Donald Trump is mentioned in this movie! He wrote a letter in the 80s? For a group of innocent black teens to get the death penalty.

Look who's completely  delusional. Is he sober? Seriously.

Nor sure the exact timing of the tweets, but Ivanka and Jared are observant Jews, and are off line for Shabbat and not monitoring Dad's tweets from Friday at Sunset until sometime Saturday evening.  That's a lot of time for Trump to tweet, say, and do weird shit.

Was this in reference to the group of young men who were accused of attacking woman in Central Park?  Even after they were exonerated he still would not admit they were innocent.

Unfortunately, I could see having conversations with my siblings about a schedule to take care of my parents someday. They might move in with me or one of my siblings. I might even have to pay someone  to help take care of them. That is normal.

The thought of Ivanka and Jared having to arrange someone to babysit the President of the United States to make sure he doesn't throw a tantrum of twitter or start WW3 makes my head hurt. This is not normal!

Right. Presumably if your parents need such supervision, they aren't in any kind of public leadership role.

I don't know what is scarier, Voldorange's paranoid delusion that Obama wiretapped his phones or the fact that the Tangerine Toddler''s adoring fans will believe that the phones were tampered with.

I'm betting it's the same case. Trump took out a full page ad in The New York Times advocating that the Central Park Five receive the death penalty. I watched a program on PBS about this case a while back, it was most disturbing.

Edited to add: On a humorous note, my post count title is now "Awaiting the Lord's Pizza Delivery", and my husband just texted me to say he's bringing me over some leftover pizza from Science Fair. I'm married to God, y'all! :pb_lol:

I'm betting they were tapped but it was done during the FBI investigation of contacts with the Russians and under a proper warrant, and completely without Obama's interference.

Yeah my parental units aren't quite at that age yet but in a couple decades they probably will need help.  I hope they both live as long as 3 of 4 of my grandparents did at the least.  But I can see having a conversation about mom and dad with my siblings on how to help take care of my parents then.

And yeah, it's not normal when one's parent throws tantrums on Twitter or has access to the nuclear codes and shows they cannot be trusted with anything even 1/10000000000th as important as said codes.

And Bannon and Priebus didn't get to ride on Air Force One.  Bannon flew to Florida today, on his own, but Priebus is still on a time-out.

Hope it's good pizza so you don't have to be an elitist about toilets like I am.

:pb_lol:  No worries, it is very good pizza from the mom and pop place in town. My husband has a reputation now for making sure that good food is served at any event he has a hand in organizing. It makes it much easier to attract volunteers when word gets out that you feed them well.

Why did he put wire tapping in quotes?

I only dip a toe in this thread, and applaud all of you who monitor this crap daily.

The world is going off its axis.  That's all.

This article will probably make me lose a little sleep tonight:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/feb/26/robert-mercer-breitbart-war-on-media-steve-bannon-donald-trump-nigel-farage?CMP=share_btn_tw

Quote

I click Google’s first suggested link. It leads to a website called CNSnews.com and an article: “The Mainstream media are dead.” They’re dead, I learn, because they – we, I – “cannot be trusted”. How had it, an obscure site I’d never heard of, dominated Google’s search algorithm on the topic? In the “About us” tab, I learn CNSnews is owned by the Media Research Center, which a click later I learn is “America’s media watchdog”, an organisation that claims an “unwavering commitment to neutralising leftwing bias in the news, media and popular culture”.

Another couple of clicks and I discover that it receives a large bulk of its funding – more than $10m in the past decade – from a single source, the hedge fund billionaire Robert Mercer. If you follow US politics you may recognise the name. Robert Mercer is the money behind Donald Trump. But then, I will come to learn, Robert Mercer is the money behind an awful lot of things. He was Trump’s single biggest donor. Mercer started backing Ted Cruz, but when he fell out of the presidential race he threw his money – $13.5m of it – behind the Trump campaign.

The article goes on to say:

Quote

Robert Mercer very rarely speaks in public and never to journalists, so to gauge his beliefs you have to look at where he channels his money: a series of yachts, all called Sea Owl; a $2.9m model train set; climate change denial (he funds a climate change denial thinktank, the Heartland Institute); and what is maybe the ultimate rich man’s plaything – the disruption of the mainstream media. In this he is helped by his close associate Steve Bannon, Trump’s campaign manager and now chief strategist. The money he gives to the Media Research Center, with its mission of correcting “liberal bias” is just one of his media plays. There are other bigger, and even more deliberate strategies, and shining brightly, the star at the centre of the Mercer media galaxy, is Breitbart.

It was $10m of Mercer’s money that enabled Bannon to fund Breitbart – a rightwing news site, set up with the express intention of being a Huffington Post for the right. It has launched the careers of Milo Yiannopoulos and his like, regularly hosts antisemitic and Islamophobic views, and is currently being boycotted by more than 1,000 brands after an activist campaign. It has been phenomenally successful: the 29th most popular site in America with 2bn page views a year. It’s bigger than its inspiration, the Huffington Post, bigger, even, than PornHub. It’s the biggest political site on Facebook. The biggest on Twitter.

ETA: The article gets more horrifying from there. I definitely recommend reading the whole thing.

Senator Sasse (Republican) calls Trump's bluff:

I grew up with Sasse, and I have to admit... this is one of the few things out of his mouth that hasn't made me want to punch him.
