@Buzzard you really are a star, thank you so much for all the work you put in.

I predict a Christmas engagement (because Jeebus right?)

and a March wedding (but not as classy, maybe a cammo and guns theme)

Dammit.

It was mentioned in an article that Jeremy likes her in a flower print so she picked those shoes with that in mind. I think a lot of women dress in a way that pleases their significant other but I hope she doesn't lose herself in trying to please him.  She needs to remember that he was attracted to her for a reason and that she doesn't need to change.

Ah...I see, thanks...I agree, she does look cute in florals, I had noticed that she'd been wearing more lately...I hope that she doesn't lose herself in what he wants either, or fall back on wearing those godawful frumpers...I didn't realize how tiny she is, without all of the Duggar layers, etc., which would worry me except that I have kind of softened up a bit in my opinion of Jeremy since watching the wedding...we shall see how it goes, here's hoping that theirs is an enduring love, and that he is always good to her.

This depresses me. Joy is such a young, free, tomboy spirit. Pregnant in a year?? :(

This.

Thinking about a Joy courtship is depressing enough, but when you think about the logistics inevitable breeding, it only gets worse. RIP Tomboy Joy. :tw_dissapointed_relieved:Another one lost to Gothardism.

The fact that they'll be showing Jinger's wedding stuff AFTER the wedding aired is ridiculous. In any other show (where actual interesting things happen), they could's done a 1hr special all about wedding planning, and THEN shown the wedding the following week. If content were juice crystals and recaps were water, this show would run clear and taste like a hint of aspertame (poisonous fake sweetness- totally appropriate). Too bad that's not the case for the Flavorade this family and their leg humpers have ingested,

In watching last night I wondered in Michelle is actually capable of real emotion.  She said the right things, but her voice and facial expressions were so flat!  Jim Bob seemed 100% times more genuine, even if he's creepy.

Speaking of creepy, I've never been overly bothered by Derick, but I thought him running up to Jill, kissing her and then escorting her up the aisle was terrible.  Neither she nor the groomsman looked like they were expecting it at all.  Totally uncalled for and I thought it bordered on abusive.

So not cute a doing that a 2nd time.  Wonder if he did that at his brother's wedding last weekend.  He just needs to stop.  They don't need the attention on themselves.  Let it be about other people already.  The guy who was supposed to walk her out looked a bit annoyed.  I don't blame him.

In the "after the show" sit down episode he dipped and kissed her as well. Its really juvenile and looks awkward.  Grow the fuck up - no one needs to see you making a show out of kissing your wife.

I don't know but it fascinates me how my mil was disappointed that I'm not Italian, but when I found out that my fil isn't even Italian (he's Portugese and Hungarian), I was like WTF??

I'm Scottish and Welsh, and one time she asked me what the difference is between that and Irish; I jokingly answered "We don't even know." She was not assisted. But, having been a geography buff since I was a kid, I am of the opinion that ethnicity is a social construct, and ancestral DNA supports that opinion.

How odd of her...

It's definitely social in my family, in Italian-American communities, and I think that's why I wished for that added continuity, you know? Not everyone has retained theirs. And I do feel I possess something like "ancestral memories" in some other respect that lean more Southern Italy than anything else. But I'm very glad they came here, nonetheless.

My dad's name is English, but that corner of my background is the only one who has been here for very long, since the early 17th century. The rest date back to the early 1900s and to the 1850s. I like to imagine Dad's ancestor came here during early settlement as an indentured servant. When it's traced back to the "homeland," there's a fascinating skipping back and forth from England to Scotland in the previous century.

I've never understood fundies doing a great dip for the first kiss. They (especially the bride) must be nervous about the first kiss, and then they do something really OTT like that!! It really is going from 0-60 in 0.0000001 seconds.

Buzzard, you are a star for watching all of this crap. :worship:

As for Derrick, I don't understand why he felt the need to run in there and dip down his wife. Like what the fuck? It's her sister's wedding, are you really that bad that you think that he's going to run off with the first groomsman that she sees?

That's pretty much the entire premise of the wedding day/night in these people's world. :output_eeMbjt:

They even could have shown her in her dress and then done like a flashback or something to her trying it on, or shown the cake and then a flashback of the tasting. But I guess that would have made for a longer episode.

Perhaps just made the whole thing a 3-hour special?

I think it's a way of trying to keep interest. You see the beautiful wedding, now see how they got there. I don't think they could keep even humpers interested in a three hour special.

I feel like nobody cares about the wedding now that Joy is courting, but I still have a few thoughts that haven't been said yet that I was unable to post last night.

I was surprised Jinger spent her last night at Jill and Derick's. Usually in the wedding specials for both Duggars and Bates they stress how much they'll miss sleeping in the same room as their sisters. I wonder if it really will be easy for Jinger to leave and cleave afterall. Also, her morning look seemed so natural! Her hair looked naturally curly like we've been hearing about, but without any scrunchy spray. It looked so pretty!

A few things she said while getting dressed. I think I heard her sincerely call Josie a cutie pie, which I thought was cute. And I think I heard her say "looking good Val (Jer's sister?), so I wonder how often they've hung out or been around each other to be that casual. Both of his siblings, but especially his brother, didn't seem to want to be on TV or involved in TLC at all. Respect.

The scenes with boob and dq: Michelle like asked JB if they could pray with Jinger, like asking if it was okay. Weird. Also I thought her gift to him was so funny and impersonal-- it said "your loving daughter" and I wouldn't be surprsied if JB forgets who even gave it to him after marrying off so many daughters.

The ceremony- how many times do the words "attractive" need to be mentioned in a wedding ceremony? And Chuck talked about how much they like each other. It felt like middle school gym class. I liked the sweet moments after the candle fiasco where their faces were just so close, like dangerously close, before the kiss. I bet JB was squirming watching that happen.

And lastly. Jinger saying "V stands for Vuolo!". No shit. What else? Did that need an explanation!?!?

Thank you for letting me rant my thoughts 15 hours and a new courtship too late.

Did anyone else notice that the soccer player friend of Jeremy's the one that was involved with the proposal was not at the wedding. I realize that is wife was expecting but I would think since they are such good friends he would have tryed to come to the wedding.

I said this in a previous thread, but a few things. That friend, who is a really great MLS soccer player, had a massive playoff game the day after the wedding (they lost. if they lost, and Luis was at the wedding, I would have been beyond angry). I really just don't believe the two are as close as TLC made it out to be. His wife had their baby about a week after the reenactment proposal, so almost 4 months ago. I'm sure Jeremy invited him, but I can't imagine that wedding being a priority in his life.

I thought the wedding was gorgeous. I loved everything about it  it looked like it costs what the other kids weddings cost combined plus some.

When Derrick dipped Jill my only thought was, for the love of god, Josh please stay in your seat.

Joy courting. That was the first time I've heard her talk and not sound like a 4 year old. She normally talks so babyish. It was really weird when she sounded normal. I got married at 21 after only dating 5 months, so I can't talk about age. Worked for us.

A couple thoughts on the wedding. Jinger makes a gorgeous bride. I'm a bit jealous of that dress and train. It sure made for some beautiful pictures.

Also, the moment when she gave Jim Bob his hankie, JB's emotions felt very genuine and sweet. However, Michelle's reaction was um....well it was typical Michelle. It's just so strange to me. I blubber at every milestone that my children have. If my children gave me something like that on their wedding day, I would probably lose it. I know JB is a controlling person, but he clearly loves his daughter.

I caught myself thinking the same thing "wow, he loves his daughter so much!" . But then I remembered that true love means protecting them and truly making sure they have a good life and are set up well for life. And then I'm not so sure how JB feels...

Shit.  I have PMS, i'm sad , i'm horny , and i'm crying watching this wedding. I'm not sure if I want a guy that looks at me like jinger looks at jeremy, but you know, with the sex, or just chocolate.

Derick is stupid, Josie a cutie (and Michelle stupid, why does she talk to her like she's 2?), and why was no one helping Jessa with the train when jinger was getting out of the church? The poor thing is really pregnant, if I were in her position I would fall just by looking at the floor

Thoughts about last night's episode (other than: OH NO, WHY JOY?):

The wedding was beautiful! Easily the classiest, most beautiful (and most expensive!) Duggar wedding yet (which, to be honest, is not saying much)!

Why did Jinger spend the night at Jill’s? And was there no chaperone during their devotion (other than TLC of course)?

Wow, Jinger gets a real wedding planner and a wedding designer and Jill and Jessa get Sierra?

Jill and Anna looked pregnant!

When JD says (about his suit) „it went to the dry-cleaner“, it sounded like „it went to the drag queen“, made me laugh.

How creepy is it that they always say „the day we’ve prayed for your whole life“? So when she was 2, did you pray she would get married and pregnant already?

What is Jinger’s expression during the ceremony? She doesn’t look happy and I have never seen that expression on her before… What is it?
