Anyone else know Lacy? She's 18, lives out in the country on a small farm, had a blog called something like "A Godly Maiden", was wearing a headcovering, had anti-Christmas (and Easter and all fun holidays) posts on her blog in addition to posts saying that she didn't need an education because she knew how to work on the farm and that was all she needed... Now she has a new blog up but doesn't post much, is no longer headcovering, looks a little happier than she used to, and according to her facebook it looks like she's reading books that aren't the Bible. Anyone know what caused the sudden change?

Yes yes yes!! Oh she was one of my gateway fundies but I lost the link and could never find her again! Her brother got married a couple of years ago to a similar girl but after that I reinstalled and lost all my favourite links. I remember her saying she didn't need to learn about equations and fractions - I was all WTF??

Yes! I used to read her blog, then forgot it and when I found her again she and her mother were no longer covering their heads and I can't find information what made them abandon scarves. Their family site used to have a very strong opinioned page about veiling one's head.

His brother married a very plain-dressing girl, her clothes looked like amish with lace highlights. I think they have a kid or two already. Lacy doesn't talk about his brother often, much less after that blog renewal.

Yer welcome! I really want to know what caused her to stop wearing a headcovering. I know for a while she was in the same "Biblical Headcovering" FB page as Candy. Then all of a sudden, she stopped wearing it. Hmm...

She's dressing differently too. She was very much into cape dresses type of clothes, I think most modern she ever got was to wear frumpers. She's now in long skirts and t-shirts. Still very modest but not as extreme fundie looking as she was before.

That's interesting because she was very close to her brother before he got married. When he got engaged she was ecstatic about the prospect of a new 'sister'. I wonder what happened.

Maybe it is a combination both her brother living in another state (IIRC) and that the rest of the family changed their beliefs. I am only guessing but I have a feeling that her brother is the one who is still believing in "the old way". Some rare blog posts mentioning her brother give me this feeling.

I used to read her blog but back when I was a Fundie and friends with Jocelyn Dixon (only via internet), they had a falling out over some doctrine or whatever and also Jocelyn was irate that Lacy had copied her graphics, so I sided with Jocelyn and severed contact with Lacy and her brother.

I don't know what happened with their family. I know Lacy used to say God told her she was meant to be a lifelong single....I wonder if she still believes that.

My first post here was about Lacy. I wanted to know why she wasn't posting more about her brother and his wife Megan (also Lacy's friend) when they were staying with them, etc. Megan still wears a headcovering.

Megan and Lacy met online a few years ago, and Megan went to visit them and they all really hit it off. At the time, they had the exact same beliefs. Levi (Lacy's brother) and Megan started courting, got married, then moved away. They have since moved back and are either living with Lacy and her parents or near them.

Last year while Lacy was trying her blog out on Blogger, she said she didn't want to get married, which I thought was interesting.

ETA: Someone asked her about why she wasn't covering anymore, and she said they reexamined the Scriptures and realized it didn't mean what they thought it did. Her mother no longer covers, either.

Is the little girl in the pictures a younger sister? She is wearing pants. Perhaps a cousin. Ever notice in those fundie families, the grandparents look the most normal?

I think the little girl is a someone they babysit.

Megan, Lacy's sister in law, does wear cape dresses and other types of plain garb, but also wears a lot of tees/polo shirts with long skirts and sweaters. I wonder if there is more than just the headcovering that has changed where Lacy and her parents are concerned. I'm wondering if there are doctrinal differences and that is why she rarely mentions them.

Do you think Levi is keeping a distance between the rest of his family because of the new religious differences or the other way around?

All of them use to be pretty adamant that their way was the RIGHT way.

Bumping this thread instead of making a new one. It seems Lacy and her parents have changed more than I realized. She does things like play Halo 2 in her down time and the family website about how to be saved/be a good christian is gone. I think there are definitely some doctrinal differences between them and their son Levi.

I can tell in the past they did not live this way (not sure if they were Christians or not then), but it seems that the cape dresses/head coverings/extreme separation part of their life is over. I wonder what brought the changes about. I know they reexamined what the Bible had to say on headcoverings.

I was excited to find her blog again, and see that she looks like she's giving herself a bit more freedom now.

She says a video by Michael Pearl helped her understand why covering isn't necessary, which has dulled my excitement a bit. :roll:

Yes, but maybe not in the way you mean. There is a segment of the KJV-only movement (some call them Ruckmanites because one of the main supporters of it is a guy named Peter Ruckman) that believes the KJV is "more correct" than the original manuscripts - that God inspired the translators to correct "errors" in the original texts, making the KJV a perfect translation. Of course, the KJV translators themselves did not believe that, but most of these people haven't bothered to read the translator's preface that explains that.
