  1. It took over a year for a new Raquel thread but nothing has actually changed since 2010.
  2. Raquel has yet another mundane, generic, purposeless article up. At the end, she says "A wise man once said – “Don’t regret things. Why? Because you never lose in life. You either win or you learn.” I knew this sounded familiar and sure enough the wise man is indeed Nelson Mandela. I am someone who used to be very passionate about writing and am just now diving back into it, I wondered for a moment if she is in the clear by saying "a wise man once said"? But I don't think she is! I feel like that phrase is reserved for generic old sayings that cannot be traced back to any one person. Nelson Mandela obviously does not fall into that category. Why can't she simply give credit where credit is due? https://thoughtcatalog.com/raquel-duarte/2018/05/read-this-when-youre-feeling-behind-in-your-20s/ Raquel: You are quite behind in your 20s for assuming no one would notice this.
  3. From her latest blog entry: The oils are as much fundie these days as they are hippy, but "purifying" and crystals had me raising an eyebrow.

    The Orphan Myth

I think this deserves its own thread. Stressing family preservation, It covers everything from the inadequacies of institutional care, to the recruiting children for orphanages, and the serious downside of short-term missions to cuddle kids for a couple of weeks. I can't decide which other thread to put it on and it is relevant to so many. It should be required watching for all our child collectors, evangelical and fundie intercountry adopters for Jesus, voluntourists, and their supporters. I'd like to tie Selina Bergey and Miss Raquel to their chairs and make them watch it for starters. Interesting that Bethany Christian Services finally saw the writing on the wall and now is working towards family preservation. Disclaimer: I am not against intercountry adoption for some special needs children - but family preservation is the way to go and what people should be supporting with their donations.
  5. Raquel is writing another novel, and we CAN'T WAIT for it to ready. Part 1 is here:
  6. So her latest "masterpiece" is about how people need to work at relationships, even when they're hard, because people hit the first bump and give up, and yes, sometimes relationships don't work out, but if you pick the right person and "sideswipe" the blows, it will! Riveting stuff from the wielder of words. Because what the world needs is more relationship advice from someone who claims to have never been in one.
  7. Because JESUS!! Some mission trip to Peru and she needs the money by May next year. So don't give her Christmas or birthday gifts. instead help fund God's daughter.
  8. Raquel just posted a blog that she will be participating in NaNoWriMo. The synopsis sounds very 50 Shades of Raquel already. She is posting under the username LiteraryRaindrop. Has anyone used the NaNoWrimo website before? Does that mean we will get to follow her novel's progress daily? Also: if this stuff does get posted daily, do we think she'll be able to live without getting feedback on social media? Will she break her Sabbatical? I suppose people praising her on the NaNoWriMo website wouldn't count?
  9. Miss Raquel has starting putting words together and making them into pictures. That is right, she is putting words together to make these crazy things called sentences. just words that I put together...and make into a picture Bless her. Here is the link to her pinterest page where she put words together: pinterest.com/MissRaquel316/quotes-by-me/ http://pinterest.com/pin/90846117456325827/ Pretty sure she plagiarized a worship song for that. http://pinterest.com/pin/90846117456325824/ He's teaching you something through this. Cooperate with his gentle touch. Jesus is touching you, so you better cooperate and not fight it. http://pinterest.com/pin/90846117456325790/ So she often hates thinking. Why am I not surprised? There are plenty more, but I honestly find the long ones too boring to read.
  10. So apparently Miss Raquel's pastor, who appears to have been counseling her for vague reasons, suggested she stop spending so much time on social media. But before she was totally sure God wanted her do this she gave God a list of very specific requirements. If He let her go to Ross and find a spiral bound day planner with areas big enough that she can write down notes and a Bible verse on the front she would give up the social media for two months. Well she found one so now she has to give up all her social media for two months and instead journal about God. I get the feeling she was hoping there wouldn't be a journal like that available. There has been something going on in the last few months that she doesn't want to share yet but has made her move away from God(new not-boyfriend?). She ended up wandering farther from God than she ever thought she would and God has missed her. I think that getting off social media will do her some good and I hope she has some people who are giving her some good advice about growing up and not acting so self-absorbed. She needs to stop focusing on her "future husband" and living in this dream world where a guy is going to sweep her off her feet and solve all her problems. I think she is still going to blog, so she won't be totally off the internet. itsjustraquel.com/
  11. itsjustraquel.com/2015/08/this-is-why-girls-are-confusing.html My personal favorite wannabe-funde-lite "writer," Raquel, has some knowledge to drop on "all the guys out there" in her latest blog post, "This is Why Girls Are Confusing." Have fun snarking on something other than Joshgate, though this has no promise of being nearly as entertaining.

    Only Raquel...

Only Raquel would unapologetically complain about the immodesty brought about during the summer months specifically derived from string bikinis, then casually post a picture herself on Instagram wearing: A string bikini. ....... It appears, though, Raquel is more modest than the others when donning said outfit, as she strategically sits in her (non)boyfriend's lap so he can convieniently conceal her midsection with his scrawny ass arm. ........ A Christian non-boyfriend covers a multitude of sins (or the fleeting pet peeve) Which brings about the question: Will a non-Christian boyfriend be the next abhorrence to be embraced? Hypocrisy starts small.....
  13. I miss talking about Raquel. Let's talk about how ridiculous Raquel is. itsjustraquel.com/2015/04/54-reasons-i-will-not-date-you.html
  14. I want to discuss Miss Raquel's "mission" trip to Peru. This is her second trip there and it pretty much seems like a two week vacation. I can't tell what she is supposed to be doing besides hanging out with teen boys and basking in their adoration. I cannot help but think that no reputable missions organization would not allow Raquel to go and behave the way she is behaving. IMO she is crossing the line into behaving in completely inappropriate ways. Keep in mind when reading this she is talking about teen boys. There does appear to be some younger children there, but most of her pictures are of teenagers, so I suspect she stuck with them. For dinner, the boys mingle with the team at nine different tables, and that first night, mine filled up the quickest. My heart was so happy. Of course Raquel has to brag about how they all love her the best. the weeks I was there were spent, literally, just being with them. Loving on them, teasing them, laughing, playing cards, writing with chalk, drawing pictures, going on walks and hikes, a water balloon fight, taking pictures, playing games, watching Guardians of the Galaxy, tickle fights, and many, many hugs. I stayed up till 2 a.m. whispering in the dark with one of my boys. And he fell asleep on my shoulder as I stroked his hair. I kept hugging one of the boys (who calls me ‘hermanita’ – sister) and telling him it felt so right and perfect to be back in Kusi. He smiled and told me he was glad I was back too. And that he had missed me. This fifteen-year-old boy called me out on a habit I didn’t even know I had. He tested my patience, pushed me to a limit, seemed demanding sometimes, appeared to others as a bit violent, didn’t express or show affection easily, and rarely smiled. But I loved him. And I knew he needed love. It took a couple days but after we got over the little bumps, we were inseparable. And he smiled when he was around me. He smiled in the pictures I took with him. He started showing affection, too. Held my hand, hugged me, wanted me to sit with him, and even grabbed my arm and put it around his shoulders. Apparently there was one boy who didn't automatically adore her and took some time to warm up to her. Raquel's "mission" trips really do not seem healthy for the boys at the boys homes she visits. She bounces in, showers them with love and affection and then bounces right back out in a week or so. god-sdaughter.blogspot.com/
  15. god-sdaughter.blogspot.com/2014/11/a-dream-comes-true.html?spref=fb Assuming this is not a bit of her fiction..... it looks like she is working for a small town newspaper. See, she told you she didn't need an education.
