My late BFF David and I used to get multiple beef and cheddars and binge watch 90210. He died in his sleep recently. After fighting HIV successfully for 25 years, he could not find it in him to fight cancer.

Some things call for a beef and cheddar with extra Arby’s sauce.

I'm sorry for your loss.

To any lawyer here...could Josh's question "Why? Did someone download CP?" be considered an spontaneous or excited utterance?

It doesn't need to be. Any statement by the defendant is admissible as the statement of a party opponent. Assuming this was before he asked for the lawyer--not sure where that goes since he wasn't arrested yet.

Also, I think it was his iPhone that he said was used by other family members. My daughter plays on my phone all the time. But I don't THINK she would look at CSA.

I don't know why everybody thinks this. This being called a "close call" for a case like this is extremely unusual. Presumed innocence is a good thing in the legal system. The length of the hearing and the closeness of the call all point to the strength of the evidence the prosecution has provided.

Getting bail/bond is normal because we've decided that it is not right to hold somebody for a crime they haven't been convicted of. It's frustrating here (but only because we feel we know these people better than the magistrate), but it's the right decision for the system overall.

Yeah, I'm so thrown off by people's reactions here and the complaints about the U.S. "justice" system. You guys really thought he wasn't going to be bonded? That's pretty standard. Sadly, there are a lot of people in court for a lot of really terrible things.

It doesn't suggest at all that he's going to win his case. I'm wondering if people here are expecting him to get the electric chair and will be shocked at anything less.

And we all know Anna will be a shit chaperone, but having the other parent of the children supervise seems pretty standard to me.

As for Covenant Eyes, that was installed for his legal porn issues. Just because he watched CSA doesn't mean he didn't also watch consensual adult porn. I think Josh watched a shit ton of porn, frankly. The vast majority of which he hid from Anna.

So untill the trial date (July, right? ), Josh is pretty much free to do whatever he wants? How many lies will he tell to get by with Lord only knows what? He thinks he's above all the rules, so I have no doubt it won't take long. Do you think he'll make it through May?  I dont either.

Love the Halloween cats!

I read an article that said the Josh’s custodial couple have been friends of JB and Michele about five or six years. So no long-time friends want take on their mess. The husband must be getting something from JB for agreeing to,supervise Josh.

I don’t see how anyone would want to take piano lessons from the wife now.

Ginger and the Void! My fave superhero duo!

I can’t thank you enough for posting this picture I was just thinking that I need kitty cat cuteness to get everything I have rolling around in my head out of my head.

The fact that I once also had a jet black cat (Krackers) and a huge ginger tomcatt (Oscar - who  adopted my mom and I and convinced us that he needed to move in) was a gentle reminder of a better time.  The only thing missing was my silverish coloured Friskie.  He looked almost exactly like Sylvester of “I thought I saw  a puddy  tat” fame.  Unless you have another cat hiding around your place LOL

Edit: I get everybody's frustration over the way racial and class disparity plays out in our system but I believe that the solution to this is that Rich White Men get the treatment that is most aligned with the values we've called humane, and that the answer is not to punish the Rich White Man more, but to punish the Poor Nonwhite Everybody less.

Having heard the evidence against him and what he's accused of having, he will absolutely  be convicted. I'm not saying anything but the CSA he downloaded is infamous for being thr worst of the worst. I'm trying not to punch the wall, thats how angry i was when i heard what it was.  And he did a sloppy job hiding it. And the feds have a high conviction rate. He's going down. If his lawyer was smart he'd tell him to plead out.

The reddit transcript says that the last four digits of the password were his birth year.  The sites reporting that "the password was the last four digits of his birth year" got it backwards and didn't proofread for sense.

Covenant Eyes is known to flag false positives.  However it takes a picture of your screen every minute and sends a random selection (blurred) to the accountability partner.  But preventing programs from running on a PC is pretty easy.

You can totally figure out how to partition a hard drive by googling if you are somewhat adept at tech.

You don't even need to do that.  User friendly Linux installers offer it as a standard option.  You only have to tell it that you want to keep your existing operating system beside Linux and choose how big a partition you want to give it with a slider.  Though you don't actually have to install it to a hard drive to use it.

I can only speak for myself, but I was hoping he wasn't going to be bonded, but I was prepared for it. They complaint I would have about the justice system is not that a man who hasn't been convicted is being released, but rather that poor people of color don't seem to get the same treatment.

He’ll Josh is living his dream - No kids to deal with - Sweetheart visits from Anna - Mrs Reaver waiting on him with a hot breakfast, snacks and amazing Midwest dinners.

Does he get to have conjugal visits? Good God.

I don't know why, but it struck me as very sad that Josh's computer wallpaper was a picture of his wife and kids. Something about the fact that he bothered to put that on the computer is just terribly tragic to me. Almost like a what could have been if he were not a monster. Yes, it's a small detail but to me it says something in a Shakespearian way. Those poor innocent children...

I have five cats, the ginger and void are my youngest, the other three are gray tabbies though. ^_^ They range in age from 10 years old to 9 months old.

If only they didn't join that cult. I still suspect he was molested at some point in his youth. Its not an excuse but many molesters and CP addicts have something like that in their pasts.

I know I sound naive but I didn't know the depth of human depravity like this. I've actually cried about this today. I am very triggered. This is a lot for me to process and I can't bother my friends and family about it.

I am so sorry. I too was shocked to read about that infamous case in the Philippines. Virtual hugs. ♥️

I think it is just shock and horror.

Most rational people agree that our system is preferable to one in which a defendant is assumed guilty and the burden of proving guilt weighing so heavily only the state, when it works, it the fairest system in the world. I would prefer by miles to place the burden of proof of guilt on the shoulders of the state than on the backs of defendant no matter the crime.

Putting this under a spoiler for mention of a disturbing type of legal porn that Josh watched.

Spoiler

They also found that he had accessed violent porn: specifically rape porn. I shudder to think that a man like this was around kids.

I am in an apartment building that doesn’t permit pets.  And I’m not in a situation where I want to sneak one in because well the property management company that owns my building kicks people out for having pets.

Can you do me a favour for your 5  fur babies?  My fur babies shared a can of tuna often.  Can your babies have one from their  far away “Auntie” Browneyed Girl?   Just because it’s been the kind of day it has?
