Somehow missed this family. Definitely jumping down that rabbit hole tonight.

I highly recommend Kressant's wedding video to start with. Although you might want to ease yourself in with the blogs before going full crazy.

I don't know much about the Morton's but they seem to be very interesting. How do I get an overview? When reading the blog it's pretty overwhelming how many kids they have, who's married to whom and so on.

I started by reading some background on FJ. Then I went and read some of the blog entries.  Addie hasn't updated in a while but it gives you a sense of her style.  If you read 2006-2008 there are multiple weddings and births. Capt brett likes to expound on his beliefs in his wedding/betrothal videos. That just dips you right into the crazy Kool aid without thr back story of you everyone is.

Well.  That sure was something to read.   I think Adeline's read Gone With the Wind too many times.

Edit:  Started browsing the Morton blog again and came across this - http://mortonclan.blogspot.com/2007/09/note-from-michael.html    "The way of a man and his maid"   Snort.

I followed some of those links and was reminded of the total crazy that has always been the Mortons. This is, and has been since I first read it, one of my very favorites. They use Ava's words to promote their own agenda - but clearly they know nothing about her. Her two abortions, three marriages, live in lovers. Apparently, none of that matters when she utters one statement that is Morton approved.

It kills me that they don't even tell the young couple until a couple of days before the wedding. Or, actually,  they don't even say what they tell the young woman. Probably just, "This is your wifely duty and how to please the Lord and your new Patriarch." Just one more duty for her to shoulder.  Ugh. Throwing 2 kids into a bedroom and telling them to make more soldiers for the Lord.

I'm reading this for the 10th time now and it stills fascinates me. I would really like to know when exactly they fell for the whole QF-movement. Michael Morton seems to come from a big family himself, but Jeanine has "only" 4 siblings. They were both saved pretty late at 19 or 20. Maybe this was the moment they were sucked into fundamentalism.

Although I'm sitting at the office right now I just fell down the rabbit whole. Again.

So they are taking an eight year old boy with them to Tallahassee to go shopping for dresses and china? He surely did have a blast. Oh and of course - you cannot trust your wife and four daughters to be out alone in the liberal world. They wouldn't be safe. But if you send a little boy with them everything will be ok. Because boys have penisses. And that's all you need.

I need alcohol.

just wanted to transplant this down from the baby makin' thread: addie changed her profile pic on instagram, and it now features a very pregnant katie. i'm not sure if the picture is new, but if it is, then it would seem katie's 8th is well on its way.

A picture of the most recent blushing bride just ten years ago, from the Morton blog.

I suppose it doesn't surprise me, when I really think about it, that they are all inter-marrying. They spend their entire lives with the same families. Of course they're going to marry one of them; where else will they meet someone willing to buy into their beliefs?

I just can't get over this picture. She was a baby then and not much more than one now. Just ten years between this and making babies of her own. Such a strange, strange life.

I'm bumping this post for a TBT Morton post.  I present:

Mortons at the creation museum and New Year's costume ball!

Bonus photos of the Campanas and Voddie B!

I have to add this.  More pictures from the NY ball including explanations for costumes.  I guess I shouldn't be shocked by the Confederate soldiers and the love shown for the flag.

Love that flag, dear boy.

Uhhh...

Awesome to see such creative celebrations of historical figures such as: some missionary's wife, some 18th century doctor's wife, and Jane Austen wearing a floor-length dress under an ankle-length dress so nobody is subjected to the sight of heel!

Morton memory lane is one of my favorite roads. Their brand of their version of their god makes life so entertaining. I mean, really, where else can you have so many WTF's? in one 60 second period? Whenever you think you know all the answers, just check the Morton history. You will find yourself is such a state of wonder and up being down and left being right.

The baby in the bonnet clearing saying 'save me'

then the child dressed as a shepherd clearly giving side eye to the kid holding the gun.

I know I'll never make it through all the Morton posts since there are hundreds of photos, but I'm thinking I need to regularly dredge up some random WTF event they hosted/went to and post it here.

I've decided I couldn't wait until Monday.

Found this gem on the Sanders' blog.

i present: Darth's courtship:

http://www.roravalley.com/blog/?p=779

I can't, I can't.  They had barely talked and it was decided he should ask about her from his sisters rather than get his own opinion from talking to her. Because of lost heart pieces and all.

Addie's version.  Although, of course, there are about 5 more posts after it detailing every single day of the visit with oodles of beautiful sun drenched pictures.  He asked to court her 5/3/10, they spent 3 days together and got engaged on the 3rd day, 5/13/10.  Married on July 17th.

I have never bought that they barely talked. The families had spent years together. Noah was in at least two of the S'Morton weddings and the Sanders family was in attendance at all of them. They did the NYE cosplay together every year. They traveled in the exact same circles with the exact same families, as both blogs attest to. Do they really expect people to believe that these 'kids' spent years together but never talked?

If that is actually the truth, the families are all even more fucked up than I thought. Put all the kids together but don't let them talk to anyone of the opposite sex/certain age/what the fuck ever.
