Also worth mentioning there is a spinoff book that came out a couple of years ago called Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig. Stays very true to Ms. Mitchell's original story, but is from Rhett's perspective, and gives his backstory. McCaig is known for historical fiction and even weaves in some real Charleston families, like the Ravenels. It was comissioned by the Mitchell estate.
