Christian Group Admits To Sending Men Into Women’s Bathrooms To Scare You Into Hating Trans People

I wonder if this is going to lead to Christian zealots getting sexual assault charges for forcing someone to prove their gender. I work with a very masculine woman who I thought was transgender for a while but she was just a big burly woman.

Its ridiculous. Womens rooms have toilets with stalls for personal privacy and mens rooms do too. What's the big deal?

How far is this going to escalate? If they don't get the response they want by sending men into women's restrooms, are there going to be attacks to show "how dangerous" it is? The AFA is far more frightening than any transgendered person I've ever met.

One of my former soldiers has already been dealing with this.  She's very short, very slim, and could be described as "boyish" (body type, short short haircut).  IMO she doesn't look or dress "butch".  But she's already been getting the "are you sure you're in the right room?" BS.

Harnam Kaur is a woman who has a full on beard! She has PCOS and was tired of the stigma of being a woman and having a beard, so she converted to Sikhism and now she wears her beard in all of its glory [emoji5]

Hey, I can dig, @Alicja. Heard a story on the Internet (so, of course, it is Weal and Twoo0!) about a Sikh woman who was rather plagued by facial hair, but held on, because shaving is not quite nice. (And that comment is made from relative ignorance, not malice.)

Nonetheless, I'm still gonna shave: HATE prickles, whether on me or on a partner.

Anti-LGBT activists appear to be filming themselves terrorizing Target stores while yelling at the store and its customers to “repent” — in one case leading to 911 calls about an active shooter.

In one particularly scary incident in Bradley, Illinois, on Monday, police say they were called about an active shooter situation after a 39-year-old man created a disturbance inside a Target store.

 

Responding officers found no firearm, but did arrest Michael Merichko for disorderly conduct, they said.

And, yeah, I think that shopper summed it up pretty well.

I can see why such a thing might be reported to the police as a possible "active shooter" -- the security guy on the phone said something about "scaring the customers". He sounded hateful and angry -- not at all like he was concerned for the souls of the people he was talking to. Just angry, judgmental, and filled with hate. I thought his bible said, "Vengeance is Mine, sayeth the Lord" (implying "not yours", I think? but I could be wrong) and "Judge not, lest ye be judged."

Maybe his version leaves out those parts.

From what I can gather he claims that "Target's bathroom policies have invoked the wrath of Almighty God. I self identify as the new Target CEO, and every single one of you employees has been fired. You are officially terminated for this perversion of bringing children into a store that opens it's bathrooms to paedophiles and sexual predators. Shame on you America, and shame on you parents for..."

Don't hate me, but I see both sides.

 I'm not afraid of transgender people, and I'm not really sure why this is a huge concern all of a sudden.  Are transgender people just now having the need to pee?  Seriously, which bathrooms have they been using before now?  I would think most have already been using the bathroom they wish to use and are dressed and can pass for their preferred gender without anyone knowing.   I don't go inspecting private parts. I go in the stall and do my business.

On the other hand, I see the concern that true pervs might take advantage of the opportunity.  I admit I would not be comfortable with a man going in the bathroom behind my 12 year old daughter, but if someone is going to attack you, a "men" or "women" sign on the door won't stop them anyway.

Well, that is the point. "True" pervs don't need an opportunity to take advantage of, other than a public bathroom in a place where no other people are around. I mean, if the laws were attempting to keep registered sex offenders out of public bathrooms, the argument might actually make sense.

Anyone can go into any bathroom. It's not like there are bathroom police. If someone wants to commit a sexual crime, they are likely to do so in the absence of witnesses, so their gender identity presentation is probably not going to be a factor.

Plus, when men wear female clothes as a joke or for some kind of scheme they tend to do it very sloppily. If a man in a dress and ill-fitting wig goes into a bathroom, it will be quite obvious who he is and what his intentions are. Such a man will be easily noticed and caught by the police. Trying to look like a convincing woman to enter a womens bathroom is frankly more work than the average perv wants to do, which is why this never happens. True trans women do their best to fit in and be unobtrusive.

The other day, I fell asleep with my apartment door unlocked. I told my boyfriend and he said, "You're probably about as safe thay way, the biggest thing protecting you is that most people won't try a closed door."

The biggest thing protecting any of us has always been societal norms. In bathrooms, this has almost always been the case. Door signs, in many places are considered by the law to be "strong guidelines" --- because it would be insane to check everybody and sometimes when you have to pee you just gotta. 

Loitering laws are probably the biggest protection if somebody tries to use this guise to sneak in for bad reasons. If you aren't pissing, gtfo. It's a bathroom not a lounge.

@Free Jana Duggar, this is only a big issue now because the Xian conservative asshats on the far right have decided that they are going to attack trans people now.  As has been stated by many FJites before me, trans people have been around since time immemorial.  Many Native American tribes honored the person with two-spirits.
