NEW YORK (AP) — Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who popularized beach bum soft rock with the escapist Caribbean-flavored song “Margaritaville” and turned that celebration of loafing into an empire of restaurants, resorts and frozen concoctions, has died. He was 76.

I did this group thing when I was a teenager. A bunch of them grew up together, while the rest of us were new to the group. We all kind of gelled one night while sitting around, belting out our rendition of Margaritaville. Jimmy Buffett, bringing people together!

My husband's, too. Many a road trip over the years has been spent with Jimmy Buffet spinning in the CD player. Rest in peace, Jimmy. 😢

I used to listen to his music quite a bit in the car.  My late coworker really liked him.  Rest in peace Jimmy.
