I whooped, I yelled "play it, boys!" at the band, I'm so happy.

My clock said 11:50. Do you think Sidney Powell is already working on a lawsuit stating that they need to remove Biden because they made him president 10 minutes early?

Ha - I bet MTG has got her impeachment papers ready as she said they needed to impeach Biden on day one.

Come on lunatic, show us the draft.

Loving the shade PRESIDENT Biden just threw. He referred to the previous presidents present, and Carter who is unable to attend, as patriots.

And it's not empty platitudes - he's pulling no punches.

The moment President Biden finished his oath, I felt hundreds of pounds lighter. Such a relief.

I can't believe it is finally over. I know we have a lot of work to do yet, but hopefully this is the start of actually being better.

Interesting info about the bibles used today:

Quote

Biden placed his hand on a Bible that has been in his family for 127 years. The Bible is a family heirloom, according to the inaugural committee, and is five inches thick, with a “sturdy leather cover and metal clasps.”

Biden, who is Catholic, has used the same Bible to be “sworn into every elected office in his career of public service,” inaugural officials said. Inside the Bible, there are inscriptions of the dates of each of his swearing-in ceremonies.

Harris used a Bible that once belonged to civil rights icon Rosa Parks. The Bible has markings of Parks’s maternal family tree and notes milestones such as family births, marriages and deaths that go back to the late 19th century. Parks’s mother, Leona Edwards, and Parks’s maternal grandparents are mentioned in the Bible.

When it arrived at the Library of Congress, it was in fragile condition, and “many pages were torn.” Experts restored it in 2015. Officials said Parks’s Bible is “a rare version of what is known as the ‘Holman Bible.’”

The Bibles that are used in inauguration ceremonies often have a special meaning. Trump used two Bibles — one that his mother had gifted him in 1955 when he graduated from Presbyterian Sunday school and the one President Abraham Lincoln used at his inauguration.

If this speech is anything to go by, it most assuredly is.

Somebody translate, what did JLO say?

The last bit was "liberty and justice for all" according to my co-worker who can speak spanish.

My boss is watching the inauguration and I slipped in there in time to see the swearing in and the first few minutes of Biden's speech.

And now it is officially after noon and Trump is no longer president. Good riddance!!!

I never thought he was going to be gone as long as he was.

Words are easy. I hope, as a country, we can live up to who President Biden thinks we can be.

The most surprising things to me in the article quoted above about the Bibles is that 1) Trump actually owns one and 2) Trump graduated Sunday school (presumably without using his allowance to bribe someone else to do it in his place).

And I'm going to try not to even think about the cheeto at all for at least the rest of the day. He's gone, past, irrelevant, buh bye.

True. But hope and good intentions are powerful motivators. You'll get there.

Just that alone means we've moved into the light.  Having a leader who thinks we can be better...a leader who sees the good.
