Lori Alexander 28: Not Liking Children

Recommended Posts

Since she hasn't posted anything today, I imagine she is preparing something big. I doubt she is taking some time off for reflection. Or maybe she is hung over from the margaritas at the birthday party.

Are these fangirls stupid?  Brainwashed?   Or do they believe that because Lori is (as she always says) a godly older woman mentor that all that luxury is her due?.  That she deserves it? Do they think that, like the prosperity hucksters with their private jets, luxury cars, designer wardrobes and 10.000+ sq ft mansions, God is showering all this on Lori as a sign of his favor and proof of her godliness?

I really think it is this. They feel that she deserves it.

Did Pastor Jay challenge you, Lori?  Did he convict you?  Why were his posts deleted?  Was it because he refused to "tickle your ears"?

This sounds EXACTLY like Lori's response to being rebuked and held accountable over the past few days.

So last night my fundie brother in law gave me the smackdown for believing we are individuals first & gender second, and for not believing in rigid gender roles.  :fryingpan: Anyway, he did that Ken thing. In my own home on my own couch, he said "is is not better for us to be content in the roles god has made us for..." and so on into a massive shithole.

I'm assuming you didn't actually hit him with a frying pan---but if you did, I can't blame you. Bad enough  that he believes that, but then to lecture you in your own home, and on top of that, to use Kenspeak?

I admire your self-control! (Also your patience, kindness, gentleness, and so on.)

"Yes, brother-in-law, it IS best to be content with the role God has made for me--to be his beloved child and a follower of Jesus."

Seriously, what a jerk to do that to you.

Perfect response. I'd have said something else, unfortunately, I have no self-control. :pb_redface:

I wanted to hit him so bad. It was such a triggering and difficult evening for me.

I have this daydream of the minister at Princess Lori's church having a discussion with her and/or Ken.  He tells them that he and others have been following her blog, and based on her recent post about women not being made in the image of God, he tells them that their theology is so different from the church's, that they should reconsider whether that church is really the best place for them to be.  And that they are giving his church a black eye.

Can you imagine the hell that would break loose if Lori is asked to leave her church??  I can only dream...

I have often wondered why Lori even attends that church. She has made it very clear that it does not meet her standards. How many times has she said "I have never heard a pastor teach submission from the pulpit," or "I have never heard a pastor teach women's roles from thmother pulpit."?  She has NEVER found a church that is biblical enough for her; yet she continues to show up each Sunday (presumably) but for what reason??? She and Ken would be much happier starting their own church. I mean, I guess two members is enough.....

Lori and Ken aren't on good terms with the people at their church.  Lori wrote the pastor's wife a letter, rebuking her for her choice in swimwear.  Then, the church contacted Ken and told him that Lori was NOT to discuss submission/working mothers on their property.

As if that wasn't enough, Lori has blogged about how inadequate the church is, they refuse to tithe, and Lori goes in there acting like she owns the place.  I will never forget her telling the story of an "immodest" woman who tried to sit beside them on Sunday.  According to The Godly Mentor, she told her that she was saving the seat for someone, and she'd have to sit somewhere else.

I think they stir things up, wherever they go.  When you think about it, her readers never appear to be people she knows irl, and the few times it has been someone she actually knows, they've just been chiming in to let her know she's wrong.  BOTH of her mother's sisters have chimed in to rebuke Lori, and one in particular was very put out when Lori implied that her mother didn't have any good role models.

Speaking for my parents, they provided a secure, Christian, loving environment for their family. I'm convinced what it was their heart's desire to be good parents. Your mother was the 5th child, born in a one bedroom house.. I don't know to this day where we all slept. My parents raised us through a serious depression and World War II. They were KIND and GENTLE Christian people. My sisters and I often talk about our happy, secure, loving childhood. Zion was a wonderful city to grow up in. We feel immensely blessed by our childhood. Genny (name redacted), the 4th child.

Christian people. My sisters and I often talk about our happy, secure childhood. Zion was a wonderful place to live as a child. Mother always believed that God had chosen my father for her.

She continued:

Quote

Lori, it upset me when you wrote that your mother did not have a good role model. In fact, I resent it when you refer to my parents like that. I regard them as excellent role models. But you are right that they did not teach us to obey our husbands. They were a team, a partnership, and they worked together to raise their family in a loving, Christian home.

It's a fairly long discussion, that can be found in the comments of this post:

Aunt R replied on another post with the following:

Aunt Roselyn here, Lori. I am very distressed by the simplistic way you describe 'both sides.' I am a self-identified liberal, as are many of the friends I spend time with. I and many of my friends believe in God, that the world is God's good creation, and that we are called to be good stewards of His creation. We love children and many of us have spent our lives working with them. If believing the words of Jesus, "Feed my sheep, give water to the thirsty, and clothe the naked," makes me a socialist, I welcome the label. Your generalizations are hurtful.

Hi Lori, Aunt Roselyn here again. I enjoy reading your blog, but I have the same comment as last time. I wish you would clearly attribute your source. As I read this post, I wondered if you had written it, or maybe Ken, as he frequently contributes. At the end of the post, I saw (John Piper). Did he write the entire post or the last paragraph? I would like to know the source at the beginning of the post. Such as, "I enjoyed this writing by John Piper and I want a to share it with you." It is a matter of intellectual integrity.

So unless the whole family went out to Door county, lori is back in CA. Alyssa posted an insta story of them singing happy birthday to her and bringing her some sort of dessert. It looked like Alyssa's house though I can't be sure.

Unlurking to say that in that video Lori is wearing a pretty darn short dress, and her daughter is wearing teeny tiny shorts. I guess modesty rules don't apply to them.

"It is a matter of intellectual integrity." Wow. Well said, Aunt Roselyn. Sadly, I don't think Lori would know integrity, intellectual or otherwise, if it knocked on her door and waltzed into her house.

As for that church they attend, I think Lori and Ken only go there to get more fodder for Lori's blog.  :my_dodgy:

Yes, on Alyssa's instagram story. Cassie is the one wearing very short shorts. She looks great and I wear similar shorts, but blog Lori would never approve. Real life lori knows that the rules don't apply to her and her family.

This is going to sound silly, but how do you see stories?  I never seem to see them...

Do you have to have an account?

Yeah, if you follow Lori long enough, you'll notice that very few, if any, of her rules apply to them. :my_dodgy:

Umm, I don't know. I have an account. I just search for Alyssa's handle and click on her profile pic and it plays the stories.

I've followed her for a while now, but her hypocricy still surprises me. I think I'd have a tiny bit of respect for her if she actually practiced any of what she preached (oh wait, silly me, women aren't allowed to preach, unless you're Lori that is)

I have an account and I don't see it, either. Maybe I'm not looking at the right Alyssa, so if someone wants to share the link with me, feel free. :)

@SuperNova, those little baskets are either called the offertory or collection baskets.  If a plate or shallow bowl is used it may be called the offering plate.  Catholics (and others. maybe) call the collection of money the collection and it part of the offertory.  The most important part of the offertory is the presention of the gifts of bread and wine to be consecrated  during Mass.  I don't know if the liturgical Protestant churches (i.e., Anglican communion and Lutheran)  have the same kind of offertory as Catholics do.  In most Protestant churches the offertory is just the collection of money.

If you get the impression that I think more highly of the Catholic version of the offertory, you would be correct although I'm no longer Catholic and, in fact, are atheist like you.

My Methodist friend and neighbor agreed to be the organist at my Catholic nuptial Mass, and expressed surprise at there needing to be an offertory hymn. "You're having an offertory at your wedding?" I told her, yes, because it's part of a Mass. Then we figured out the difference between a Catholic and a Methodist offertory.

My non-Catholic mother had the same reaction when I mentioned needing to find someone to take the offertory up at our wedding mass. Then we had the same conversation later while planning my dad's funeral mass.

Brilliant job, Lori! She just posted on instagram flowers with the address card and name of her college friend on it. Phone number too. I won't post it here, but go take a look. So we know now she is back in CA.

The friend has a 6 bedroom, 1.3 mil house. They all flock together.

She probably thought this post would bring out her crushes, Dave and Trey, and they would enthusiastically agree with her, but then comes Pastor Jay, LOL. Not the sort of male attention she was looking for.

Hmm, maybe even Dave and Trey aren't stupid enough to agree with such heresy.  What Lori sad was a pretty huge deal.
