Lori Alexander 15: Leaving A Fire With Her Makeup Bag

Lori  (and Dave and Ken and all the other MRAs) seem to think that everyone gets married with the attitude that 'oh well we can always get divorced later'  Yes of course divorce is a fact, but people get married assuming it will be forever. Unfortunately this doesn't always happen.

Most couples I know are sticking out their marriages, even the ones who are in unhappy, miserable, unloving ones.  I know very few divorced couples.

This is a really good point. I know a couple where the husband has had affairs (not ONSs but actual long-standing affairs) with 16 women. They're still married although finally in the process of divorce because the wife just couldn't take any more of his abuse (and that's what it was). The majority of people will go through hell and high water before tossing in the towel because marriage isn't "just" a piece of paper for most of us. It's about building a life together, and you don't give up on that without fighting with everything you have -- therapy, counseling, etc.

Most people I know do have happy, functional relationships, though. And that's because most people marry someone they love and find ways to make it work. Most of us don't have to play silly passive-aggressive "submission" games just to get along.

I can't help but read Lori's blog, even though I said I will give it up for Lent.

Let's try if a personal story will pass as a comment. Ok, it passed, maybe people did not get the "cruel" part.

I am a firm believer that the Alexanders (particularly Lori) are setting up their own religion/laws.

If you don't believe that, ask yourself this: Why does Lori never cite the verse that tells a wife she may separate from an abusive husband?

Hint: There isn't one.

That's a rule she made up.  It keeps women from getting divorced, and it keeps the masses quiet about her "ministry".

Here's the reality:  Last week a woman wrote on Lori's FB wall about her husband, who was mistreating her.  Lori asked her if he worked, and if he had been physically abusive.  She answered that he didn't work, and he had been abusive.

Lori totally ignored her answers.  She never made a single inquiry about the woman's claims of abuse.

Lori has it set up so that she can reference her post about calling the authorities/separating from an abusive husband, when someone calls her out, but when she's faced with individuals, she always tells them that they should stay, suffer, and win him without a word.

Lori and Ken say that you can tell what's important in the Bible by how many times it's mentioned.  Well if we apply that principle to her blog, the message is this:

Stay.  Suffer through abuse.  If you were submitting to him and pleasing him, he would have no reason to abuse you.  His salvation is in your hands.  If he burns in hell, it will be all your fault.

The solidify this position by making sure that working is never permissible, and education and birth control are frowned upon.  No education + no job + 10 kids = let's see her try to leave him now.

It's a vile system, where the woman is set up to fail.

Besides, a few decades of misery down here is a drop in the bucket compared to an eternity in heaven(a sentiment I've seen more than once).

Wife: My husband views porn

Pastor (counselor): Mr. Smith, how long have you been viewing porn?

Husband: Ever since she has been refusing me and being so disrespectful that I would rather not initiate sex with her. What’s your next question?

SEE, its the woman's fault! He has no self-control or agency of his own...

I would add:

Pastor: Husband, the wife is not responsible for your sinful choice to view porn. As you are not responsible for her sinful choice to neglect you. And, Why Husband, were you not the one to seek counseling with her first instead of seeking a prostitute (porn)?

Mr. Smith: Pastor, you are the one that stands in the pulpit every Sunday and tells me what a lousy husband and father I am. That my wife is spiritually stronger and emotionally more mature than I am. That I do not live with her with understanding. That I spend too much time at work (wopping 45 hrs.), not enough time with the kids. I don’t do enough chores for her even though she is SAHM. I don’t volunteer enough for the church.

The last time we counseled with you, you stated that pretty much anything wrong in our marriage is the husbands fault and that is how you perceive it unless circumstance dictates that it isn’t

Whine, whine, blame, blame....

Exactly! And marriages go through ups and downs, couples argue, grow distant, get closer again, have happier and unhappier times together.... If you ask me, that's the kind of marriage worth fighting for.

What Lori "teaches" isn't honest, healthy or good. All this submission talk sounds like some game -as you said-, like they are all trying to out-submit each other, or something. Bonus points for the most submissive wife!

Ahh...yes, the marriage roller coaster ride. Charter member of that club. So many times I wanted to throw in the towel...but, I couldn't imagine life without my husband...but then again, the vows I took said "richer, poorer; sickness, health; good and bad" Yeah, that's kinda like saying..."yup, even when it utterly sucks, we'll battle it out to come out on the other side TOGETHER"

Lori made a funny joke on today's (3/1) post:

Quote

I do love receiving letters from wise women who read my blog because they give a different perspective.

I challenged her on her FB page by asking how the "woman" she featured was any different from her. I added that if she wanted to learn a different perspective then she needed to be open to hearing a different perspective.

I believe I have tested my fate on FB.

There is yet another comment on Facebook about how technology making housework easier has ruined women.

Running water ruined everything, y'al! If only we were still carrying buckets home from the town well...

WTF is wrong with these people?????

Yeah, I don't see any of them giving up their washing machines and taking the laundry and a washboard down to the nearest creek. :my_dodgy:

Just bringing this comment over before it gets zapped without answer from Lori. It's from Lori's post yesterday about Satan preying on vulnerable women:

Quote

I have a few questions regarding your claims that women have just thrown the truth of Scripture out with the dish water, so to say. When you say we need to get back to Titus 2, is that just for women or for the slaves mentioned also? Regarding Ephesians, as a submissive wife with an equally submissive husband (as the scripture calls him to be albeit in maybe a different way), I'm not sure what is wrong with a man encouraging his wife as Christ encouraged the Church?

Regarding the teachings of Jesus (egalitarian Christianity) verses the teachings of Paul and Peter (complimentarianism/patriarchal Christianity), how do the latter teachings somehow Trump the teachings of Jesus himself?

Nothing but crickets thus far from Lori.

And then there is this comment on the same post (bolding mine)

"I was blessed by this today. We have a newly started women's bible study at our church. It is on Saturday morning. I have never attended, because I could never get my heart feeling right about being away from home, without my children (children are not welcome in the class) while my husband was home. I just couldn't see how that would serve my family in any way. After reading this, I feel like I can put into words, what my heart was feeling."

This comment disturbs me on many levels. 1) She doesn't think studying the BIble would be helpful to her family.  2) She doesn't feel right about leaving her children home alone with their father,  3) She never leaves home without her children, 4)  She never leaves home if the husband is home.

#2 is the one that troubles me the most --  why not leave the children for an hour or so with their father?

She doesn't trust him with them?
He refuses to watch his own children for an hour?
He is literally incapable of taking care of the children for an hour?
Child care is women's work and a big strong Provider Man only has to provide -- he is absolved from doing anything related to family or home -- so she would never even dare ask him to watch the children?

I do not and will never understand the fundie obsession with women never leaving the house.

Today's post is yet another complaint about how feminists aren't feminine ...

Meanwhile, this is Lori with her potty mouth talking about flushing femininity down the toilet, people "pooping" on her virtual lawn, women getting into burping contests (who does she hang out with anyway?), etc. She's so delightfully ladylike.

Also, never forget that she had a viral post, y'all!

Is she saying that housework is in women's DNA? or am I misreading this?

Lori (from "Feminists Flushed Femininity Down the Toilet"):

Quote

Men are now required to do a lot of housework which isn’t their natural tendency. God has given women this role. Women will never make better men than men, and men will never make better women than women no matter how hard they try. The DNA we are born with will be the same DNA in our bones a hundred years from now. Feminists are fighting God and nature with what they are doing and it’s ugly.

Cleaning things is a life skill, not a gendered skill. It's called being an adult. What did her sons do after they left the nest but  before they found wives?

From today's fb comments (divorced single mom, high school grad, living on child support):

"Apparently good men want a college educated woman? I'm not so sure about that. I personally do not have "college educated" as part of what I look for in a future husband, so why would he? "

Could someone please explain to me the disdain that LoriKen (both college graduates)  and their fangirls/ fundies in general have for education, particularly college education. I just cannot grasp it.

If no one goes to college who will be the doctors, dentists, surgeons of the future?  Who will wield the cyberknife next time Lori needs it?  Who will find the cure for cancer?

Or should we all still be using leeches and letting people die of easily preventable diseases.  Lori always says the old ways are best,  By her standards She. Would. Be. Dead. Now.

LOL, Lori just told that commenter she needs to try to win her husband back. This will be good to watch.

Looks like she deleted the comments and from that woman on FB just recently. There was some back and forth and now its gone. Lori told the woman (Pauline) she needs to win her husband back and become more godly.

I swear I read this a while back in one of Lori's old blog posts or FB replies.  I don't think I'm hallucinating, although I may have confused Lori with someone else. Anyone else remember this?

Lori was as usual telling the divorced woman to be more godly and work to win her adulterous hubby back, The woman replied that the ex had married his young (child free) girlfriend so no go.

Lori's advice was to pray and work to win him back anyway because he belonged with his family and not the new wife.  So presumably Lori's plan was that the ex would divorce the new wife and return to the old wife.

So it's not OK for the wife to divorce the cheating ass, but it is OK for the cheating ass to divorce the new wife and return to the old wife.

How godly (insert sarcasm here).

And yet, she had this to say on Feb 28 in the comments of her post on divorce and porn addiction:

Quote

Once someone is remarried they must stay with the person that they remarried. It would be wrong for them to divorce that person to go back to their first spouse.

Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
