Why does this not surprise me?

“His wife told my niece they should be honored to serve him”- so much disgustingly wrong and gross in that sentence. He is elected to serve her and her fellow server. His wife needs a big lesson in humility. Someone put this out on billboards and campaign literature next to quotes from Assbot about “fighting for working families”. What a cruel thing to do.

"Offending MAGA Fascists"

Quote

President Joe Biden gave an accurate description of Trump supporters within the Republican Party, and many people aren’t happy with it.

Speaking at a fundraiser for Democrats, the president said, “It’s not just Trump. It’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something: It’s like semi-fascism.” He expanded on this at another rally saying, “The MAGA Republicans are a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace — embrace — political violence.”

In a column for The Washington Post titled, “No, MAGA Republicans do not support ‘semi-fascism,” Henry Olsen makes excuses for and defends MAGA fascists. It takes him a while to get to the January 6 Trump coup attempt, but he writes that it “does not justify Biden’s use of the inflammatory label ‘semi-fascism.’” Uh, yes it does.

The attempt to overturn an election, overthrow the government, violate a procedure mandated by the United States Constitution which is the certification of the Electoral College, trying to install an unelected dictator into the White House, and continuing to claim the loser won, is fascist.

Donald Trump called election officials in several states he lost in attempts to get them to reverse the outcome. He literally threatened Georgia’s secretary of state to find him votes. This is some deep-seated Mussolini shit.

And guess what. It didn’t stop there. The Republican Party in multiple states changed election laws making it harder for minorities to vote, thus making it harder to elect the opposing party, the Democratic Party. Republicans in several states have legalized voter intimidation.

In Florida, Ron DeSantis, who is a MAGA Republican, is inserting his own brand of fascism where he’s removing elected Democrats from office and replacing them with Republicans. He’s devoted himself to book banning, voter intimidation, and ruling on what schools can and can not teach. He’s made homophobia a large part of his platform. His favorite word is “woke” and is literally trying to outlaw “wokeism” in Florida.

In another column for The Post headlined “Biden just used the F-word, and he’s correct,” Dana Milbank writes, “Good for him. Those who cherish democracy need to call out the proto-fascist tendencies now seizing the Trump-occupied GOP.”

Milbank points out, “Republican candidates up and down the November ballot reject the legitimate outcome of the last election — and are making it easier to reject the will of the voters in the next. Violent anti-government rhetoric from party leaders targets the FBI, the Justice Department, and the IRS. A systemic campaign of disinformation makes their supporters feel victimized by shadowy “elites. These are hallmarks of authoritarianism.”

A new NBC poll found that a majority of voters cite “threats to democracy” as their top concern approaching the midterms. They’re right for this to be their top concern. We’re all concerned about the economy, inflation, climate change, gun violence, and immigration, but we won’t be able to appropriately deal with those issues if we lose our democracy.

Election deniers are winning GOP primaries in multiple states, which is ironic in itself. If they become governors and secretaries of state, they may throw out elections, the will of the people, if they don’t like the outcome.

Fascists rarely admit they’re fascists. Several candidates ran against Vladimir Putin in 2018, but only one was serious, Alexei Navalny (imagine if the only candidates allowed to run against Trump were Jill Stein and the guy who didn’t know what Allepo was). Navalny was barred from running based on some murky charges of embezzlement. Many of his supporters were arrested and given jail sentences that lasted through the election season. Putin won with nearly 80 percent of the vote. Several precincts had more votes than voters and it’s estimated that Putin received an additional 10 million votes than he actually received. Despite being discouraged by his staff not to do so, Donald Trump called Putin and congratulated him on his “victory.”

In 2020, Navalny was poisoned and then sentenced to over 11 years in prison. But, they never use the word “fascism.”

In the United States, Republicans are encouraging violence against those who oppose Trump. There were death threats against Dr. Anthony Fauci that were inspired by GOP hate and conspiracy theories against him. There have been threats against the Justice Department and the FBI. There was an attempted attack on an FBI field office after the search of Mar-a-Lago. This is fascism.

During a presidential debate, Donald Trump told a hate group supporting him to “stand back and stand by.” After losing the election, he tweeted for his hate groups to come to Washington on the day of the certification of the Electoral College telling them it was going to be “wild.” This is fascism. The people who arrived in D.C. for a “wild” time are fascists.

Olsen argues that nationalism isn’t necessarily fascism…but this is. I expect MAGA Republicans to start goose-stepping any day now. Some have been heiling Trump since 2015.

Milbank sums up his column with, “This is where the MAGA Republicans are taking us. It’s past time to call it what it is.”

He’s right. The only quibble I have with President Biden calling MAGA Republicans “semi-fascists” is the word “semi.” They’re fully-fledged fascists. Let’s start calling them MAGA fascists.

"MTG PPP"

Quote

It’s completely unfair,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. “Taxpayers that never took out a student loan, taxpayers that pay their bills and maybe never went to college and are just hard-working people, they shouldn’t have to pay off the great big student loan debt for some college student.”

But is it fair that Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in Paycheck Protection Program loans forgiven, which were given out by the U.S. Small Business Administration during the COVID-19 pandemic? I’m not good at math, but I’m pretty sure $10,000, and even $20,000, is less than $183,504.

Rep. Mike Kelly said, “Asking plumbers and carpenters to pay off the loans of Wall Street advisors and lawyers isn’t just unfair. It’s also bad policy.” Yeah, that guy got $987,237 in PPP loans forgiven. By the way, if the plumber or carpenter got a government loan to go to trade school, he probably qualifies to have it forgiven.

The Center for American Progress provided a long list of other Republican House members who received PPP loan forgiveness which includes:
Marjorie Taylor Greene: $183,504
Matt Gaetz: $482,321
Greg Pence: $79.441
Vern Buchanan: $2.8 million
Kevin Hern: $1,070.000
Brett Guthrie: $4.3 million
Ralph Norman: $306,520
Ralph Abraham: $38,000
Mike Kelly: $974,100
Vicki Hartzler: $451,200
Markwayne Mullin: $988,700
Carol Miller: $3.1 million

Asking about the White House’s tweet revealing that some GOP House members received PPP loans, Sebastian Gorka, a goon who formerly worked in the Trump White House, tweeted the question: How is this not a Hatch Act violation?

The Hatch Act prohibits most White House and cabinet officials from using federal resources, including official appearances or social media pages, to campaign for a candidate or party, or to bash an opponent. For example, using the White House to host the 2020 Republican National Convention is a Hatch Act violation.

Some have defended the PPP forgiveness stating that the loans were used as intended in each case. Well, so were the college loans. But no matter how you justify one over the other, they’re both coming from taxpayers. These GOP goons got free taxpayer money.

Mullin replied to the White House’s revelation of who received PPP loans, tweeting, “Another ignorant attack from a career politician who has never created a single job. 74 days before midterms, Joe Biden is targeting business owners for protecting their employees from government lockdowns. President Trump always supported American workers and job creators.”

Actually, during the Biden presidency, so far, over nine million jobs have been created. When Donald Trump left the White House, there were three million fewer jobs than when he entered in January 2017, the day he gave the “American Carnage” speech.

Biden didn’t state he was against the PPP loan forgiveness, but Republicans can’t comprehend and they’re liars. Biden’s White House was just stating the obvious. We could say, “Hey, good for you on getting your PPP loan forgiven…now shaddup, goons”

Republicans act like those who are having some of their loans forgiven are snail-eating elitists. You can smell the condescension in MTG’s statement that “hard-working” people shouldn’t pay off a “great big student loan debt for some college student.”

She was a college student too and most of those receiving these loans are no longer students, but are in fact…wait for it…hard-working people.

Do you see where they are drawing the battle lines? They’re drawing them between the educated and the uneducated because the uneducated vote for Republicans. Of course, all those elected Republicans are educated people too, but they apparently went to schools that don’t teach irony.

"Coyote Ugly"

Quote

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is busing migrants to New York City and Washington, D.C. These migrants entered the United States through the Texas border with Mexico. Greg Abbott is blaming President Joe Biden for “open borders” despite the fact that until recently, Biden’s border policy was the same as Donald Trump’s.

Abbott has sent over 9,000 migrants to New York City and Washington, DC since “Operation Lone Star” began. He said in an August 19 press release, “Busing migrants out of Texas is a way to provide much-needed relief to our overwhelmed border communities.”

And that press release was the only warning the sanctuary cities received, proving this isn’t about humanitarian relief or providing relief to Texas’ border communities. This is a political stunt for Abbott and he’s using human beings running for their lives as political props. While the migrants will certainly do better under NYC Mayor Eric Adams than under Greg Abbott, the use of refugees as pawns should be cited as a human rights violation.

Imagine you wanted to build your reputation through a political stunt, such as kicking puppies and stealing candy from babies. Who in the world would you be trying to appeal to with those horrible actions? Assholes. You’d be seeking the love and approval of assholes. This is exactly what Abbott is doing. He’s appealing to goons. How do you get assholes to like you? By becoming an asshole.

This is just how low the Republican Party has devolved. Republicans love this stunt by Abbott. It has several things they hate. Abbott blames Biden, so there’s one box checked. He’s getting rid of brown immigrants which checks another box. And, he’s sending them to liberal cities in the north. Check, checkity, checkity, check. The only way he could make a stronger appeal to the asshole demographic would be to bus woke vegetarian school teachers along with the cast of “A League of Their Own,” the TV series (it’s full of lesbians).

Another huge sign this is a stunt is the name, “Operation Lone Star,” which was chosen because “Operation Check out my Big Texas Penis” might have been slightly over the top and I believe “Operation Yee-Haw” has been used by now.

Another sign this is more of an asshole move than one of humanitarian relief is the fact Abbot didn’t give NYC or DC any warnings. Of course, not letting the liberal cities know thousands of migrants were coming until they arrived is another way to appeal to the asshole base. It’s really owning the libs, at the expense of migrants of course.

Sure, we all have a good time springing our kids on their grandparents now and then, especially after giving the toddlers Red Bulls, but you wouldn’t leave them there if grandma was going to eat them (my grandparents were worse. They made me watch Lawrence Welk). Here, Texas does not care about these migrants. They’re pawns to own the libs.

New York City and Washington, D.C. aren’t mad at the arrival of migrants because of who they are. They’re annoyed at the burden Texas is throwing on them. NYC and DC are already diverse places and they’ll be fine. Most of these migrants are amazing people, the kind of people you want in your neighborhood. Our diversity is our nation’s greatest strength which is something Republicans don’t understand.

But it’s still a dick move. Probably because Greg Abbott, like most Republican governors, is a dick.
