My fellow Limerick-woman, Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries has died suddenly today in London, aged just 46. She was there for a short recording session. She leaves behind a loving family and many friends.

R.I.P. Dolores, you'll be sadly missed, Thinking of your family and friends and bandmates tonight  xxx

She formed a massive part of my lonely teen years - I took so much comfort and solace in her lyrics, and it seemed like we grew in strength together. As The Cranberries’ songs became more powerful, so did I. I know lots of other people feel the same way :(

I remember Dolores from being out and about in Limerick city in the early 90's (we're a similar vintage). She was always beautiful, always nice, approachable and always stood her round in Quins ... all the lads from The Cranberries were and still are very down to Earth. They continued to socialise in the same bars they always did and that's how we were all on nodding terms with her. I can't say that I knew her personally, but we had mutual friends up until her death.

Limerick was so very very proud of her. She was ours and she conveyed that in her music, singing in the accent of her much loved city.

Dolores will repose in St. Joseph's Church, O'Connell Avenue tomorrow before being brought back to her home and family for a private burial over the following days.
