I suppose in a weird way, the war toys make sense. They are preparing their sons for a lifetime of PLAYING war and going on faux adventures because they are too emotionally and spiritually fragile for the real deal.

Re: The Phillips kids' names. Joshua is clearly a boy's name. Justice can go either way. But the others, IMO, sound like girls' names. If you want to give your son a manly man name, why not just go with an old Biblical standby like Peter or Daniel or Thomas? Nobody is going to mistake a Mark or a David for a girl. But Providence? On the feminine side, to me Jubilee sounds like a stripper. And I went to school with a Virginia who got nicknamed Vagina. But I guess that's not an issue if you are homeschooling.

Ironically, if you go to the website, the "All American Boy's Crossbow" is also listed under the girl's outdoor section, despite the name. Even his theology bends under the desire to have people give him money.

It's funny that Dougie is so anti-Europe when he keeps showing things from European history like knights and world wars. My husband's Italian relatives have shared gems with my children such as "A man is only as happy as the women in his home." It is almost like what Doug is teaching, except the spin is less "protect teh poor, helpless females" and more "just wash the fucking dishes, okay?" I guess the Italians are doing it wrong?

I notice how he doesn't really address how this is supposed to work if your sons don't have younger sisters. Like, in a family like the Coghlans where the oldest boy is 5-6, but he has a couple of adult sisters. Are we really expecting the small child to "defend" adults just because he has a penis?
