Would Anna even know what she was looking at if she saw those sites on a report from Covenant Eyes? How sophisticated is the program, would it even capture info from the dark web.  I am so disgusted I can’t even process this.

It couldn't capture what was access on a different hard drive partition than it was installed on.

I'm not angry he's going to be let out. I would have loved if he'd been kept in jail but based on what the more legally aware people have said it seems like it was fair to release him. I don't trust his custodians at all though. Or Anna. I don't think they are willing to admit or accept the gravity of Josh's crimes or the danger he could be to himself (the guns in the home make me very nervous). My hope is that he violates the terms of his release in a way that doesn't harm others and gets himself thrown back in jail.

He’ll Josh is living his dream - No kids to deal with - Sweetheart visits from Anna - Mrs Reaver waiting on him with a hot breakfast, snacks and amazing Midwest dinners.

Also how are they going to make sure he is not exposed to minors at Church since it seems like he is allowed to go to Church? So many thoughts on all of this.

Honestly I'm not that interested in the Covenant Eyes thing except that this proves it's useless for the people who need it most (bet the company doesn't love that they're now associated with someone who downloaded CP). A ton of men in their community use Covenant Eyes even if they've never had a porn addiction, so that alone wouldn't seem suspicious to me, and Josh would be very aware that any porn-related activity would be sent to Anna so I suspect he just always got around it and she didn't get anything too awful in the reports.

Exactly this.  The court system validated that everything is hunky-dory for their pray and preach supervision.  I don't know how he kept from laughing when they said Anna would supervise him with the kids.

Oh, there's no way this was his first time accessing these kinds of images. Installing a partition, downloading Tor, finding the sites that host those images...that takes planning and research.

Who told him/taught him how to do that? I don't know that's something you can just google... and would covenant eyes catch a google search like that? Does it send everything to the monitoring person?

It sounds like he is not allowed to leave the custodians' home. Their adult daughter must teach piano lessons at a different location, and the firearms removed from the home, as there is no gun safe. They are to somehow keep him from accessing internet...how? Locking his bedroom at night and giving him a chamber pot?

I can just imagine the smug expression on his stupid face and I’d love to smack him!

You can totally figure out how to partition a hard drive by googling if you are somewhat adept at tech.

If it was just straight up porn, okay and addiction is bad, especially since you have a family but at least it is legal. CP isn't disgusting beyond words.

Oh i totally agree. I was just saying that at least at this time all the evidence actually sugest Anna not knowing of him viewing CP. The fact he had Covenant Eyes could easily be explained by them thinking he had a "normal" porn addiction. By the way i doubt Anna was reviewing his internet access thoroughly every day anyway. Maybe the first months but who has time for that when she has 7 children.

So I looked Covenant Eyes up and apparently it just periodically screenshots what's on the device, blurs any potential nudity, and forwards them in a report to the accountability partner.

And on some devices it only works if you use their browser.

So easy to get around.

@justoneoftwore: pretrial release: Right, unless you are a low-income person of color who can't afford to pay bail.  The system often says "fuck you" in that case.  But if you are a white male entitled asshole like Josh Duggar, yup, pretrial release for you.  The system is broken.

Yup.  So, so broken.

I googled it and found the suggestion to use Linux within literally seconds, ironically in a comment on the covenant eyes website itself. I'm sure Josh has had periods of time on other devices when he wasn't monitored.

Yep. I did it to my laptop as a high schooler from instructions I Googled because I wanted to mess with Linux. Not anything that requires an IT pro by any means.

100% agree. I kinda got mad seeing the never done drugs are alcohol as reasons he should be released. I've done both but I'm a hell of a lot better for the community than he is.

If you could an edible as a drug I'm doing both NOW and although society is quiet safe from me, good to know there is one litmus test for the courts where Smuggar is the better person.

I will say it's easy to partition a drive (I see Buffy Nellie's just responded to say the same) and TOR, likewise, is pretty easy to get and figure out. I used TOR a long time ago as I was concerned about privacy and being tracked, but once I realised it was used for things like Dark Web access I dropped it - I'd rather be tracked than be associated with the Dark Web.

The searches to figure out how to do these things likely wouldn't trigger any issues with Covenant Eyes, they're just tech things and aren't automatically linked to the vile uses that have been outlined today.

Covenant Eyes is pretty standard issue at most religious colleges. It's basically scans your screen for explicit images and sends a report to your accountability partner. It's not actually a filter. https://www.covenanteyes.com/

This.  IT pro here and I could walk a non-computer savvy person through it in under an hour.  When I did it to mess with Linux for work it was google and 20 minutes which included the install time and config.

There is no computer whiz needed here.

I can't figure out how the Josh supporters in the family are going to spin this given that the password was the same and knowledge of the graphic details announced... I wasn't ready to read those details and I'm not sure how the "sheltered" Duggars are going to react.
