Is this "business" Stacy's running scam-y, like the thing MckMama's doing, or is it just some harmless "lady hobby"? I haven't really looked into it, what with all the other VF/NCFIC stuff going on.

It's an MLM type business that sells essential oils and other homeopathic stuff. So it's a scam on two different levels.

Yeah, I knew she was claiming it could do everything short of curing cancer, but I was wondering if it was the business itself, or just the way she was doing it. Thanks for the reply.

Here's the link to an article about Young Living and its founder, courtesy of a site called Quackwatch.org:

ETA: Young Living did $18 million in sales volume in 2013, and they have a B+ credit rating score. HQ is located in Lehi, Utah.

I weep for the future of this country when a company like this can do sales of that amount.

The quack watch article was fascinating, in a horrifying kind of way.

I'm currently making lavender essential oil. I'm beginning to see what I'm doing wrong. I make no claims for it except it smells good and I give it away. :mouse-shock:

From the article:

Although he had no training in obstetrics or midwifery, he decided to deliver his wife's baby underwater in a whirlpool bath at the health club. He left the baby under water for almost an hour, causing the death of an apparently healthy infant on September 4, 1982. Although the coroner said that the baby would have lived if she had been delivered in a conventional manner, Young was never charged in that case.

WHY THE HELL wasn't he charged???

When I think of all the hoops I have to jump through every two years, all the documentation I have to provide, and all the money I have to pay just to retain my credentials when people like this can claim to be anything they want and make millions, I want to cry. I do not understand why we allow this sort of stuff to go on. This guy and his MD associates make me :disgust:

The local prosecutor should go ahead and tee him up for murder. There's no SOL on murder.

Yeah, but Stacey's so proud to be associated with that specimen.....

Why the hell did he leave the baby underwater for an hour if he wasn't trying to kill her? This is clearly murder. Everyone knows that babies, once they are born, need to breathe.

lol, in looking up information about yl and essential oils and yl founder, I found an article about how evil doTerra is and why YL is evil. And one about why Quackwatch is all wrong and bad and is founded by evil big-pharma out to get rid of all natural health items.

Oh, and Young's arrests in Spokane for being unlicensed and practicing medicine and the death of the baby that was ruled accidental death are public knowledge, so there's no hiding his sins. Found it on page one just typing in his name, so good luck hiding those arrests. And his so-called naturopath doctorate degree from the 80s from an unaccredited university and said university has also changed its name...hmmm. FTR this man's track record is very poor and quackwatch is not needed to discover any of it.

Young Living Essential Oils is a MLM scam, and it's run by a really bad guy.

Quackwatch did a good write up on him. quackwatch.org/11Ind/young.html

Edited to remove stuff that other posters had already mentioned.

Wonder what the heck this FB post from James is all about: "REJOICING! I don't want to go into the details, but today I am rejoicing that LORD of Hosts goes before His people. No weapon formed against us will prosper and every tongue that rises up against us in judgment will be condemned. God is so good!" 130 "Likes" and look at the comments.

James has been awfully active in FB threads about the VF scandal lately, so do you think it might have something to do with that?

Meh. He could just be rejoicing that people still buy his products despite the glowing write-ups and reviews at Quackwatch and FJ.

Essential oils (both doterra & young living) are BIG here (utah county). You can't go anywhere without seeing their obnoxious vinyl car stickers.

My DD's orthodontist was in the same building as their distribution office. So the whole damn building smelled of hippie.
