Fundie Family tree to parallel that of Harry Potter

There are only so many fundie families and if many of them marry into one another I see the family trees becoming much like that in Harry Potter. If your a fan and have seen how the families overlap maybe you can see this parallel.

This parallel is easy to see in a lot of places.

Where my grandmother is from, everyone in the entire county appears to be related somehow. Unless you moved into town within the last twenty years or so. Anyway, theres a very small list of people I am NOT related to out there, and the list got even smaller when I did my family tree. I found out my ex is my fifth cousin. I wouldn't be surprised if in actuality, the people my family is related to is limited to the families who have moved in within the last twenty years, and have not been in that county for generations.

So yes, if the fundies only marry eachother, everyone will soon overlap. But thats just about anywhere. If you only marry those who are around you, everyone around you will soon be family.

The complications from this are already starting to be seen by the FLDS community: phoenixnewtimes.com/2005-12-29/news/forbidden-fruit/

Prior to the 1990s, there were 13 known cases of fumarase deficiency worldwide - since then, there have been 20 more cases in one FLDS neighborhood alone. The FLDS have been resistant to doctors' suggestions that they prevent it by avoiding marrying relatives.

Exhibit A: The S'Mortons.

I'm still working on compiling their descendants. It's very, very odd to me that 3 children from each family married each other - that's a lot of double cousins!

Exhibit B is the Beasley/Grady/Hipps/Hutchins/Rehm/Wissmann families:

Abby Grady is married to Caleb Beasley

Daniel Beasley is married to Rachel Wissmann

Josiah Wissmann is married to Abbi Rehm

Anna Rehm is married to Aaron Grady

Hannah Grady is married to Samuel Hutchins

Mark Hutchins is married to Hilary Hipps

Emily Hipps is married to Josh Beasley

*or is the Morton grandmother married to the Smith grandfather

Even though they are not the same structure, I assume that The House That Jack Built, Had Gadya, and I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly will be next.

Just sharing my earworms . . .

Twisted family trees make me think of this classic:

The original version by Lonzo and Oscar is wonderful if only to hear them say 'widder'.

I'd never heard of fumarase deficiency before, and this was utterly fascinating. Thanks!
