Somewhere on his fb is a bunch of pictures of exgay women who are flashing their wedding rings. So sad. I think it's some kind of actual group or site.

That is really sad. Hopefully, those "ex-gay" women are bi, if they are lesbians who now brainwashed themselves into thinking that they are straight, things won't go well in the long run. You can't fool yourself forever, and your husband and children will suffer too, even if you try to play the perfect wife, they will notice that something is off.

I am just imagining the look on the embroidery shop employees face when he came traipsing in with his blazer. You want what? But why?

I am thinking that has to be the strangest thing ever stitched onto a jacket.... but who knows.

Oh, but don't forget, the new trend in fundie/christian marriage is submission and fulfilling the role God assigned you to create a holy marriage. What is it they say, a holy marriage not a happy marriage? Remember, any christian woman can be married to any christian man if they just follow the roles. Happiness and love are both feelings, but duty to God is the goal and if you just do it right, you'll maybe be happy and maybe not be beaten. Or whatever the story goes.

You clearly are an evil egalitarian!

Okay, so I went to scroll back through XGG's facebook to find the ex-gay women post for myself.

He... posted this article: http://europe.newsweek.com/putins-party ... age-330013 (not breaking because it's Newsweek) about Russia's new "Straight Pride" flag.

"Folks this is Russia. Even Russia has better sense not to promote the evil of homosexuality."

Does he realize? Does he... he doesn't does he? He... the... and the that...?

While American conservatives have traditionally thought that communism equals free love, "actually existing socialist countries" are rather puritannical, and saw homosexuality as a sign of "capitalist decadence." It is still illegal in Cuba and North Korea for this reason. The Eastern European countries in the Soviet bloc never experienced the "sexual revolution" or a gay rights movement. Stalin promoted "family values" such as Russian patriotism, large families, and the idea of women as mothers and homemakers. China recently de-criminalized homosexuality, but I doubt that gay marriage will occur any time soon, more because of their Confucian heritage (in which straight marriage and having a son is seen as a social and familial obligation) and less because of the Chinese Communist Party's views on the subject. Vietnam never had any laws for or against homosexuality, but it was generally considered taboo to talk about it, until recently. The first Vietnamese gay pride parade was held last year:

That's interesting. I've always had the impression that East Germany was different in many aspects than the other countries in the Warsaw Pact. Do you think this was true?

I'm friends with him and it's all the same. He does mention Dede from time to time but not often. He had to take her to the ER the other day because she was having intense pain in her...I guess reproductive area. Cramping I guess. He must have called it something else like "down there" I don't know what caused it, she came home and was fine. Maybe I'll message him to ask him what Dede does all day.

Wow I'm surprised she has been on the DL for so long. No comedy or acting stuff to speak of - very weird for someone so outgoing. I tend to think she had to go on the DL so she wouldn't lose all access to her son, but it's been about 18 or so months since she went AWOL.

I can't help but to wonder if she has left Greg and he is just putting up a front? If Greg is willing to go along with faking a pregnancy why not fake a marriage?

It's very sad about her son. She was a very active mom, his primary caretaker for the first several years of his life. After she married Greg she lost everything.

I'm not sure what the Xgay attraction was. Before and after the divorce, she lived a very solid middle class to upper middle class lifestyle. Then she met Xgay and went bananas. She lost so much being married to Greg - it is possible she could be madly in love but I don't think that is the reason.

Didn't she also work in the nursing field before she took up with XGay? I don't think she was an RN, but maybe an LPN (licensed practical nurse)?

well poland for example have a long tradition od being catholic( even john paul 2 was polish. ) whereas eadt germany was the heartland of protestantism( luther came from thuringia which was in the south eadt and which the west traded for westberlin). Also the east always looked to the west it was like an unequal siblings rivalry and lrss to the east. Party line was encouraged which was rhe new religion in the late 70s /80s churches were left alone and where evwn a kind of safe haven. ( the first demonstrations and peace groups where mostly sheltered by churches)

any way east germany has as you may have heard ( or not) more equality earlier on so while the catholcs further esdt still propagated the catholic church standard, the germans were more into communisms everyones equal line of things which showed in the attitude to nudity and work force )

hm, when talking about the DDR regime/east germany and homosexuality, I think we shouldn´t drop the very important fact under the desk that, while in the DDR they nominally hadn´t very stringent anti-homosexuality laws, this did certainly not translate into a tolerant and open handling of any homosexual culture.

Homosexuality was frowned upon as something bourgeois, something "the capitalists do", the political aspect of homosexuality was way more of an issue than the biological - the SED thought when they eliminated the laws on it, they would eliminate "the problem" because the ideal socialist human in the DDR was a straight worker.

So LGBT people were viewed as potential political criminals, as "spies" and "enemies of the state" .

The Stasi also kept so called rosa Listen/ pink lists with LGBT people, who got systematically terrorized, ranging from occupational bans to forced commital to mental asylums.

The supposed tolerance of LGBT people was - like almost everything in the DDR - just a Potemkin village.
