For that matter, are Geoff & Victoria on, or will they be on, social security & medicare? This. Some many fundie/fundie-lite/evangelicals refuse to accept a penny of the evil socialist government’s handouts. Yet, they will happily pay their taxes. Now, while I frown upon someone not paying taxes, I would have more respect for a fundie who refuses government help but evades taxes. At least that fooling themselves (that much). I may have said this before on a Maxhell thread but I am always baffled at how fundies will preach about women working as a sin, but the daughters seeking female doctors out of comfort, and the wives rely on the lady cashier to check out their massive amounts of groceries for their quiver. And then there is preaching against men working for a company and starting their own little empire. Well, the other menfolk who can afford to support your business most likely earned their wage working for a large, non-family business and has co-workers who are *gasp* women. The same goes for government benefits. They pay their taxes (hopefully), and then vote, use the roads, use the parks, use running water, but then say no to social security, EBT, medicare/aid, WIC. Makes my brain hurt but I am glad my husband and are not like this. Unfortunately, his fundie lite family sort of is. And my family, though quite evangelical, never was. He and I both have special needs siblings, and I have a lot more confidence and hope if I ever happen to have a special needs kid because I can and will use all resources possible. He is scarred for life, and is having to slowly wrap his head around having kids general. It’s really sad. 11

Or, accepting care from a male OB-GYN when he's the top specialist, as Zsu Anderson did during her difficult twin pregnancy. As always with fundies, it's do as I say, not as I do. The doublespeak & hypocrisy are stunning, though. One of the cases we've discussed here was that of LIttle Tait Zimmerman, who was born early with multiple problems. Fortunately, he's a healthy kid today but not surprisingly his early challenges led to major medical bills. His parents -- Tait & Lauren Zimmerman -- made a BIG deal of how they weren't going to take ebil gubbmint funding (the baby would have been eligible for Medicaid coverage & services). Instead, they thought it was far more godly & Christian to force the providers (physicians & hospitals), after the fact, to reduce their bills and then beg for the balance through a GoFundMe or something. As I've said before, you wonder how Tait would feel if someone engaged his company's services at an agreed-upon price, and then refused to pay it while trying to force him to accept a lower amount.

anjulibai
I'm not sure it's hypocrisy as much as a major sense of superiority and entitlement, and a tacit acknowledgement that they are okay with the majority of people out there going to hell. 9
CyborgKin
So what part of Geoff's 200 year plan is this? (spoilered for size: clip from Noah's Twitch stream) Spoiler But on the current topic: some people I know who attended https://themasterplanconference.org/tmpc2019/mike-cheney-tmpc2019/ reported that the speaker has a 32 year old daughter who is single and unmarried, a fact which he mentioned several times. So he seems to be advertising but failing so far. Howl
So this is a conference for younger people about networking, so you have a bunch of older people leading sessions? Like there aren't a bunch of social media savvy 20 somethings who have it going on with networking? Like there HAS to be a patriarch teaching you how to do something, because well, DUH! PATRIARCH! because the thought of 20 somethings having it all together on their own without patriarchal oversight is too terrifying? 11 1

Oh, absolutely - the younguns (20-somethings, 30-somethings, 40-somethings...) can't possibly be trusted to network and learn things on their own, because Rufus only KNOWS what might happen then. No matter how isolationist and strict their upbringing, Patriarchal Papas must prevail. Back in the good old days, when DPIAT's Vision Forum site and "Doug's Blog" were still alive and kicking, I remember seeing any number of pics of ol' Short-Leash Geoff looming over his chilluns at various and sundry conferences. Here are two I've found on Google images - believe me, there were more. 8 9

CyborgKin
Looks like the autoembedded link broke completely. Here's a direct link instead https://www.twitch.tv/aimbotkin/clip/RoughTenderSamosaDAESuppy It's basically Lucas introducing a session of playing a new shooter videogame. "...it'll be kinda curious to see what kinds of real sick things are in this game," given that some "SF dudes" consulted on the game. And he bloviates a bit about how while he didn't work on this game he has some knowledge of how triple-A [gamedev] companies go about getting consultants to do things. His channel intro has intercut footage of him playing shooter games and him doing real life target shooting. I guess this exists as an excuse for him to play videogames under the guise of promoting trex arms? I popped into the stream briefly when he was live the other day and he was talking about why trex arms doesn't recommend shotguns for beginners. edit: watching his latest video (Apex Legends), I just noticed his olive coloured trex arms hat doesn't play nice with his greenscreen! And a few minutes in he said he's starting to like Piers Morgan, for using the debate tactic of identifying as a penguin. I'm no expert but I'm fairly sure that's transphobic. Edited October 18, 2019 by CyborgKin additional material. edit again: why did I say Noah? 4 6

To what I bolded above - you hit the nail on the head, IMO. It is SO obvious that "but I'm advertising the business Dad!" is such a flimsy excuse because he really wants to play video games. I enjoy playing video games too, so i'm not knocking that part....just the hilariously flimsy, transparent attempt at justification. Otherwise, you know, there is no way video gaming would be considered a godly way to spend your time. Especially since, in one clip, there was definitely a female game character that was NOT a SAHD and most certainly not wearing Botkin approved clothing, see https://botkinsisters.com/category/womanhood-in-pop-culture ? Do any of the other Robotkins watch Lucas's streams for accountability? Edited October 19, 2019 by The Mother Dust 8
Monstrous Black Sheep
I'm still a little miffed that my roommate got a personal invitation to the conference, but I didn't. Of course, I'm extremely vocal about my hatred for patriarchy, and openly call it a cult, so that's... probably why. 2 7
notkin
Sometime lurker and newly registered forum member here, so I can’t start a new topic, but I have to say it’s surreal to see my uncle Geoff and my cousins discussed here. He’s truly a horrible human being, so I’m glad that so many recognize him for the malignant, lying narcissist he is and that his “influence” has increasingly waned over the last several years. I don’t keep up with him or his family at all (the distaste is mutual, as I’m a godless homosexual), so I appreciate all the updates I can get here—gotta make sure I keep my gag reflex in functional order. refugee
@notkin, welcome! If you know and feel comfortable answering this, rumors have been circulating that Patriarch Botkin’s health has gone downhill. Also mention of migraines, and less visibility on his part (I mean, he hasn’t been as public, and his “Conservatory” website hasn’t been updated much, if I’m remembering right. I try to stay away from websites associated with VF for personal reasons, so I’m dependent on the “gossip” here). Is there anything to this? TIA. TIA. @refugee I don’t know much about the health issues, but the migraines would not surprise me at all. They’re endemic in the family, originating with my grandfather, and can be incredibly debilitating for some of us. I don’t suffer as badly as some of my cousins, but if they’ve increased in severity for Geoff, that could absolutely play a part in a lessened role. Beyond that, I doubt there are any major health concerns or I would have heard about it from my mom. I’ve heard that T-Rex Arms is “supporting the entire family” (I want to clarify this is hearsay on my part), so part of it could also be more of a focus on the side of the family business that’s actually buttering the bread these days. 7 9
Palimpsest
@notkin, I've always wondered how Geoff's poor parents felt about his claim that he was raised by "Marxists." Katie Botkin has already debunked that one for us but it must have been painful for them to see the path he took. 8 2

Katie Botkin has already debunked that one for us but it must have been painful for them to see the path he took. @Palimpsest I think Geoff’s (peripheral) estrangement from my grandparents speaks volumes, although that’s not a topic either of them directly discussed/addressed to the best of my knowledge. I’d have to go back and look at the timeline to see when Geoff first started to make that assertion, as it may have been after my grandfather passed away in the very early 2000s. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Geoff did wait until his father was buried before he started rattling off those lies, but I might be wrong. I didn’t even know about the Marxist claims until several years after my grandfather died. I’ve never been so shocked by anything in my life, and I’ve seen A LOT in my days. My grandfather in particular was incredibly religious, gave most of his money away to support various Christian missionaries/missions, and was the antithesis of anything that could be remotely be construed as someone of that political bent. If he (my grandfather) did know anything about Geoff’s lies while still alive, he would have been disgusted and I’m sure would have said so directly to Geoff. I always got the impression he thought Geoff was an idiot and something of a loser, hence why Geoff came home to visit his parents only a handful of times while I was growing up. My armchair-psychologist take on my uncle is that he’s at least partly the way that he is because he could never live up to my grandfather’s expectations and is essentially a beta male playacting at being a formidable alpha. My grandmother, on the other hand, probably didn’t give it much thought given her personality. She was a very social and convivial person who never seemed very interested in anything political. So she may have been slightly troubled but not to the point of devastation, if that makes sense. 2 19
