Wow.  1.8 is a sizable drop.  

I honestly think the public is played out with Duggar weddings and courtships.  They used to be rare, but now, they're all we see.  If they cut the show and just made the Duggar courtships/weddings a special, I think we would see maybe some more viewers.

Joy is going to be interesting.  For the vast majority of America, a 19 year old rushing into marriage is not something to be praised or promoted.  Even a lot of very conservative Christians do not want their kids getting married in their teens and may be uncomfortable watching a young-marriage storyline.  Plus she's never really gotten the screen time/publicity of the 4 eldest girls, so I'm not sure how connected viewers will feel to her.  And then there's Jana.  They better make up a storyline QUICK that involves the Duggar boys picking up more of the household chores, because viewers really DO like Jana, and no one will want to see her stuck with ALL the household work while her teenage sister drops everything to get married.

How many conservatives are on reality TV?

It's no about a teen getting married on TV.

It's a show aimed at conservatives-

Actually, most people in developed nations are pretty adverse to any teen getting married.

I reckon a lot of the 1.8m was for the courting announcement, which shows TLC knows what they're doing (and as I've said before, show so much contempt for their regular audience in the process...)

I don't think so.  There was a tiny bit of awkwardness going on.  Instead of tilting her head up a bit Jinger turned her head to the left which forced Jeremy to turn his to the right to meet her.  If they had kissed before I think they would have worked that out a bit better. It's possible that she did that to hide the kiss better from the audience but then she kind of did it again on their way out.  I don't want to overanalyze, lol, but I think it probably was their first (not his first cuz he did look like he knew what he was doing) .

Thank you for replying and for the screen cap of what went down.  I wonder if they even discussed it beforehand.  Like Jeremy saying, "Now when I kiss you, just let me kiss you and follow my lead" but then Jinger got all excited.

It's true, most people are adverse to teen marriage- but that just heightens the "freak show" aspect of the Duggars that they capitalized on in their early years. I'm fascinated by another horrible reality TV show produced by TLC- My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Most of the brides are between 15 and 19. There was even a girl who was considered "left on the shelf," getting too old, unmarriageable- she was 18!

So a lot of the people watching might not be conservatives thinking that 19 is a perfectly acceptable age to marry. I'll bet a lot of people watch because the Duggars, even though they dress normally and have nicer weddings, are still frickin' weird.

... and toxic, and misogynistic, and all the rest, but that's not super-relevant to my point.

I meant to say most people, including conservatives, aren't that bothered by teens getting married. One of the "Duck Dynasty" boys got married at 19. There was no controversy. The FYI channel had a show called "Teenage Newlyweds". Most viewer reactions to the show was positive.

Jill was the MOH at Derick's brothers wedding?  That's really tacky especially if the girl has a sister.

Jessa gives birth in late January/early February.

Joy and Austin married in April or May.

Jill and Jinger announce pregnancies by the time Joy marries.

Another courtship or 2 by September.

Joy pregnant by Thanksgiving.

An engagement or possibly wedding by NYE 2017.

Then imagine 2018 and 2019 based on those figures. And that's not even factoring more babies for Josh and Anna, or Jessa and Ben. Heck, maybe even Jinger may be on to #2 by then.

Ugh, I hadn't watched the episode. Seriously Derick? I can't imagine what would possess someone to jump out of their seat during a wedding, or what on earth would make them think that's appropriate, and insert themselves in the middle of the recessional. What an ass. And that dipping looks so uncomfortable and strange.

Also I've determined flower girls and ring bearers exist to steal the show. The last wedding I went to the flower girl hammed it up for the photographer. The groom was laughing hysterically and had to point to where here mother was sitting so that the wedding would continue.

Derick you man bunned freak, that wasnt as romantic and/or funny as you think it was. 

Johannah looked pretty miserable.

I liked Ben this episode, he didnt talk and i thought it was sweet when he was walking with johannah. 

The whole josie part felt like i was watching 19kac again.

I dont really have much to say on joy's courtship. I'm not suprised, the boys are uninteresting and for some reason jim bob doesnt want to sell off jana just yet so joy was the most likely candidate. Joy lost her spunk, like jinger, anyway and i think she has been baptised by full immersion in the koolaid.

Ugh with jessa and twins again. I know theres debate on her prenatal care but i think they are making it seem like she hasnt just because "we dont know how many we are having!" is more exciting than "second baby..." as many-a baby books will show, theres rarely as much excitement for baby #2. 

Jinger looked pretty but i'm gonna go against the grain and say her dress wasnt my favourite, the train was beautiful though.
