What Would You Name Them?

I'd do traditional names with virtue middle names, in alphabetical order. Abigail Grace, Beatrice Faith, Charlotte Joy, Daniel Justice, Edward Courage, etc.

I actually named one of my daughters Abigail Grace,

I would name my fundie daughters Cuntella, Siphilina, and Chlamidelya, and my fundie boys Herpeson, Damaso, and Gaylord. As long as they stayed deep within the sheltered, homeskooled world of fundiedom, they would be fine and would be blissfully unaware that anything is wrong with their names. However, should they dare to breach the barriers, they would be punished with knowledge of their shame, and would be ridiculed and mocked by the cruel secular world. I am a bitch.

While doing some family genealogy, I came across, on my father's side, a female relative named... Experience! I can't even imagine! No Puritans in my Nova Scotian history either.

I want to suggest that Jill goes with Chinese names for her kids. So hipster! So ethnic! Much vintage!!11!1! Will work with the Chinese girl they will adopt to save her from abortion and socialism and atheism! Then she can use the old chinese peasant tradition of Chinese names meaning Number 1 son, Number 2 son, Number 1 daughter, Number 2 daughter etc etc.

Maybe you could try a naming scheme like these people: kelloggshow.com/faqs/

Their kids are called Kerry, Grady, Brody, Kady, Kenny, Dally, Cardy, Maddy, Rowdy, Emmy, Elly and Coby.

The possibilities are endless!

Rowdy? As in the adjective? That seems like asking for trouble.

I would give the girls soft feminine names followed by jurisdictions for middle names:

Lilly laundry, Pansey Potties, Carnation Cook, Daffodil Diaper, Sweet Pea Sweeper

Boys would have MANLEY names: In Charge, Bossman, Pumbing Line, Rock of Ages etc

I would probably go for a traditional Roman naming convention. If it's a boy give him a not too far out there Biblical name (like Matthew or Jonah) but if it's a girl, she gets a feminized version of my headships' name. Every time I'd have another girl I'd just add a number on the end, because what woman wants a sense of worth and personal identity?

And they all live in an RV! The Rodrigueses have some catching up to do.

Something that conflates conservative Christianity with American-style capitalism. So something like Faith Free-Market for a girl and Elijah Small-Government for a boy.

I love this! Fred Fiat, Isabel Interest, Amanda Amortize, Deborah Derivative, Ethan Externality, and Charlie Collateralized Debt Obligation.

ETA: I have long wanted the next car model made by the Fiat car company to be called the Currency.

I would have four boys in a row and name them Matthew,Mark,Luke and John.

Then I would go for the rest of the dusciples, like Peter and Paul, and the greats,Abraham and Noah.

And a few special women,like Mary,Magdeline and Rebecca. :)

I suppose if I couldn't stand kids but was obligated to have at least a dozen for God, they would get Greek fundie names.

Girls: Evangelia, Sebastie, Seraphina, Anna, Elisabet, Panayiota

Boys: Timotheos, Makarios, Theophilus, Joachim, Iakovos, Anastasios

Man, it is too bad I'm not having any more kids. The next would definitely be Charlie Collaterized Debt Obligation- boy or girl!

(On Halloween)

Going to bed early is a bit of a struggle. Its easy enough to get the kids down, but my husband and I have a hard time going to bed that early. Once, we decided to turn on a lamp and read in the darkness. The electricity was shut off. A couple other times, we tried to procreate. Both times, I miscarried. So we took it to mean that NO fun is to be had on Halloween!

I don't know. The chance of her ovulating on Halloween is about 1/28 each year, the chance is a fertile person getting pregnant after having sex at the right time is supposed to be about 1/6, and the chance of a miscarriage is about 1/10 (but a lot of those are so early they might not be detected) each pregnancy. It's more likely that she got pregnant sometime between September and December, and blamed it on evil Halloween.

I'd go with names that have meaning and maybe reflect my particular culture or religious "brand". It could be a mix of naming after people that inspire me, using Biblical names and using names with meanings.

I'd be inspired by some of the baby naming in Genesis, where names are tied to meanings. [This is more obvious if you understand Hebrew - in English, you don't understand what the name Isaac has to do with laughter, for example.] Some specific Hebrew meaning-names that I like are:

Eliana (God answered me)

Emuna (faith)

Nechama (comfort/solace)

Neshama (soul)

Talia (dew of God)

Hodaya (thanksgiving)

Hillel (praise)

Jonathan (God has given)

Hasya (God's mercy)

Tikvah (Hope)

Matan (gift)

Shira (song)

Ora (light)

Noam (pleasantness)

Chaya/Chaim (life)

Ahava (love)

Shalom (peace)

Rafael (God heals)

Tikvah is an old lady name, and I haven't heard Ahava used as a name. Ahuva (beloved) is used as a name, but also with the older generation. I haven't heard Hasya used except in literature, I think it's used in more religious circles, and I haven't heard of Neshama except for Carlebac's daughter. The rest of the names are good, but Eliana and Emuna have an Angloish quality to them, not that that's a bad thing. Talia, Hodaya, Matan and Shira are super popular.

They would all be named Stephen with the corresponding number after - so Stephen 1, Stephen 2, all the way to Stephen 19. That way, no matter which kid I'm talking to, I don't need to worry about saying the wrong name.

Did I just usurp Moochelle as Mom of the Year? I feel like I may have!

It is snark. What's funny is reading some of the very earnest, very irate comments

I've noticed she'll do several that are just tooooo over the top, then reign it in for a few posts to reel people back in. It's a pretty funny blog.

:greetings-clappingyellow: Yay! One of my most favorite Dr. Seuss poems. Too many people have never heard of it, which is a crime. So for any of you who haven't, here you go: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/171612. (My personal favorite has always been Zanzibar Buck Buck McFate.)

Well, now I have to post this song:

Of course, I could have The Boy sing the song, and just replace Dave with Jake. When in doubt, I just cheered kids on his soccer team by screaming "way to go Jacob!" since that accounted for half the team. The other half was named Josh.
