But my most unhealthy vice is diet soda and so aside from that I think I’ll survive haha

My mom once warned me about "aspartame poisoning"(from a friend of a friend), and after looking it up online, I assured her it wasn't true, though I had to weed through a bunch of woo sites to find scientifically-based proof.  If it were a thing, I'd have been stone cold dead years ago. :pb_lol:

My aunt, who is as dumb as a plank, has MS and she refused to believe that she had MS.  She believed it was caused by nutria sweet.  Keep in mind, she was diagnosed with MS and refused to start treatment because it was not really MS.  For nearly 6 years she kept insisting she was getting better (she wasn't) and finally started on the meds.  (which are bloody expensive).  She went into remission about a year ago and decided that the woo therapy she read about on the internet was good enough, stopping her medical treatment.  She got fired by her doctor.   She's lucky, she's still in remission but they told her it wouldn't last long and her disease could be much more aggressive this time around. But to her, those essential oils, special diet and special water are all she needs to cure her ms.  (yes, she means cure, reverse the damage already caused.  Did I mention she is stupid?

I'll be at the ER getting my sprained eyes checked.  I rolled my eyes so hard they actually hurt.  Her ideas on what cause cancer are....interesting (and by interesting I mean she's a whackadoodle of major proportions)

I'm pretty sure if nail polish/remover were a carcinogen that  it would have big warnings on it by now like cigarettes do and they wouldn't train people to go into careers that promote it's use.

Does she even think for once second before she posts this WTFery?  Don't answer, it was rhetorical.

I had to laugh: My sister had to see an eye specialists because they were afraid she had developed a retinal detachment.  She had joked that she sprained her eyes from rolling them too much listening to morons (my sister and I are ultra-sensitive to idiots and morons).  He assured her that no, you can't sprain your eyes.  (Fortunately, she did NOT have a retinal detachment but they did discover she has high blood pressure).

A mum in the chatroom posted about her child who had a sore throat which she treated herself for a day and then took to doctor who diagnosed strep throat.  She posted about a woman who was jailed for not taking her child to a doctor for antibiotics for their strep throat infection.  Lori's reaction antibiotics are evil and more people die from antibiotics than strep throat.  At least some put her straight on this but this lady is not for turning to borrow a Phrase

Sometimes, strep throat will clear up on it's own.  Sometimes, people are just carriers (I am, which sucks because if my throat is sore, it always comes up positive) and sometimes people (especially children and immunosuppresed persons) can develop complications.  Like Rheumatic fever, glomerulonephritis, ear infection, pneumonia.  And sometimes, the effects of the secondary infections don't show up for many years.  Valve damage to the heart is a helluva lost worse than some mild side effects from antibiotic use.  Lori is a moron.

Well, that's good to know ;)   I'm sorry to hear about your sister having high blood pressure :(

Here is what I really don't get about Lori.  It should be obvious to her that "eating healthy" isn't some kind of magic bullet against disease.  She claims her mom always cooked organic and she was raised as a "health nut."   She spends an outrageous amount of money on organic food.  YET, her mom has cancer and she has a brain tumor among other various and sundry conditions.   Obviously, eating healthy is not the end all be all of health.

Further, she does stupid stuff like refusing to use sunscreen because the woo woo sites she reads have convinced her that sunscreen causes cancer when it's quite well established that too much time in the sun without protection is what causes cancer.

It's like she is the woman the bible talks about when it says women are easily deceived.  She hasn't met a woo theory she doesn't grab onto.

I recall her saying that her mother had some kind of health issue that led the mother to becoming a health nut and shopping at specialized health foods stores. Lori also posted about her mother exercises daily and was healthier than people the same age. That post was years back. I think the mother's previous health issue was a digestive one.

ZsuZsu is another blogger who pushes organic food as a magic bullet. She did a series of postings where she claimed that eating organic food was the reason why they were healthy. She even said that they didn't have health insurance back then because of organic food. FJers also pointed to blog posts where she said that her kids were often sick with colds and Isaac suffers from asthma. Those blog posts were before Zsu's complicated twin pregnancy. Organic food hasn't been a complete magic bullet for the Andersons. Zsu has posted other crazy shit regarding medicine and healthcare. But, I think Lori has overtaken Zsu on the crazy meter.

I totally agree.  Lori wanted to jump the gun before anyone else brought up the fact that her mother has cancer but has eaten a healthy diet for much of her life.  This blows her theories about healthy eating sky high so she searched the internet until she found something else that "caused" the cancer...nail polish.

I am going to start a blog that I am a natural healer who only works from home.  I'll see how long Lori finds me and posts my cure for plantar fasciitis using only space waves.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

And Lori, I'm assigning you some homework, okay? I encourage to read the stories of both Josephs (in the old and new) because they both had dreams, read Acts 2:17 and Daniel 7 to begin with. For emotions, Psalm 88, John 11:35, Matthew 26: 36-46 are some places to begin

Ask and you shall receive. In today's Thanksgiving post she specifically mentions Joseph. It's like having a conversation through a wall with her.

"If you think you’ve been treated unfairly or poorly, look at Joseph and model yourself after him."

I love that Lori takes the time on this special holiday to throw some shade at Ken. I wonder if he's been a bad boy.

" Love doesn’t envy (“Oh, I wish my husband was like her husband!”)."

"God calls you to love your family, yes, even your rebellious and disobedient family members and/or husband."

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

Strep throat story. I former coworker had it, didn't get it treated because of insurance issues. She ended up with a brain infection and she went loo-lou for a couple years because of the damage. Antibiotics are a good thing and they would have helped her.

Awe, yeah. It was ulcerative colitis! Another thing filed away in my brain, no doubt taking up the space where my eight times tables should be.

My mom always fed us a lot of fruits and vegetables way before it was in style. She drove 1/2 hour each way to an organic store to get cases of apples, oranges, and vegetables. She knew the power of raw foods way back then. It cured her of her colitis which  doctors still say there is no cure. Drugs and surgery can't cure colitis, but raw foods can cure it.

I wonder if they spent the holiday with family.  Thanksgiving with Lori seems like it would be very stressful.  Around here, people pile their plates high and go back for seconds...and leftovers.  And pie.  Can you imagine the judgement that would bring from Lori?

I can see them going around the table, saying what they're thankful for.  Lori's would go something like this:

"I am grateful that the Holy Spirit works mightily in me, so that I don't make a glutton of myself with all of this non-organic food you've all brought.  I am also thankful that the ladies in the chat-room all signed a pledge to only eat their portion this Thanksgiving!  And for going VIRAL!  Did you know I went VIRAL, Aunt So and So?  Well, I did.  I went VIRAL!  Please pass the salad."

Lori is going after (yet another) woman in the ministry.  This time, Beth Moore.  In her Instagram, Lori is criticizing something Beth wrote on Twitter.

A reader replies:

Quote

She deleted it about an hr later and posted saying she was wrong and apologized.

Lori's gracious response:

Quote

there’s a lot more wrong with her than just this tweet and the only reason she most likely deleted it was because of the rebuking she got from it. I encourage women to NOT learn from her.

Makes it kind of ridiculous that her post yesterday was about showering grace and forgiveness upon others.  Right.

Another reader responds:

Quote

If Beth Moore is a sister in Christ, even if we don't agree with her, I think we should be kind in our remarks about her even while warning of her missteps. I feel this conversation has a little bit of harshness to it.

Kindness?  Lori KNOWS why she apologized!  She (Lori) is a prophet (a speaker of TRUTH!).  She could read Beth's mind, and she is 100% certain that she only apologized because of the "rebuking" she got.  No room for forgiveness, grace, or kindness.  Lori has spoken, and she encourages you NOT to learn from her! TRUTH!

It's 10:15 and today's screed has yet to be posted. :pb_eek: Do you think she got up super early and went out Black Friday shopping? Maybe her favourite organic grocery store is having a killer sale today!

Question in chatroom

"How  many of you disciplined your body by making it your slave and only eating your 'portion' yesterday.  (Is this a mean question:my_smile:) "

Cue teachers pets who got gold stars but some just might find themselves in detention writing lines. " I must only eat my portion and not overindulge"

I wonder how many times she had to point out to family that she was only eating her portion.  I bet she fumed every time they went back for seconds!

Well, "godly" mentors don't apologize. When they get rebuked, they delete and pretend the conversation/post never happened. "Godly" mentors are not wrong. If someone admits they are wrong, clearly they are not a godly mentor like Lori and are to be avoided.

Beth Moore speaks loudly against sexual abuse and shows that she respects women. It's no wonder Lori doesn't like her.

And, she shows that she's a regular person who every once in a while will eat crappy food and watch mindless TV just for the hell of it. Lori is tsk tsking away.

Well, Lori; if you have to ask, then it is probably a mean question. But you knew that; didn't you?  You deliberately asked an accusatory question so you could shame the women who were honest enough to say they actually enjoyed their meal.

Was that a mean thing to write?

This sums up my thoughts with respect to Lori's Thanksgiving. She'd never post it, because it's a Bible verse not found in Titus 2.

Quote

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

How bad has it got to be for her, that she can't put her bizarre food obsessions aside long enough to enjoy one holiday?

With most things, she imposes rules on others that she would never dream of imposing on herself.  This stuff, though- she seems to dwell on it every waking second.  Fundies would say she makes an idol of it, but to me it seems almost like a sickness.

I am seeing her recent post and Instagram about showing grace and forgiveness for family, and smiling whether you feel like it or not, in a completely different light.

I honestly wonder if she is trying to forgive them for eating more than their portion / non-organic / seconds.  She has posted about being bothered by how much guests were eating and drinking...imagine her watching an entire family eat, on a holiday that pretty much revolves around food.

That could explain why she retreated to the chat room, hoping to regain control.  At least there, people are likely to do what she wants in order to gain her approval.

*Side Note* - Remember her split w/ April (Peaceful Wife)?  Turns out that she wrote a book that came out about 8 months before Lori's.  It has 4.5 out of 5 stars.  Lori's got a mere 2.5 stars (I wonder if jealousy over that, combined with April's readers taking Lori to task, is what caused the rift between them.

I would gladly sit next to Lori. I would also make sure not to eat anything till dinner so I could really shovel it in. I'd make a giant plate piled high and pour tons of gravy over the whole mess. Then I would constantly talk to her with my mouth full during the entire meal all the while being gracious in every other way.

People with ridiculous standards like hers make me want to challenge them.

**Side note 2** When did she add this bit to her Amazon about the author?

Quote

Please read the discussion forum on her author's page to find out why she has received so many negative reviews of her book with only 1 star. She has never taught that any form of abuse is acceptable and she never will. There are many who would love to destroy the works of all those who speak the Truth of God's Word. We are warned of this in the Bible. Jesus is fighting our battles, thankfully, so we rest under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1).

Wow...she honestly doesn't believe it's possible that her book deserved anything less than a 5 star review...whether you've read it or not.  :pb_eek:

I can't believe Lori leads with the calorie count for Thanksgiving! Her eating and control issues are incredibly, clinically disordered. She has some readers who do not need to hear her message of restrict at all costs. This is the exchange between two women, one of whom I worry terribly about. Notice not one peep of concern from ole Lorbags:

Poor reader: I am working HARD at this. My husband is here, and he always is on me to not eat. It was 3:00 in the afternoon and he saw me eating a couple bites and told me to stop. I did but I hadn’t eaten at all yet. I had one small plate, no dessert. A year ago I restricted hard and felt great and my husband loved it. I fell off the wagon and it’s been hard restricting again. Thank you for the reminder that I must learn to control what goes in my mouth.

second reader: If you hadn't eaten yet why would your hubby tell you to stop?

Also, I eat between 1500 and 1800 calories a day and have lost 16 pounds and maintain. It's all about what you eat and sometimes...not how much :)

Original poor reader: he didn’t know I hadn’t eaten but he likes me to eat between 500-700 calories a day. I used to do that and I felt much better than I do now. My back pain was gone, my high blood pressure was gone, I weighed less and felt so much better. I had to get into that mindset though. He always has monitored my food intake and will tell me to stop. Sometimes he makes me hand him my plate and will throw it away.

second reader: As a female, your heart needs way more than 500 to 700 calories to function properly. Hearing things like this just worries me. Sorry to give unsolicited advice. Not trying to be a jerk :)

That’s absolutely terrifying to read. And quite honestly, I think Lori bears some moral responsibility for any negative health outcomes that poor woman experiences. That’s not nearly enough calories. And the impact experienced by any children in that environment.
