Moms for "Liberty"

It turns out a Moms for "Liberty" chapter leader in Philadelphia is a registered sex offender.  (Putting the excerpt in a spoiler since it might be triggering to some).

Spoiler

Moms for Liberty is a conservative parental rights group that has chapters all over the United States working to eradicate LGBTQ-related discussion in public schools, at least partially under the belief that educators are using it to “groom” children for sexual relationships. The group might want to look inward first. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Monday that Phillip Fisher Jr. — a pastor, Republican ward leader, and faith coordinator for Moms for Liberty in Philadelphia — is a registered sex offender.

Fisher was convicted in 2012 for aggravated sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy, with the charging documents saying that Fisher, then 25, engaged and oral and anal sex with the boy. Fisher, who pleaded guilty, told the Inquirer that the conviction was a “railroad job” by a PAC affiliated with Lyndon LaRouche, the cult-y former presidential candidate whose organization Fisher worked for at the time.

Fisher was the leader of Philadelphia’s 42nd Ward until he resigned on Friday after Vince Fenerty, chair of Philadelphia’s Republican City Committee, demanded he do so after being informed of his criminal history. The Inquirer notes that Fisher supported Trump in 2020 and campaigned with Mehmet Oz in 2022. While protesting outside of Chicago town hall meeting in 2009, Fisher held up a poster of then-President Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache.

Fisher did faith-based outreach for Philadelphia’s Moms for Liberty chapter. The organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Rolling Stone on Monday.

Yeah, they might wanna do some serious mirror looking in if they're going to accuse others of grooming children.

And here's the Sarasota County GQP's response to these allegations;

Quote

The Republican Party of Sarasota County, where the Zieglers have been active for years, issued a statement saying the party is "shocked and disappointed" by the reports.

"The Republican Party takes all such allegations of potential criminal conduct very seriously and will fully cooperate with investigators."

No, they won't.  I used to live there and the Republicans own the county and have for years.  They won't cooperate.  They'll misdirect and stonewall.

Moms For Hitler's Liberty are facing some push back

Quote

Jenkins believes the challenges are mounting for Moms for Liberty. “More and more people are voting against them,” she said. “Perception is power, and right now, they look weak.”

Before next Tuesday’s Brevard school board meeting, students, parents and teachers plan what organizers are calling “a rally against academic censorship.”

Students will speak out against removing books from schools, some banned titles will be distributed, and new voters will be registered to send a message to “Brevard’s rogue school board,” according to organizers.

“The longer that Moms for Liberty has been on the scene, the more we’ve seen local communities organize against them,” Schneider said. “Organized opponents often include coalitions of families, educators, and even students themselves – folks who are well positioned to counter baseless accusations, and who are themselves often quite compelling as voices for less politicized school governance.”

As always, when the Republicans accuse someone of a crime, they're actually telling on themselves.
