It's Inauguration Day 2021!

Here's how I feel today:

I'm nervous and excited at the same time.  Shaking a bit, too, and kind of distracted.  I hope everything goes well...

Tomorrow I will probably be back to my old cynical self, but today I am so damn happy - and hopeful!  Congratulations and Good Luck, Joe and Kamala!  Thank you for being willing to step into the shitshow your predecessors are leaving behind.  It is a monumental job, but I have confidence in you and your allies.  (Jamie  Raskin is my new hero!)

My daughter made a newspaper this morning. Her headline reads: "Joe Biden is new president. People are happy."

Jamie Raskin is wonderful. He is my rep and I’ve had a crush on him since I first went to hear him speak soon after ? ? was sworn in.

Mimosas to be made (and drunk at 12 eastern) and many happy tears to be shed today. I will be honest that I won’t completely relax until they are both sworn in!

I’m supposed to be working today, so as much as I want to raise a glass at noon, it will have to be non-alcoholic.  
I muted the tv during the orange monster’s final speech.  Then as I watched those two cretins board the plane, I couldn’t help but mentally compare it to taking out the trash.  Good riddance.

I have  never been so happy to see a plane take off. That's the only part of the cretin I watched today and it gave me great peace & joy.

Yay! My family and I have not been able to bring ourselves to go in there since the soggy Cheeto was installed. I'm still hoping that cast members there are able to quietly switch out his flag pin for a Russian one or put a McDonald's cup in his hand or something, and I hope they move him off WAY to the side, in the shadows, and make his face look like those petulant toddler pics you see of him with his arms crossed and pouting.

In that field of flags, there's some flags that are laid out in an irregular manner that I can't quite make out because I'm watching on a very small screen due to moving today. Can anyone tell what that is? It looks like it might be a land mass maybe.

My partner isn't up yet, and I am so chuffed that I actually managed to set up the main TV to show the inauguration. (Our video setup is fiendishly complex.) 

I've practice yoga today and am happy that I live in a time zone where I will see the inauguration before I have to leave to go to dog agility class.

I took today off.  However, I’ve had Sunny at the vet to have a spot looked at.  So I was listening to CNN via Sirius  for an hour in the car.

Ok. Almost end of workday for me. In a couple of minutes I’ll be shutting down my work laptop and switch to my home one. After that I’ll be glued to the screen until the inauguration is over.

This is the first time ever I’ll be live watching the American inauguration.

It’s amazing how much I’m looking forward to it.

I loved watching the Obamas walk together - they have such a "we're comfortable with one another" vibe.

W had a twinkle in his eyes, but Laura Bush looked worried.

It's harder to see on the men, but some of the women wearing pastel or bright colors look like their coats don't button right. I wonder how many people are wearing Kevlar vests.
