and only pick up if it was mom calling. The other 10-15 calls that would typically come in during a 3-4 hour period were from the dad. The content of his calls was usually the same: demanding to know where the mom was, who she was with, who she was sleeping with, why she was such a bitch and so on. He never once said anything about his toddler son. Not once.

As I said, this went on for several months. One night, the angry calls were coming in way more frequently. Also, the mom's friends called once to say they would be late picking her up. So when dad showed up at the house, mom was still there. Dad screamed through the sliding glass door and then started pounding on it. I will never forget the sound of the glass shattering as he broke through, sending a veritable mountain of broken glass all over the little boy's toys. Mom started dialing 911, but by then dad had entered the house, knocked her down, and ripped the phone out of the wall.

I ran upstairs to mom's room where I knew there was a cordless phone. I grabbed the phone and then went into the little boy's room. He had been sleeping, but woke up and was happy to see me. He thought it was play time. I put on a bright, chipper voice and talked to him about complete nonsense a while I desperately tried to figure out how to turn the phone on. Cordless phones were cutting edge technology back then, and I'd never used one before. As I talked to the little boy about his birthday - he'd turned 2 that week - I drowned out the sounds of screaming from down stairs. Eventually, I managed to get through to 911. While I spoke to dispatch, I also was looking around the room for anything I could use as a weapon. I was an 18 year old ideological pacifist who had never been in a fight, and I was utterly determined that I would kill that man before I let him hurt the little boy in my care.

The police came. Dad was arrested. He resisted arrest. I read in the paper later that he also assaulted an officer of the court. He was on parole. He went to jail for a long time.

Levi, the story I just told you is a story about stalking. Stalking is an ongoing series of harassment, threats, aggression and intimidation. It is often obsessive in nature. It is frequently - but not always - associated with the ending of a romantic relationship. Stalkers display a massive sense of entitlement, often believing their victim owes them something: love, intimacy, sex, etc. Or, they are motivated by revenge against a perceived wrong. Stalkers sometimes escalate their behaviour into physical acts of violence. Being stalked is an ongoing and terrifying situation. Imagine always looking over your shoulder. Imagine the fear every time the phone rings, or there's knock on the door. Imagine fearing for the safety of your child against an utterly irrational person.

You found this thread on Free Jinger about your sister and called us stalkers and yourself stalked. This is a three year old conversation where people discussed their opinions about a public blog. You were mentioned maybe a half a dozen times. Compare your story to the one I just told you. Do they seem similar in any way?

Now, I can't imagine what it feels like to be one of the people who are discussed here on this forum. I bet stumbling across this site is an incredibly uncomfortable experience. I would imagine it feels violating and invasive. I wouldn't like to have my deeply held beliefs picked apart and mocked. That's a big part of the reason I don't blog, have my Facebook privacy settings locked down, and post very few pictures of myself or my family. I wouldn't like to undergo the kind of scrutiny that regularly happens here at FJ.

I do not believe, however, that you can reasonably say that you felt afraid for your safety, or the safety of your family. I do not believe you can reasonably say that you've been threatened, intimidated, harassed or been treated with anything resembling aggression. In other words, you have not been stalked. Your family has not been stalked. To claim that you are the victim of stalking is an insult to people like the mom in my story. She was stalked. You were not.

AmazonSugarPie, thank you for this a million times. That little boy and his mom were lucky to have you in their lives.

I have no idea why the public nature of the world wide web is such a difficult concept for some people to understand. Commenting in PUBLIC forum about PUBLIC comments made in a blog that's available to the PUBLIC does not in any way, shape or form equal stalking or harassment. Levi, get over yourself.

And seriously, a THREE YEAR OLD THREAD and you're just NOW finding it?

I will give him the benefit of doubt here. There was recently another thread about their family. Maybe he read it, took some time to come up with his response, came back and since it's not on the front page, looked it up and pulled the wrong one up.

While sad that Lacys family have completely given up their faith, if what Levi said is true,I'm hoping they just became more relaxed, less judgemental. I'm glad Lacy can wear pants and jewelry and watch movies.

I, too, would give him the benefit of the doubt. Good for him for trying to defend his sister.

Some members of FJ have been stalkerish over the years. If I remember correctly, I think someone even went to a blogger's home.

Lacy sounds like pretty much the average American woman who wears pants, jewelry, listens to pop music and lives out a quiet life as a decent human being.

Levi needs to take a chill pill and get out of his sister's business.

um, when was this? i know there have been a few instances, but i don't remember if anyone actually went to someone's house. boobert certainly cried stalking, of course, but he's a little cry baby. :P

also, maybe this is just me, but i don't consider calling your sister and the rest of your family "wicked" is defending them. i consider that to be publicly denouncing and attempting to shame them (i say "attempt" because here at fj, we encourage such behaviour as wearing pants, jewelry, and watching all kinds of movies as much as the person in question wants to ;) so "omg she's wearing pants and watching movies and playing games" doesn't equate to shame here).

Somebody (either here or on TWOP, I can't really remember) went to an event at the Duggar home--a yard sale, maybe?--with some kind of camera or recording device, posted about it beforehand and was discovered and escorted from the premises. That person was rightly called out on it and few, if any, defended her actions. In fact, almost every time someone's come close to or crossed a line, either ferreting out info or "infiltrating" an event that isn't public, it hasn't exactly been met with high fives.

And yeah, I'm not seeing much in the way of brotherly love from Levi. More like 'let's stone the harlot."

ah, okay. i was wondering if that's what was being referred to. obviously they should have never recorded or took pictures or attempted to do so, but it was an event open to the public, from my understanding, it's not like they walked up to some random person's home and knocked, which is what it was made to sound like. fj isn't a hive vagina, it's not like we're operatives in an undercover mission, but i agree, whenever someone starts crossing the line, they are called on it.
