New Vision Forum Catalog

If someone else has posted about this, sorry for the repeat. However, in my mailbox today was VF's latest 2013 Catalog...just in time for the Christmas-OOPS---they don't do Christmas, it is too pagan...it is just a coincidence that their catalog comes out in time for them to make all kinds of money from those who do celebrate. Anyway...this particular catalog is, in my opinion, darker and more disturbing than the past few years. Here are a few tidbits:

1. Beall has a hot new look. She has dropped a few pounds, is sporting a blonde spiffy hairdo, and looks younger than usual.

2. In the family photo, Dougie the Mighty is sitting between Beall and his oldest daughter. Both Beall and the daughter are holding Dougie's hands and it looks exactly like he has two wives. You can't tell by body language or posture which woman is the wife, except by age and guesswork, or knowing the family already. The same family photo has their son Justice with quite a smirk of almost disdain on his face...like he doesn't want to be there. It would be hard to follow Joshua the gorgeous, Joshua the hot hunk, Joshua the one all the interns want to sit by. Poor Justice doesn't stand a chance.

3. There is a real hard push for DOMINION of the globe. They missed the crusades, they missed Westward expansion and the Indian Wars, they missed the interesting wars like the Civil War and World War II. The poor things. So now they have to make up for it by getting dressed up and either pretending they were there, or going on treks around the world to defeat Darwinism, and Marxism, and Socialism and all those other pesky isms out there trying to get us, y'all.

4. There is a hard push, also, to become physically fit and eat healthy. We can't let those pesky evil liberals who would promote local cooperatives and sustainibility get all the glory. No, they are evil Marxists. There is a huge emphasis on Marxism being the root of all our current ills. Anyway, woe to anyone who remains obese or out of shape. If you are you are disgracing the kingdom. Also, there is a bunch of quackery that states that if you do what they do, you won't be sick. You can eat your way and exercise your way to perfect health. So then if you stay sick it is your own damn fault. As a person who suffers from several autoimmune diseases, and believe me, I have tried every diet and health regimen imagineable and I still have the diseases, I still feel the sting of rejection and judgement from the fundie community. Since I didn't get better I was sinning or under God's judgement or just not "doing it right".

5. There is such an emphasis on the MEN. It is men, men, men rule over your women and children. Women, sit at home and look pretty and dainty and feminine. Learn how to write pretty with Mrs. Morecraft and learn how to eat pretty and sit pretty and be pretty and act all sweet. In the children's section the girls get the dolls and bows and ruffles and teacups and the boys have even more toys than usual to practice killing each other with. There are some new books for boys call Big Adventures with Little Jake. No Thomas the Tank Engine for our boys! No Kipper the Dog or Bob the Builder! No! Little Jake is out killing poor helpless animals. He brings down the "King of the Forest" and hunts rogue elephants (what the hell is a rogue elephant?) in the safari. One can never start to early to go out and kill things for Jesus. (I am not anti hunting, but these people are disgusting!) There is even a picture showing little Jake standing over his dead deer. He looks maybe five.

6. Repeating here. The "toys" were mostly things made to kill each other, or animals, or whatever. I understand that boys like that stuff..heck, I am a girl and I played cowboys with my brother and had my own little gun and holster...loved them. There is no balance with these folks. Even their "Lego" sets are to DEFEND YOUR HOMELAND. I felt like it was just some sort of Jesus washed Soldier of Fortune catalog.

So there are a few observations from this evil feminist, awash is Marxism.

Oh I can't WAIT to get mine  I remember when I got mine last year and it was just as interesting. I also got a chuckle out of the "Heritage Defense" ads in it. I went to look it up after seeing it and wondering what the heck it was, and it is just as ridiculous as I expected.

I actually have a lot of VF materials, when I was hardcore into fundy life I bought the Queen of the Home book, a few of the paper dolls for my daughter (that she tore to shreds, she knew better than me!), and that horrible book about Modesty (and the Public Undressing of America *sigh*), among other things. The best (worst) part are all the toys. The last one had a BB gun for girls but of course it was pink.

And it's ALWAYS about the men, meanwhile we wimmen just need to care about keeping ourselves looking ageless, feminine, and making sure we are at home and busy- oh and having tons of babies and making sure they KNOW what gender they are.

Someone will upload it for our snarking pleasure, yes?

I don't really want to pay to have it shipped to Canada...

ETA: autocorrect riffle

I hope you guys will be nice and post some pictures so those of us who can't order a catalogue can partake in the snark. Doug Phillips is a tool.

Oh my God! My kids were looking at the catalog (laughing hysterically all the while) but they noticed something I didn't...but it is soooo telling!! Totally removed is not only any of the token black man/family window dressing (Voddie B. and Jasmine)...but any people of color at all. Sure, they have a couple of black dolls still, but no black little girls or boys playing with the toys or joining in on the let's kill each other in the boy's toy section. No black people...anywhere. No hispanics. No nothing but the white folk. Jasmine B.'s book is still for sale but tucked well away and no longer has her picture beside it. Last year they had a large picture of her face by the book. They have a much stronger emphasis on "Western Civilization" and it's superiority. And also, in the book "Why and How to Prepare Men for 21st Century Hazards" by Doug Phillips, his first sentence in the description is that "America and Europe are on a trajectory for epic disaster". Hmmm...we wondered if he meant because of the integration of peoples from other parts of the world via immigration? Also, they have a book called the "Genius of Ancient Man" they talk about how ancient man wasn't primitive at all and that they were "genetically superior". That smacked of racism strongly...that is what all the white supremacists and kinists say. That humans were genetically superior before the "races began to mix" and introduced weakness, genetic problems, etc. I have not read the book and that might not be the direction they go at all, but suffice to say, there is a strong bent in those directions in the whole catalog.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Vision Forum very gradually developed some extreme kinist leanings but never just came right out and said it. There can't be that many minorities associated with VF, and no one else would really notice, or if they did they wouldn't say anything.

Yes you can! There's a link to enter an international address. I just ordered one sent to a friend in Canada.

Yeah, but you have to pay for it and I don't really want to give Dougie (aka the Tool) the money. I don't know if that's Minerva's issue though.

I think they already have. The trip to Haiti kind of sealed the deal as far as I could see. The slow but real "exorcism" of the Bauchams from the VF scene is happening already, and the Torres family is all but invisible. Other than those two families of color, the VF folks are lily-white and getting whiter by the minute.

Ha. Sevy has her own pink Cricket. Eat it, Vision Forum! (pink IS "the" color for her this year, last year it was purple).

I'm tempted to get a catalog.. might use the PO BOX address for that, I don't want that stuff coming to the house. Or I always can hit up my fundie-lite family members... hmm...

I must confess to being intrigued by Beall's sudden makeover. Any reason behind it? maybe Dougie wants to look like he has two wives? have they suddenly gone Poly? hmm.

Now off to go google more about Vision Forum. Am tempted to inflict their fortress somehow and find out what REALLY makes them tick, there HAS to be something behind all that "DOMINION" crap. Or I'm just ranting and raving out loud without making a lick of sense.

Do you think the Bauchams have noticed this? Are they just too proud to say anything about it?

The Bauchams have always seemed like 'smart' fundies to me so I imagine they've noticed. At the same time, what are they really going to say? I don't read Voddie's blog, but Jasmine's blog barely updates and is about her life (as it rightly should be) and her new job as a teacher at some classical school.

Not trying to derail the thread but a rogue elephant is an elephant who separates from the herd and roams alone. This elephant is vicious and aggressive. I remember watching a video about them in some biology class.

I think the Baucham family is smart enough that they've got Dougie's number. Notice how few speaking engagements with the VF crowd Voddie has, and how their books and products are being slowly phased out of the VF catalogue. I'm sure Voddie has noticed too. The Torres family was being touted as the proof that even moderate income families could still do the SAHD thing and be in the VF crowd, and they have vanished all together. I don't even remember seeing Lourdes Torres at the Titanic craptacular, and she used to be front and center at all those dress up events, because she's so pretty; she was Pocahontas at the Jamestown crap-fest, IIRC.

Voddie Baucham just won points with me after glancing at his website.

4.Bishop Jakes is an example of the worst the black church has to offer.

I'm pretty sure he knows the Vision Forum score.

Aw! I'm so sorry it's not in PDF as was last year's. Not about to give them the satisfaction of having my name and address to add to their claims of having so many followers. EVerybody else have at it, though, I'm not gonna judge!

OK, on to business: I'm almost sure Lourdes was a singer at the WW2 DougFest in Europe. And just as almost-sure that she wore a maid's uniform at the TitanicPalooza.

Also, today's Doug's Blog touts VF's new Spanish-language efforts. Caramba and caca, I was hoping they'd ignore the Latino/Hispanic people and give those a chance to find real religion (or non-religion, I'm not gonna judge ;) )

Anybody else think the "D" on Doug PHillips' signature looks like a butt?

The re-invention of Beall is probably because she can. The late Tammy Faye Bakker and that pink-headed woman on TBN and Joyce Meyer and other female evangelists [sic] are pretty bold about the facts of having work done, and Doug and Beall certainly have the resources to make it happen.

Dyin' to see the family photo!

 He's so repressed he's started drawing dirty things without even realizing it. I love that I google "Doug Phillips signature" and the first thread is a yuku thread titled "Doug Phillips has a really girly signature".

Doug Phillips is a tool.

Can I use a fake name with my address? I don't like Doug Phillips is a tool knowing where I live, don't have a PO box, and would love to make the interns write out a name containing a subtle vagina reference.

Voddie Baucham is, quite simply, too smart to miss it - but that's assuming he hadn't initiated the split himself, perhaps as the result of an impasse with Doug Phillips over a specific piece of doctrine.

If Phillips initiated a split between the Bauchams and VF for any reason but the most pressing, then he has done his company a disservice.

I do not share Voddie Baucham's theology, obviously, but I can still appreciate how valuable such a forceful and charismatic voice is for the Dominionist cause. His daughter, Jasmine, is also highly valuable as an intelligent and passionate defender of the stay-at-home daughter movement.

IIRC, Dougie waits a few months after the latest VF catalog has been released in print, then makes it available on the website. Not to worry, there will be an opportunity for all to peruse Beall's new 'do, along with the commercial worship of men men men men men. (The fact that Dougie invokes the memory of Ernest Shackleton pisses me off, big time. Somehow, I don't think Shackleton would be pleased.)

MJB is correct - Lourdes Torres was one of the singers during Dougie's WWII junket. She and her mother Carmen were also featured at last summer's "Reformation of Food and Family" conference, demo-ing the making of a raw key lime pie. And, if you look closely at the latest wedding pix on the Serven Clan's blog, there she is near the getaway car. The Torres family is still hanging in there in Dominionist land, albeit in a low profile kind of way.

I am very tempted to order a catalog, just so I can see this all for myself. But I'm too afraid one of my neighbors, or even my kids or husband will see it, and think I've lost it.
