Zimmerman Says It Was God's Plans

It's irrelevant that he followed him and chased him down. That's not the issue at hand. The SYG law means if you are ever faced with a situation where it is your life or theirs, you can protect yourself. He found himself in a situation -- regardless of whether or not it was his own fault there -- where he shot to "defend" himself.

Since you are a law student, you should remember to read statutes before you say what is and is not irrelevant. The Florida statute at issue provides that someone who was the original aggressor--which Zimmerman may or may not be deemed to be--may not rely on the "stand your ground" law as a defense unless he is subjected to deadly force AND he can show:

(a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or

(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

I sincerely hope that you are less cavalier about what the law does and does not say when you're dealing with your future clients than when you are spouting off on the Internet.

Wow, that is messed up! So, theoretically, you could push someone to the point that they are defending themselves, then you can kill them because otherwise they would have killed you?
