Jill & Jessa specials coming - MERGED

For those shocked by JD and Joseph's seeming prioritization of the scandals, what were you expecting from 2 people indoctrinated since birth in this system?  If their sisters are not allowed to mourn what happened to them, how are these 2 going to develop a healthy outrage?   JB and his Cow turn out emotionally stunted people  for Jesus.     No other outcome is possible or even wanted.

I think Boob probably pushed JD and joseph forward, to sort of make a point that not all their older boys turned out to be sex toy waving, porn star banging sister diddlers like Josh.

Watched the JD and Joseph video... interesting. Basically they are betrayed and pissed. It is also probably the most i have managed to see JD spit out in an interview.

I think their strategy is: Accountabilty among siblings. Never let a child be alone anywhere, only together with siblings who will rat them out when one does soemthings against the rules. Jill seems to have been the best at this Job.

also the way Jinger was talking during her talking head about how it was and she looked so sad when chair buying with Jessa - who looked all manic - it seems Jinge is taking harder or Jessa just processed it differently - because she was totally smling and giddy in that scene - which again is disturbing - to me at least

Do the Duggars get any say in advertising on their show? I would watch *religiously* if all the ads were for Mirena, Nexplanon, and other birth control! :my_rolleyes:

Yes, isn't it great.  .

I'm still bothered about Jill and Jessa throwing their younger sisters under the bus during the Fox interview. Oh, it was nothing, just light touching over the clothes, we didn't even know about it until our parents told us. Sorry ladies, it was a lot more than that for your little sisters. You should not have minimized their experience. :angry-cussingblack:

I have thought a lot about this, and I think they may have been protecting their sisters from the suggestion of impurity. Light touching over clothes while you are sleeping and not even aware of it leaves you "innocent."  Having a boy get his fingers inside your panties, even if you did nothing to provoke his lust/curiosity and are unable to stop him (because he acts so quickly and/or he is stronger and/or an authority figure) may give a girl a bad reputation in Fundie circles.  I am not saying it was okay, but I don't think it was throwing the younger girls under the bus. The intent may have been good.

I kind of thought she looked relieved.  Her baby is born, she is not in excruciating pain any more, and she is going to the hospital where they will take care of her.  I connect her expression with the feeling, "It is going to be all right, I can relax."  But maybe it's because that is how I felt after both my pregnancies. ;)

Anyone think that deep, deep down in their souls, JD and joe wanna beat the sh$t outta Josh?

Except that I don't think it is all that "deep" down in their souls, I agree completely.

Something to keep in mind for the girls -- Believe me when I say that they will never, ever feel the end of the "blame and shame" card.  The whole shitty system they live in won't let them.  It's hard enough to be a sexual abuse victim if it's kept "private."  I can't begin to imagine how difficult it must be to have been victimized in front of the world.

This system prizes virginity, innocence, and virtue above all else in women.  And now it's a public fact that at least two more girls had their "innocence" stolen by Josh.  (Yes - touching can make you feel just as dirty and rotten and unworthy and unlovable.)  Their perceived market value in fundie-land has decreased significantly.

Years and years of competent therapy should be mandated and funded by Joshley.  The whole business won't disappear on its own, and it's enough to screw you up with emotional and physical intimacy issues for life.:tw_cry:

I remember once the local news in NWArkansas had a segment on the Duggars -- I think it was when #13 was born -- and then followed it directly with a segment on birth control. That can't have been coincidence. :pb_lol:

Let's get real. People are ONLY going to be watching to hear what Anna said. Pretty shameful to trot poor grieving Anna out for $$$. In her mind, she has lost everything. The Duggars are boring. It will be the same thing day in day out. Watch Jill and Derick pack! Watch Israel go to the doctor! Watch how Jessa and Ben adjust to living on their own! Watch Jessa take a birthing class! Watch Jill take the midwife exam! Maybe the only interesting part will see how Jessa handles birth. MAYBE. Also, Michelle will show her face again in that episode and I don't want to see or hear JB & Michelle after the first scandal.  I'm still very upset about how they handled it and then went on Fox and downplayed it all.

It's from one of the TLC Counting On promotion clips.

Commenters are going crazy under the Duggar articles today. This comment sums up the situation, "I realize this whole board is ridiculous. The same posts over and over."

Additional comments since this morning:

"Let them disappear and take the Kardashians with them." (Yes and please take all of the housewives too)

"I get the feeling that they're most upset by the slaying of their cash cow." (TLC is upset too)

"This TLC program brought to you by Subway." (Jared Fogel reference)

"To many Tatar Tot Casseroles!" (Let's never mention that dish again. I feel like it is prison food.)

"We haven't heard from Michelle is such a long time, so refreshing. If you dare to watch their special be prepared to hear Michelle's zombie, little girl voice on the 911 call." (Totally agree. I don't miss Michelle at all.)

"Another crazy thing in this spectacle is the Duggar Watch Party. They are promoting a Watch Party on their FB pages. How appropriate is it to host a watch party for crying and throwing Josh to the wolves? I thought watch parties were celebrations." (I thought that the Duggars don't have TV nor cable. Are they going over to Deanna's house to watch)

"So this is basically 19 kids and counting with a different name. Way to fool everyone, TLC." (Are you really surprised? It was a cash cow for TLC.)

"Today is Dec. 12th, Our Lady of Guadalupe. I wonder if Dillard Ministries will show respect to the Catholics of Central America on this day? Or will they continue to brow beat them into conversion? Oh wait, they're probably not in Central America on a 'long term mission'." (Do the Dillards even know the story about Guadalupe? I would love TLC to tape them celebrating. Our course their version of Christianity is the only right version. Silly Rabbit.)

The countdown begins for the show tomorrow. Waiting for a recap and reviewer comments.

Random thought: JD is surprisingly well-spoken. I'd never noticed it before, but watching the clips it's especially striking after listening to his embarrassingly inarticulate sisters. Considering how much time they've spent in front of the cameras and doing speaking gigs, it's ridiculous how badly the older girls express themselves. Meanwhile, JD has averaged about half a word per episode and he speaks well on camera. Joseph was pretty good as well...the "whenevers" through me a bit until I remembered that whenever=when, and he stumbled a bit, but still better than his sisters. He'll likely improve with time.

I like Joe, he's always seemed really good natured and easygoing. He also never struck me as particularly stupid, which I have to say I often thought about JD. Now I think that may be largely from scripting, maybe he just doesn't do well under the pressure of having to remember what he's SUPPOSED to say. Anytime he's tried to speak before at any length it seemed like he struggled to find words to complete his thoughts, and I remember at least in the earliest specials, often Josh would then chime in with a clearer, more charismatic comment. I wonder if part of the difference in attitude is him stepping out from Josh's shadow and rejecting the false agreeableness that Josh perfected and just plain saying what he thinks without trying to self-edit too much.

ETA: But yeah, Joe's not very articulate in his responses in large part because he doesn't know how to address the events as they unfolded in the media. It gives his talking head a confused, meandering quality that I don't think would be there if he had been able to reference the molestations or the Ashley Madison reveal with plain language. They don't even seem to have code words for it, no referring to 'Josh's teen problems' or 'the affair'. It's all 'the first thing' and 'the second thing'.

Yeah, I've always found Joe a little endearing for some reason as well. I think I've always liked that he has been particuarly close to Jinger despite the 'Jender Roles'

I think as much as we quite fairly diss Clown for being a joke of a higher education institution, it's a good place for him to be right now. He's somewhere he can make friends and be his own person without being in the 'shadow' of Josh/his sisters the way he has been on the show. I think some space away from his family is a good thing right now.

Some space away from family is a good thing for all of us in the modern world.  It is especially the case for people who have lived in a bubble, especially a public bubble, like the Duggars.

On the subject of Crown College, I have had students transferring from accredited colleges who did not have any better preparation than students who came from unaccredited colleges.  Often, lack of accreditation doesn't connect to deficiencies in every subject.  So especially for someone coming from the Duggar SOTDRT, Crown may actually offer some useful academic content.

It is a good thing also that JB seems to feel that it helps the brand to have a college student in the family.  Maybe with Joseph having set a precedent,  some of the younger ones can hope to go to college and maybe even go beyond Crown.

I don't think I've ever heard JD speak his thoughts as coherently as he did in that clip, either. He and Joe have always been kind of close mouthed, but when JD talks, I usually think he comes across as pretty goofy. He seemed to have a very clear understanding of what he felt and why he felt it. I was impressed, and also that he apparently actually told Josh that he didn't want to be like him. He seems like someone who really does try to live by his principles, which I think is kind of nice (in spite of the fact that my principles are totally different from his).

To me it screams that there is a new PR group in town...

I would be happy if it was all their own words - they were all (the children) impacted by Josh's actions, both as a teen and later.

I feel much less (minimal) sad for the parents - they could have perhaps stopped all the "situations" :my_rolleyes:.

Remember at Jessa's rehearsal dinner, Jinger was in tears talking about things she's gone through.

She seems to think there are things for which she needs forgiveness, based on what we've seen on the show. I remember feeling that way when I was a young teen being abused by an older teen...

What else can they say?  How about plain old nothing?

I've felt this way since the beginning of Joshgate. Just have some dignity and shut up about it. They kept it going with all the blather.
