I’m pretty sure that’s not true now that Disney’s introduced the biometric scanners. I’m not surprised that they go to Disney even if it’s not a great financial choice. Plenty of people do, me included.

I was just reading about this the other day because my SIL is a FL resident and we're considering a Disney trip. Unless I read old info that hasn't been updated it did say that so long as the FL resident "activates" the passes they do not need to be there for the person to use them. Again, I could have been reading some old info. Either way...plenty of people manage to do Disney on a budget.

An unofficial but very reliable site on saving money at Disney says no way are the tickets transferable - https://www.mousesavers.com/walt-disney-world-vacation-discounts-and-deals/walt-disney-world-ticket-discounts/#floridaresidents

Fl resident here. Id (proof of residency) must be shown for all adults to activate tickets. At best, Alyssa could get Willow a Fl resident ticket since she's a child- but she's under 3 so she's free anyways

It's normal to go, specially when babies cry a lot or had a complicated birth.

Taking a newborn to a chiropractor seems like taking your brand new, off the lot car to get a tire rotation. Doesn't make any sense.

I've heard of people claiming that chiropractic adjustments helped their baby with things like acid reflux, feeding issues, colic, and ear infections but it seems like a no-brainer to me just to take your child to see a pediatrician or specialist for any of those concerns.

It makes sense to me. They’ve been curled up tightly in the womb and then have to make their way through the birth canal. It’s easy to get a vertebrae or rib out of place no matter how new a person is.

I once rented a car that was brand new. It had less than 10 miles on it when I picked it up. But the headlights didn’t work. (Found that out at dark.)

Re Chiro and ear infections - I've actually had my chiro adjust my ears to help them drain of fluid.  The result - fluid drained, no infection and no need for antibiotics.  Knowing this, heck yes take the kid to the chiro for ear issues.

Oh man if I could find a chiro that adjusts ears that would be great. Mine are a mess. The ENT only prescribes antibiotics every time I see him.

@OyToTheVey I see one regularly for back issues.  I asked the first time if there was anything she could do for ears one evening because mine felt like they had fluid.  She did a yank/tug bit on my ears.  Re-aligns the euschatian tubes.

Sorry but I side eye a lot of chiropractors. I’ve come across a few that are into woo.

It’s okay. I’ve side eyed a couple medical doctors too. Like the one who diagnosed me with gout, at age 22, in my second toe. He gave me pain meds. A quick search on the internet showed gout is almost never found in the 2nd toe, and rarely in a 22 year old. My chiropractor at the time looked at my foot, adjusted it at the ankle and the swelling and pain immediately subsided.

I’m not a chiropractor!!!! But you might be able to do it yourself. Firmly grip your ear lobe between your thumb and first finger with the hand on that side. Pull out and slightly up, gently but quickly. I did this for my sister when she had water in her ear after swimming and it relieved her pain.

My baby was having problems with reflux and constant hiccups (to the point they upset her) soon after birth and we went to a chiropractor that had taken special classes to adjust infants and it was wonderful. I credit her for really helping my baby feel better. We still see her on occasion, but my baby is now 15 months and thankfully got past that stage a while ago. I know it can be controversial but I was willing to try anything to help my baby feel better.  I first consulted her pediatrician who didn’t feel like the reflux was anything significant and the hiccups were “no big deal” so that’s when I decided to look into other methods.

2 things: Thank you! I can actually feel stuff moving in there. If you do it quickly, it actually feels like the ear canal is lining properly.

And: I've met so many medical doctors that were horrible. Including my recent attempt at trying a new gastroenterologist. I had my gallbladder taken out a few years ago and have been having issues ever since. Long story short, ended up with sepsis at the incision, worst treatment from a surgeon. Anyway, the new doctor I tried automatically went to my weight and recommended hormone shots to lose weight. I'm here telling her everything hurts and that my digestion is off and something is definitely wrong and she's telling me I need weight-loss shots. Never went to her again. I'm going to add that I have gained like 20 lbs in the years since my surgery but I was going to her to find out why. I'm really not eating that much. Most of my friends will attest that I eat a lot less than them.

@OyToTheVey It is so frustrating when doctors don’t listen to the patient!!! I’m sorry you dealt with sepsis. I really hope you find a doctor who listens and is able to help you.

I’m glad the ear pull helped. Often it’s an audible pop to others close to the person having it done.

@Kailash Thank you! Waiting for my new insurance to kick in before continuing my doctor shopping. At this point I'm willing to pay out of pocket for a doctor with a good rep.

It's super woo and shouldn't be done.  Chiropractors are usually hacks who haven't even gone to medical school and have no business messing with babies. You'll get a lot of "I took my baby, and they're okay"- so did I before I knew better.  Chiro on babies is not in any way evidence-based and absolutely can cause harm.

Birth can be traumatic for babies too.  Some births have left babies with broken arms.  I have two friends whose babies were born with torticollis in the neck from the birth.  I don't know if you have osteopaths in America but I took my baby to a specially trained baby osteopath after my complicated birth.  In ideal births the baby isn't going to have any complications but in some?  t

Even if a reliable baby chiro exists in their area, I have a hard time believing they'd be picking the well-trained, highly educated one...you know, the one that might say "no, I won't work on newborns". The track record with fundies seems to be that they pick the "professional" person who is fundie-minded like themselves and rely on God to make them be well-trained. Pastors, midwives, doctors, and probably chiros. I have no faith in a barely educated teen mother and her not much better educated early 20s husband being able to judge which chiro to take their 6 week old baby to for treatment

Thank you! I'm honestly shocked at some of these replies. Taking an infant (or child of any age, for that matter) to a chiropractor is nothing short of child endangerment.

If you have ear problems that include dizziness, loss of balance, fullness, and hearing loss, I would recommend an otoneurologist (specializes in disorders from the brain to the ear). A chiropractor cannot help and actually cause more harm than good.

Just a quick question. Now living with M. Music (who is from France), I have come to realize that different appellations have different meaning depending on the country.

In my province of Canada, Chiropractors need to complete a college degree to be part of the order. The degree is a full program (B.A all the way to PhD.) offered at the Université de Trois-Rivières and recognized by the Government as a real accreditation. It is still considered an alternative medecine but regulated by an order. Which means chiropactors are limited in what they can do. (Also thanks to the Quebec College of Physicians who are very active in protecting the standards of medical practice). So thanks to that, it is at least considered regulated and not harmful. Whereas in France, I learned there are no such degree offered in an accredited university. So of course both of our perceptions for the practice where very infuenced by that.

And on the other hand, the term Osteopathy also has different meaning in both of our countries. It is not well perceived at all here. It is seen with a very wary eye. The title can be used by anyone who wants to give some sort of ''advices for your well-being''. But to the contrary, it is a control titled in France, and people need to complete a degree to be able to practice. And according to Mr. Music's description, the works seems more in line with what I would consider a chiropractor.

So what is the situation in the U.S? Who can used the title of Chiropactor? Is a degree needed and is that degree obtainable through accreditated schools?

I'm just curious.

I went to a chiropractor as a baby when I was born via C-section the doctor had to yank me back up which caused neck problems. A few months with the chiropractor and I was fine.

It is amazing how hard it can be to find a doctor who will listen. I've ran into that so many times with both of my medical problems. The first time it took 5 damn years to find a doctor who would finally listen and diagnose the problem. I had to go through the same bullshit with my current medical problem. This time it took only 4 years to find a doctor who would bother to do his job. No matter what you say or do they will not listen. Or they blow you off. Or with my first medical problem I must be pregnant or its the flu that's why I kept throwing up every three to six months for five years. Or my certain problem which left me unable to take care of myself, work and in a damn wheel chair deciding that I need to see therapist. Or my mom's eye doctor who failed notice the detach retina which her next doctor did what he could to fix it so she didn't loose all of her sight in one eye. Or my neighbor's doctor who failed to notice the tumor in her head had been getting bigger! Or the ER doctor who decided my cousin must have an ulcer when really she had appendicitis good thing he totally missed that and she had to be rushed to the ER three days later. Why is it so hard to find a competent doctor?

I’m not sure what you think a chiropractor is doing to a child that would be child endangerment. Gently manipulating their bodies is not dangerous.

How many posters have never been to a chiropractor but are very opposed to them?

@Vivi_music also makes a good point. Chiropractor may mean different things to people from different places.
