This was in reference to Ted Haggard. I agree with everything you posted but the quote above deserves its own post. A lot of harm could be prevented if this were an acceptable outlet.

Something else that’s stood out to me about the pool boy story is he was 20! Yeah technically he was above the age of consent but he was 20!

Exactly. Predation by either sex on a much younger person of either sex is still predation.

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is pretty racy! Not Melania nude-soft-porn because "swimsuits," but still.

I was kinda shocked by the bikini photos, because nothing says "paragon of modesty Liberty U. gal" like posting a "I'll flaunt it 'cause I got it" pic on social media, in a tiny bikini.

I realized when you wrote this that I hadn't actually ever looked inside the swim suit edition of Sport Illustrated. As it happens, we had the most recent version in our stack of magazines, because we started getting it when a magazine we had subscribed to folded.

I flipped through it, and saw lots of scantily clad women who needed a few good meals and who had improbable bust measurements compared to the rest of their physique. However, I also saw a variety of body types and skin tones that I did not expect, including women who would have made Paul Rubens swoon. The photography was excellent, and much more playful than objectifying (if one is willing to grant the supposition that depicting the female form is not objectifying in and of itself.) There was even some swim attire that completely covered the skin for those who have cultural expectations of modesty. My favorites were probably the women who actually looked like athletes modeling swimwear instead of models.

Good to know! I haven't seen an issue in many years.  Sounds like they've improved from the past, when it was just T & A.

Yeah there's a quote for every occasion.

YeahTheresAQuoteForEverything.thumb.jpg.476a8f0b78ebc38a191070759465c8d2.jpg

Especially in his own family.

And now I wish I had screenshot that Liberty U tweet about what courses we all were looking forward to because said U sent that tweet to the prayer closet.

Not sure how reliable this source is, but Jerry Falwell, Jr. is now saying that his wife *did* have an affair with the pool boy, which led to depression on his part and extortion attempts from the pool boy.

The link includes a statement allegedly from Falwell Jr.

This is a report on what sort of bias , and level of reliabity the Washington Examiner has .  https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/washington-examiner/  And here are a couple videos covering the pool boy situation .

So last night at the RNC, one Natalie Harp, a Liberty University alumna, credited Trump with having saved her life by signing the Right to Try bill, which allows desperately ill people to take medications that have not yet been approved by the FDA. In Harp's case, it was an immunotherapy drug, after two different chemotherapy drugs had failed to stop her bone cancer.

Two things wrong with her statement.

  • She received an drug that had already been approved by the FDA although not for her condition. This off-label use was common in cancer therapies long before the Right to Try law was written to help patients gain access to drugs that have not been “approved or licensed by the FDA for any use.”
  • Two months before Trump signed the law, Harp had already tweeted about being on this drug.

Just a reminder that you can't spell Liberty without  L I E.

The Netflix documentary on Jerry Jr. is going to be wild.

And I am getting in popcorn stocks now.

I hope everything comes out. I don’t care if people are a little kinky, just don’t be a hypocrite and abuse your power. The students deserve better.

Yes. And while there are a few verses in the Bible about sexual morality, but there are also quite a number about hypocrisy, many said by Christ.

Some gems from the reddit linked by @hasunah  There's always going to be that ONE contrarian.  Is this a Christian philosophy  major or a seminarian or a Falwell family "friend"?

*Won’t it be hypocritical for social liberals to judge him based on his sexual preferences?

*He'll be judged for his ugly hypocrisy, not his sex life. Using money and power to buy sexual favors is far from a new human pastime, but it sure is a barn burner if the person doing it is condemning others for it at the same time.

*Jerry Fallwell jr's entire life is arrogant hypocrisy, pretending to follow Christ, screaming and blaming others for their sins, greedily piling up cash, being the leader of a huge Christian University, leading prayers all the time.. All the while he invested in seedy motels and zero morals, which is the tip of what we know.

*That strikes me as ironically Puritanical and hypocritical to infer he has zero morals from the cuck story, unless I missed something....

*Lol you convince a bunch of people they’re closer to God because they spend money to attend your school, have considerable influence and money within the conservative political sphere, and somehow you still have morals after being exposed for being a cuck?

*Zero morals implies an utterly amoral person. I can't infer that from this juicy tabloid story bub

Yeah I don't give a flying fornicate what consenting adults do in private.  That said Jerry and the rest of the GOP made careers out of sitting in judgement over the specks in the eyes of others all while ignoring the fornicating log in their own eyes so I have no problem calling them out.

Looks like Jeffrey Epstein & Ghislaine Maxwell have nothing on the Falwells Jr.

:shocked:  at this rebuttal from Granda (the pool boy):

What pisses me off the most about this is Liberty U will continue on as though nothing’s happened and the kids who go there will continue being fined if they step out of the hyper authoritarian abusive box they’re expected to conform to.

Most of my fundie-lite family and friends aren't saying anything other than general comments about how sad they are for the Falwell family. One of them posted on Facebook that the people criticizing Falwell publicly aren't acting as Christians should. They seem to think he should have been confronted privately but the story shouldn't have been publicized.

This infuriates me.  These evangelicals do realize Jesus was very hard and dam near scathing to hypocritical religious leaders, don't they? That he actually held them to a higher standard than ordinary sinners?

Assuming that they are referring to the Matthew 18 principle.

So, how would Matthew 18 actually work in this instance? Does the pool boy confront Jerry? Does Jerry confront Becki? Does Becki confront the pool boy? Do they have a three-way confrontation? Does the LU board then confront Jerry, one by one or all against one?

That is pretty much what I'm hearing too. The family needs privacy. This is a sad situation. We need to leave them alone to heal in peace. This is a private matter. No one seems to be horrified about what he did, just horrified that it is all out in the open and the world is talking about it.

If my family started spouting off like that I'd tell them to go fornicate themselves and point out how Jerry and his ilk made their fornicating careers out of judging others even when the people involved deserved privacy so Three Way Jerry and his family deserve everything they get.  You know if any Democratic figure was caught up in a scandal even remotely similar to this these people would not hesitate to attack so fornicate them.
