I'm hoping this professor gets back to me! I took one whole class on HIV/AIDS and then several other classes (International Health, Social Epidemiology, Epidemiology, etc) that had units on HIV/AIDS and it was a forgone conclusion within my cohort that HIV had made the jump in the 1930s...one of the sources is from Brazzaville, Congo in 1939 I think.
