This guy is nuts. Good for that representative walking out.

every president has done nothing to stop it. and it is not the presidents job to stop it anyway.

During the GWB years, the Republicans were in charge of every branch of government. If they were really intent on ending abortion through passing some really stringent federal law that would have knocked the teeth out of Roe v. Wade, they would have done it.

I saw this in my facebook feed and sure enough 2 of my more conservative male friends on their liked it. I didn't bother reading the article. I really do wonder what the hell all these whiny ass conservatives are going to bitch about once Obama is out of office. What will be even better is if some conservative is in the white house, then we will see how critical thinking goes out the window and the president can do no wrong. One just has to look at the Bush years.

Can you imagine the uproar if a Muslim or Jewish or any non Christian politician did the same thing?

I honestly think that the only way the US will see any positive change is if we can have a Republican president who can push progressive reforms and keep the base in line, kind of like what Otto von Bismarck did in 19th century Germany (BTW Bismarck established the basis for the modern German welfare state and was such a solid conservative that he was able to get the establishment to go along with his reforms). Richard Nixon was sort of that president in many ways, but his personal demons brought him down. I honestly think that if Nixon hadn't flamed out, he probably could have gotten a national healthcare system established.

Actually, it's the president's responsibility to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. The Supreme Court upheld a woman's right to abortion in Roe v. Wade. If Obama did anything other than nothing, he's breaking his oath.

Nixon did establish support for HMO's and it would have been interesting to see what he would have done if he hadn't left in disgrace. I suprisingly actually had heard of Bismark and thought it was interesting we modeled some of our social systems after his. The whole old school guard of smaller govt the Republicans seem to espouse seems so muddled and lost. If anything the Liberatarian party maybe closer to the ideals of small govt. The Republicans just need to stay out of private affairs and realizing grown ups can make their own decisions.

Actually abortion rates go down when a Democratic president and Congress is in power, and up when its a Republican.

A million times this. Right-leaning politicians talk a good game about being "pro-life," but it's just to appease the louder members of their base. They know damn well that, were they to stand up as one and demand the end of Roe v. Wade, they'd lose their more moderate base, and would be voted out of office.

I figured Robert Aderholt had something to do with this. This kind of thing is right up his alley. Fuck you Robert Aderholt! You created this messed up event. And fuck you James Dobson!

Reminds me of this UMP ho said to a reporter : "abortion, of course, is an important right, but it's really something socialist ... Not for us, the UMP." This is the UMP that legalized abortion. You win

President Obama appears to be doing a piss-poor job of promoting abortion, frankly. Both the absolute number of abortions and the number of abortions per thousand women have dropped since he took office.

http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html

And also I suspect that that number will continue to drop thanks to the contraceptive mandate in evil, evil Obamacare. 35% of American women don't use a contraceptive method consistently and correctly... and they account for 95% of our ghastly-high rate of unintended pregnancy. Making the damn things easier and cheaper to get can only help with that.

Give it a rest. Just another talking point so the hyper-conservative crowd can feel good about their supposed moral superiority. They don't really care about reducing abortion as long as its illegal. Then they can just turn the other way plus those evil sluts will get what they deserve when they are harmed from illegal abortions! Win win. These types are really what made me more of a libertarian. Mind your own business!

I'm too lazy to go look up sources, but I am absolutely certain Dobson has used the "abortion president" meme before to refer to Democratic presidents other than Obama. In addition, either he or another Moral Majority minion had referred to Dukakis as the "abortion candidate".

Nothing new here, they recycle the same tired bullshit after a certain length of time and pretend they have a new insight.

Kind of like how gun sales go down when a Republican is in office, and up when a Democrat is in office- despite the fact that Obama didn't even touch the topic of arms until Sandy Hook, and then the NRA made it clear to him they'd fight to the death on the issue. And then there was the 2012 apocalypse scare, which leads us to the fact that holy moly, the arms industry has been bathing in gold for the last few years. There's nothing quite like capitalizing on the stupidity of others.

That Obama... he's doing such a horrible job. Let's review. Obama sucks at:

1. Being the abortion president

2. Being a socialist (corporate profits are up)

3. Being a terrorist (I'm still waiting for him to blow up airports and malls like one of my conservative friends said he would if elected. "You just wait," she said. Mmmmkay. Still waiting.)

4. TAKING YER GUNS! I haven't seen his jackboots going door-to-door taking anybody's guns -- yet

5. Being the anti-Christ. I don't really know what's involved in being the anti-Christ but I'm just going to assume he sucks at it. Plus, no end-times yet, as far as I can tell, life goes on, with the economy improving little by little.

I'm sure he's sucking at more than just this list.

You forgot 6. EVERYTHING. Hell, he's even responsible for Hitler's rise to power, the fall of Rome, and the godless non-KJV versions of the bible. There ain't nuthin' he's innocent fer.

He's also responsible for Bill Clinton getting a beej (or several) from Monica Lewinsky. Snerk.

However, here is one thing President Obama is guilty of, an incredible burn on Speaker of the House John Boehner.
