Yup. I had an extremely mis-spent youth: I learned what Yiddish slang I know from old Lenny Bruce routines. And the word meeskeit was the title of a song (missing from the movie) in the original Broadway production of Cabaret.

The suffix "keit" is, basically "one who fits that description."
