I think that the "socialism" that most people in this thread would like to see some parts implemented in the US is "social-democracy", akin to Scandinavia and Canada (amongst others). Not "socialism" like Chavez-lead Venezuela (I'd hate to live there at the moment, I'm sorry for you...) or anything close to "communism". Tea Party members love to yell "socialism!! RUN!!" each time the govt. tries to do something that would help the people but that would need more $$ in tax revenues. Since these $$ would likely come from the super rich, not Joe the Plumber, I can't fathom why Tea Party nutbags are so against the idea. Romney promised to make Bush's tax cuts permanent...As Warren Buffet said: "I can't believe that my secretary ends up paying a bigger amount of taxes each your than I do; something's not normal here". Of course you want to make a tax rate reasonable, so as to not make it confiscatory.

It sounded genuine to me too... It was like you could feel her pain... I'm not sure what made it sound so convincing? Perhaps she should focus on a carrier as an author, because her story was so touching it made me instantly feel for her. She could probably write good stories...

Along the way Misti figured out that not only could those on the internet bolster her ego, but they could also fund her lifestyle. Well, to a point. She's a pretty hopeless scammer.

If I had to guess why she comes back here it's a. she actually enjoyed being here and found a sense of community that she lacked elsewhere in her life and b. she wants to lord it over those who outed her by coming back and messing with their emotions.

Have people given her money before? Do you think that's what she intended with her story? Does anyone think Kelly actually will give Elle something (send her some dollars or her own e-book for free)?

Oh my goodness! I'll head to the disaster response tent village that's popped up down the street; surely someone's donated your preferred brand. I can't bear to know that there is so much suffering in the world :( While I'm there, I'll check out the portable shower trucks because I'm curious. How do those work? Are there shower STALLS? Is it like a car wash for people where you just strip down, put yourself in neutral, and get sprayed from all angles? So many questions.

If you look at the post requoted by Austin you'll see that it is a rather long story that covers a lot of bases. On both the Buck/Hale and Shrader threads we saw those types of posts. If anyone had a question or cornered her about a conflict there were always more details to come and a response that filled in the gaps. She is a woman who knows a little about a lot of things. That helps her spin the tale and run the scam.

I think there is a high level of dysfunction in a person so young who could troll so well. Before the car crapped out I was going to do a road trip and some field research. Now that there is a vehicle on the horizon, I've promised myself a field trip as soon as it becomes a reality.

Burps, I'll donate to your rock and roll fund, I'd rather see you have the double tenner I was going to donate to her.
