Miss Raquel: Saving the "Natives" One Latte at a Time

@dripcurl It's more attention seeking behaviour; it's just really blatant on this occasion. How does Raquel benefit from anyone's opinion anyway? I doubt she'd take on criticism regarding her writing, and anything else will be mean comments and/or gushing compliments.

I think my thoughts about Raquel's poetry should stay as thoughts. [emoji57]

Edit to say: if it's just one word to affix to her poetry it may be simpler to do, but still ... [emoji848]

She made a new blog entry.  It begins with a warning not to read if you’re under 18.  And then talks about hit gut who turned out to be a jerk.

(This in no way is a platform to drag my ex’s identity through the mud.  He had no way of knowing or controlling his behavior because when an individual is as hurt and broken as he was, blindness is a common factor in their life.)

But she really wants to drag him through the mud. She always does this. She finds a hot guy and then when the relationship ends she always says the guy was  a jerk and she writes about him.

Interesting, thank you for the info. Per her Instagram she is going through some sort of emotional upset right now, so she’s probably had another break up and felt the need to send out such an email.

Also, she just made a Facebook post bragging about how her mom would speak a blessing over her every night before bed. I don’t know if this helped her bit be as crazy as she could be, or hurt as it inflated her ego, or if this merely proves that Christianity does not always work because we all know Raquel is a terrible human being.

She's had a rough week but  how lucky she just happened to be filming herself when the Holy Spirit touched her soul so she could share it on IG.

Oof. I just had a look. Her whole Instagram is just picture after picture of her, no matter what she's purportedly talking about.

Look, I get it, kinda. If I were pretty (and I am sadly not) I would post more pics of myself than I do. I would. And when I do get a pic that looks good, I do share it. So I get it, to a point. Raquel's enjoying her looks. Why not? But what's so sad is that she doesn't share ANYTHING ELSE. If there were pics of her, AND pics of her with friends, AND pics of interesting things around her, AND pics of things she cares about, then it wouldn't seem so tragically self-absorbed. It's the lack of balance that's most weird.

Also, as you say, taking a video of herself acting out pain and sadness. No, just no. It's just so broken that her instinct, when deeply sad, isn't to reach out to a friend for conversation and company, but instead to video herself for strangers. That is not a healthy response.

According to Raquel, you need to hear these words today, so here you go.

Spoiler

02.02.2020
Words that I wish I could say to the me from a year ago
(& that YOU need to hear today) —

I hope you learn that your journey makes you unique, and your rarity is what makes you fascinating.
I hope you stop letting your insecurities keep you from chasing what you want.
I hope you stop blaming your upbringing, your failed experiences, and your broken dreams for “holding you back”.
I hope you figure out who you want to become and choose that person every day.
I hope you stop shriveling back into a cave of doubt and self-hate.
And I hope you discover a passion for something that overwhelms your insecurities to a point of dissolving them with love and joy and fulfillment.
I hope you create a space where you will always speak your heart’s truth because it deserves to be voiced.
I hope you learn that your struggle is your magic.
And I hope you learn the magic of who the Spirit already says you ARE.
——
Spoiler alert: you do all of this and more.

The editor is really glitchy on my device right now. And now I’ve lost what I was trying to say because it keeps just copying and pasting the last word I typed.

Did it get fixed? Now I'm really curious what it was.

To me it's cute that whatever thought she had, she just knows YOU need this thought too.

Doesn't look like Raquel is having a lot of luck raising money for her "mission trip". She has two whole donations which puts he at $75.

I find that my feelings about Raquel and her missioncation are similar to a former boss who kept complaining that he wasn't picked for audit trips (and he was quite vocal about loathing audit duties) when the audit trips were to foreign locations.  Before his departure he managed to log foreign audit trips to a Canadian facility (outside Montreal I believe), Juarez Mexico, and ultimately a two week boondoggle to China (which I suspect was his ultimate travel goal).  The whole nonsense with the former boss really annoyed me.  So does Raquel trying to crowd fund a 'mission' trip to an exotic location.  I trust her about as much as I trust Lawson Bates fundraising right now.

Raquel now has an author website.

Quote

She toyed with the idea of writing a book but wasn’t sure what genre she should write in.

And she started one about Xaquery(whose name I never spell correctly) along with a whole bunch of other books including  a Christian western romance. What Raquel learned was she doesn't have a stick with it personality because she continually started and got bored with her book ideas.

Quote

Not long after, she was introduced to poetry and prose through the writings of Tyler Knott Gregson, Atticus, and Rudy Francisco.

So her great homeschool education didn't include poetry and prose? She left Pinterest out of that list of writings that inspire her. And by inspire I mean she copies them.

Quote

So she decided to try her hand at it and in 2017, published her debut paperback, a compilation of poems that she had written over the course of two years, and called it “Pluviophile”. In March of 2019, she released her second book, “Are My Eyes Still Tame?”. Readers have labeled her writings with adjectives such as awake, real, and passionate.

I have some more adjectives to describe her "poetry".

Quote

Her goal is to always make her readers feel an emotion, and if anything she writes causes them to, her writer’s heart is honored.

She is still stuck with the idea that any emotion is a sign that she is a good writer. People reading your work and feeling frustrated because it is all just poorly written drivel isn't something you should feel honored about.

She wanted to write timeless bestsellers but lost the nerve.

Quote

Releasing the summer of 2020, “In the Afterglow” is Raquel’s third collection of writings. But this book will be unlike her first two for a very unique reason – it is a collaboration with certain other artists and creatives.

Well I hope the certain other artists get credited in the book if not the marketing.

This coffee table style of publication will be sure to leave an impact on whoever chooses to peruse its pages.

Paper cuts?

Quote

“Are My Eyes Still Tame?” is authoress Raquel Z. Duarte’s second collection of poetry and prose. In it, she writes about different aspects of life that she has seen, perceived, and beheld through her brown eyes. Released over a year after her first book, Raquel’s experiences in life matured her spirit and in turn, her writing. Many readers have commented on the different style of writing it consists of, comparing it to her debut release, “Pluviophile”.

Oh really? she saw, perceived and beheld so many things in a year that her spirit matured?   and do books consist of a  style of writing?

Quote

Released in November 2017, “Pluviophile” is Raquel’s debut book. A collection of poems written over the first two years of this young author’s life, when she first discovered that writing poetry was her destiny. Written from her [then] current outlook on life, love and heartbreak. “Beautiful book! Pulls on your heart strings but definitely worth the read!!!” as one reviewer commented.

This  sounds like she wrote Pluviophile when she was two.

Quote

Not long after, she was introduced to poetry and prose through the writings of Tyler Knott Gregson, Atticus, and Rudy Francisco.

So if both poetry and prose were a new discovery, what the heck was she reading before that? It figures that her greatest literary influences are people who publish poetry on Instagram. (you think she knows what the word prose means?)

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Atticus should be happy since he is somebody she's plagiarized before  https://www.freejinger.org/topic/30336-miss-raquels-2nd-novel-part-6-wielder-of-words/?do=findComment&comment=1488739

Quote

Unapologetically raw, Raquel always hopes that readers will find relatable truths in her words, and know that they are not alone in the significant things they have experienced in life.

So is she raw or mature?  She wrote this in her goodreads blurb too. I suppose most writers hope that readers find something relatable in their writings but Raquel seems quite invested in trying to convince her readers that if she had a thought or a feeling it's something that they thought or felt too.

I think you are correct. She realized her first book had some super dumb things. I guess that shows she has at least a bit of self awareness.

I wonder if she is going to give up blogging and her untamedworshipper instagram.

Raquel can’t travel for her 25th because of the virus, so she is asking everyone to write her handwritten notes. Oh, and she celebrates her birthday all month long. ?

Raquel is so boring nowadays I've unfollowed her. I think she also deleted a lot of stuff off her Instagram. Not sure why.

Pls let me know when anything earth-shattering happens.

As a goodbye present I'll leave this here (found it while I was Corona-cleaning my hard drive)

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
