Is having children rational?

Our intellects are fighting our instincts on this one - the desire to have children, IMO, is largely irrational. Deciding when and how, though, is where we can override, or at least outthink, our instincts. I don't think the parts of our brains that think "MUST MAKE BABIES, HAVE SEX" have any connections to the parts that go out and get the Pill, ya know?

But I don't see having children as entirely irrational. Of course most people want to. And most people do. If that doesn't happen, we don't go on.
