So let me get this straight. Buying, peeling, chopping and cooking apples was easier than going out and buying a 2dollar jar of applesauce? On the upside, now I know how to make homemade applesauce to go with my tatertot casserole. I bet the J-slaves were glad for a couple days off, even if they had to have minor sugery in order to get that time off.

Homemade applesauce is good. I make it all the time. I use a tiny bit of apple juice in the bottom of my pot, but you don't need a lot. The apples don't need a lot of liquid. Also, I use a tiny amount of brown sugar instead of honey. I add Cinnamon too. When the apples are soft, you can mash the apples into any size you want. I like to have a few larger pieces in my applesauce

My grandmother used to make it for us all the time. It always felt so comforting to get a nice bowl of hot homemade applesauce. Sometimes my grandmother left the pieces large and called it stewed apples.
