WTF?? to the bolded

JUST NOW

Family support

When Anna and Josh Duggar walked in, they gave each other a hug, according to the Sun reporter.

Anna saw Jill (Duggar) Dillard and gave her a hug as well.

Josh, the reporter noted, went back to the gallery to give Jill a hug and to shake her husband Derrick Dillard's hand.

Justin Duggar was also seen hugging Jill, and the family members seemed "happy" to see her, with the reporter noting that everyone was complimenting her new hair.

I think that's the kind of shit people get used to doing and it is easier to just do it vs. refusing to shake a hand etc.  Especially in a community that places SO much importance on appearance and in a formal setting like a courthouse.

Considering what Derrick said to people yesterday, I'm impressed Josh attempted to hug Jill.

For those who missed it - Derrick told people that there is no reasonable doubt, just unreasonable doubt.  (He also said he'd be here today, but Jill wouldn't be, so it may be all made up).

Denial and “don’t make a scene” are strong in this crew.

Totally agree. They aren’t going to make a scene because they were taught from a young age to bottle up their emotions. They spent their lives on tv. It is probably second nature to them.

I like JB’s God-Honoring Hairpiece

Why does that not surprise me, considering how many of his sons have receding hairlines?

Lol at the photo of Boob's hair.  Josh has now officially ruined it all.  The brand? Done. Boob's political ambitions? Over. The belief that Boob truly had natural Ken-like hair? Destroyed!

What a time to be alive!

The hair grift will never be the same again!

I'm a few pages behind and I've been silently following along the past few days.

I'm really rooting for Jill/Derick, Joy/Austin...

I've been rooting for Jill since she sent her kids to public schools but this and being put through the possibility of testifying against her abuser...

I hope they find the same comfort in therapy that I do. My abuse was emotional/physical only but the day I realized I didn't have to suppress negative emotions and could be angry at my abusers was a great day.

Hopefully he's found guilty and his sisters are never forced to see him again.

I'm getting the vibe based on the reported interactions that the family don't see a lot of Jill, or at least some of them. I guess they have been a bit busy and Jill probably didn't want to risk communicating with them whilst the trial was on.

Covid is the perfect excuse to be able to refuse unwanted hugs in a polite way, definitely the option I'd have taken.

This.  And it's not just fundies.  At my mom's funeral we were civil to her abuser and hugged some of his enablers...the don't make a scene thing is super hard to overcome.  The other part of it was I knew if I was openly shitty to them it would have hurt my siblings who were desperate to not deal with it and just get the day over with.

We went NC with all of them the second we left.  It's super hard.  I just cannot fucking believe Josh had the nerve to do it.  Please tell me the jury wasn't seated when this happened.

Have they finally got Jed and Jason the right way round?  Everyday this week, they've being saying Jed is Jason and then correcting themselves.  I actually think Jason has been there all week.

Yes, it's been Jason, Jed! has not attended the trial so far. It's quite easy to distinguish between Jason and Jed when somebody ist standing next to either of them. Jed! is really quite tall, if not the tallest Duggar, while Jason is on the shorter side.

So NONE of the married brothers have shown up in court?  Since JB seems to have family attending in rotation, this seems peculiar  to me. Maybe they are pulling headship cards?

Also, is it just me or is there some requirement in the GOP platform that men running for office as Republicans have to have hairstyles that resemble some sort of life size cotton swab?

I am mostly estranged from part of my family, but when I do see them, my instinct is to still greet hem with a hug or accept the hug that is offered Becuase it is what was trained into me for so long. I think in a high-pressure situation like court, it would be even more instinct before you don’t want to be seen as rude/hostile.

Court is like that though and Josh maybe did that on purpose.  Did the jury see that?

After watching Ahmud Aubrey's parents in court recently,  you just have to behave if you want to stay in the courtroom, no matter how much you want to scratch out the eyes of the men who killed your child.

As prosecutor Carly Marshall gave her closing argument, the Sun reporter noted that the mood in the courtroom felt "very sad" in regards to the Duggar family.

Jill (Duggar) Dillard looked emotional and her husband, Derick Dillard, had his arm around her.

Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth also looked sad and her husband, Austin Forsyth, was "staring into space," the reporter revealed.

Closing arguments

On Wednesday morning, closing arguments in the Josh Duggar trial began.

First, the judge read off jury rules, before the prosecution's Carly Marshall began her argument.

"Is this really a who done it?" she asked. She noted that all the evidence pointed to Josh Duggar receiving, viewing, possessing, and deleting child sexual abuse material.

She noted to the jury that it was a case of facts, evidence, and common sense.

I don’t know how i generally feel about Austin but given the opportunity i have no doubt he would punch the smugness out of both Josh and JB.

Jill looks great, Joy looks scared and lost.  I am glad they have their partners supporting them.

Anna - take your kids and run girl.  He cheated on you, molested his sisters, watched child porn.  what on earth are you sticking around for.

What a time to be alive!

Indulge my fantasy for a moment....the boys didn't know he wore a piece and are now enraged he didn't get them fitted as balding teenagers and this is what causes the rebellion.  I know it's not true, but it would entertain me so much.

Carly Marshall continues

Marshall noted that the jury had heard testimony from Amber Kalmer about May 14, 2019, and the log the jury was shown.

Potentially distressing

Spoiler

She noted that Kalmer detailed a video of two minors with one engaging in child sexual abuse.

Marshall showed stills of the video and went on to note Kalmer made a connection the next day with the same IP address and obtained 65 images from a known child sexual abuse material video, before showing images to the jury
