I’m always so surprised how Pricilla gets dressed up and looks so great after like RIGHT after birth. I’m happy they are both healthy and stuff…

I think she actually delivers in her denim shirt! And she's so immaculate that she doesn't even bleed.

They look great and healthy, that's what matters! But my BEC comment today is that it grates my nerves when dad holds the baby in the announcement pictures. It is mom who did the job! A hard job! Let her be the star!

Gosh they are an impressively put together family!  Priscilla and David are even matching in the announcement pictures, I hope that's nice soft denim in that skirt, it can be such a stiff and unforgiving fabric!

I've looked them up on Instagram as I'm branching out a bit on FJ ( I'm stuck at home with hip/back pain and it's keeping me entertained😄)  They just seem really nice to me, and treat their children as individuals, is there a particular reason they're being snarked on?

You can take a trip down the Pecan rabbit hole here:

https://www.freejinger.org/forum/429-waller-family/

Others will pipe in, but some of the snark comes from:

  • David was a long term IBLP employee.
  • Their awkward arranged courtship.
  • The wedding. David conducting from the altar.
  • The pecan thievery...excuse me, "gleaning"
  • The fact that they look like twins. Someone did a face swap on them and most people couldn't tell any difference.
  • Blooming Onion dates seem to lead to babies.
  • Oh, David waterskiing in a business suit.
  • The poor dump truck baby pictures.

That being said, at least they seem to actually love their children, who appear well-fed, unlike the Rodriguii. It's sad that the children had to be born into a cult.

The conducting starts at about 26:45

They are pronouncing it Deb-rah Jooooooyyyy. The video is basically them saying they're grateful baby came quickly, they're blessed that their other children are excited for a new sister and loving/considerate to the parents, some Bible quotes thrown in.

I'm always struck by how creepy the Pecans are but also by how they both seem to genuinely enjoy their lives/roles and children. They definitely were an arranged marriage (who can forget Pecan's depressing forced-into-marriage story?), but it seems to have worked out quite well for them.

That denim skirt can't possibly be comfortable.  Why not a soft cotton skirt????

It makes me want to buy her a cute and comfy house dress and robe to wear after she gives birth. Denim skirts aren’t that comfortable. Especially right after having a baby.

Didn't see your post before I posted a similar comment.

I’m surprised they went so traditional with the name. Now I’m thinking if they have another girl, she could be Dorothy. I’m completely fine with the name Deborah. There are very few her age. She won’t be lost in a sea of Deborahs. I’m sure they will call her Debbie when small.

The latest Nathan Maxwell Family child is Deborah, can’t recall second name.

A friend my age has very young granddaughters named Hazel and Vivian.  The Home Town couple have Helen. Old-timey, classic (?) Names that fall flat for me, but lotta folks like ‘em.

I do notice that my grandma Bertha’s name hadn’t made a comeback  my grandma Eva’s name? That one, I like. Mileages vary and please forgive me if you or folks you love used any of the names I shrug off.  I’m just chitterin’ ….

Deborah is such a lovely name, hopefully it will become popular again. Would be refreshing to hear more little Deborahs! I actually really like that name.

I love the choice of Deborah! I'm not sure any other family in existence has a Davia, Destiny, and Deborah. But hey, the names are easy to read and different from each other. Deborah in the Bible was a judge (ruler), prophetess, and military leader. I'm very glad they didn't avoid using Deborah because she defies their gender rules.

Priscilla is my pet fundie. Her parents did her dirty, but not as dirty as their other daughters. I also worry about the quality of homeschooling. I hope the Wallers take advantage of a cooperative schooling option, but I doubt it. I find David very annoying in addition to his reprehensible beliefs. But I do have sympathy for his family and all the loss they've experienced.

The pink, coral, peach, light green grandpa shirts were a real trend! My grandpa wore them in summer all the time. But it didn't mean they fought gender roles at all. Basically (at least in my town), it was what elder men or their wives found fashionable. Plain pastel shirts in a daily basis, white shirts for weddings, dark shirts forbidden.

This reminds me!  I’ve known more than one pastor to have clerical shirts - worn with the high collar - in various pastel shades, pink included. Why not?

I guess David was saving his pink shirt for the birth.

Deborah is so normal and nice, I'm honestly surprised they used it.

I couldn't resist looking up the dump truck baby. This is child #3, Phillip:

Poor uncomfortable baby. Now as a child, he makes great faces, like his sisters Davia and Destiny.

Yeah, my too. Their boy names are straightforward and classic. Their girl names are all over the place.

Just piping in to gloat. I guessed the name! Woo hoo! Baby's cute and I'm glad that they are well but I'm grateful my lot in life is not to birth a baby at home every other year and to immediately get dressed to post a YouTube video introducing my latest blessing in matching outfits.

@MamaJunebug Deborah Maxwell's middle name is Carol.

Deborah is certainly quite 'normal' and traditional compared to Davia and Destiny.

Maybe they really like “out there” type names for girls but they feel limited with “D.” So from now on they will be more traditional D names because they can’t come up with anymore unique ones starting with D. Dorothy, Diana, etc.

They do seem to enjoy being parents, but I hope they slow down, waaaaaay down, wait three or four years, get some kids out of diapers, let the youngest kids get some mom and dad time, let Mrs. Pecan's lady parts recover and giver her a breather.

In other threads, it's been mentioned that some moms of mega families with an annual pregnancy had a mini breakdown at around 7 kids, when all the kids were too young to be sister or brother moms and it was all on her.

I say sister or brother moms because there do seem to be a few mega families where the gender divide isn't quite so strong and all the kids have age appropriate household chores that aren't rigidly gender specific.

here is the thing I find interesting: David and Priscilla have managed to have an equal number of boys and girls who were born in an alternating sequence of Boy, Girl. I'm not sure of the timing between children but my impression is that it followed a regular pattern too. Organization level: 1000 😀

edited to add: I mixed up the order of the children's birth so this is wrong

my organization level: minus 1000

edit #2: I just realized I read the dates wrong on the post listing the wedding date and dates of the children's birth. I am a fool. In my defence I am also caught up in a thread on my local neighbourhood email chain. There is all sorts of drama involving stolen parking spots and snow shovelling. Right now racists rants are being flung around and people are flouncing in a dramatic way. This plus the Bates todo means I really should have a nice cup of tea and settle down. LOL

I like seeing David holding the baby and looking happy. I hope it points towards him being an involved, hands-on dad.

I had a maternity denim skirt that had a super soft tummy expansion panel. It was my favorite maternity skirt and I wore it for the first few weeks postpartum  as my body was healing. I had worn (and washed) it so much it was super soft and comfortable. I really loved it because it had useable pockets and almost all of my maternity clothes were bereft of pockets.

Pricilla always looks genuinely happy to be with her friends and she is one of the few Fundies who I would be trust to not abuse her children. That said, I think that she is probably even more suppressed than many other women and she is someone that I would see as being high risk to be emotionally abused in relationships (family, church members etc) because I’m not sure that she is able to stand up for herself.

If you enjoy fundie style, might I recommend the wtf-ery that is Chelsea Pomeroy?

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
