Sean Spicer: King of Alternative Facts

What do you know, Spicer may have actually recouped a bit of respect (and self--respect). Scaramucci's shenanigans have already proven that Spicer made a good decision in quitting when he did.

Did not care for how Spicer handled things with the press and at times it got pretty pathetic, thinking of the hiding in the bushes thing.

However, I do think resigning was probably the best thing he could have done.  Namely for himself.  He was in an no win situation anyway and he had to have known it would be a matter of time that he would have been booted out over something.  Working in the WH must be an daily exercise in navigating a minefield for all of the staff.

He probably got out in time, the WH job damaged his reputation but it would have been worse if he hung in there.  This way, he can still regroup and more importantly, he's clear of the blast zone that has to be the WH these days with DJT raging all the time.

Well if Rick Perry could be on it why not Spiceypoo?

Who could forget Tucker Carlson on Season 14?  Oh wait, we all could, because he was the first one voted off.

So correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he still technically employed there? I thought there was some "I'll still be around for the transit some such shit..." As opposed to be escorted out with your brown cardboard box under your arm?

Yeah, he said he would be around to make a smooth transition for The Moocher.  But with the Moocher out already, it seems that things are in such chaos that maybe there's not much to do as far as a "smooth transition".    On paper he may still be employed there, but is not showing up as it's probably pointless.

Not to Spicer. :pb_lol:  And @onekidanddone, I thought I saw here that Moochie was indeed escorted out. And as for Priebus, they probably drove him straight from the tarmac to a rehab facility.

I don't know about Priebus, but The Mooch was escorted out. It was reported in multiple news outlets. Spicey is still around, ostensibly to help with the "transition". I saw him in the background of a couple of pictures this week.

I looked for an article about Moochy poo but couldn't find one. Could you post some links? Spicer is still around? Ultimate humiliation.

"Sean Spicer still plans to leave White House, official says"

Spoiler

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sean Spicer still plans to leave the White House in late August, a senior White House official said on Tuesday, ending speculation that he might stay on after the firing of former communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

President Donald Trump's decision to hire Scaramucci less than two weeks ago prompted Spicer to resign in protest.

Scaramucci lasted only 10 days in the job. He was fired on Monday after a profanity-filled tirade against then-White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist Steve Bannon.

Spicer has since been fielding lucrative offers for his post-White House life and has found them too appealing to forsake, the official said.

Trump appointed his homeland security secretary, retired General John Kelly, to succeed Priebus after ousting him as chief of staff last week.

A senior homeland security official said Kelly is considering bringing veteran government spokesman David Lapan with him to the White House as communications director.

So, even though the Mooch is out, Spicey isn't staying.

And probably for a lot more money and definitely a lot less stress.  Can't say I blame him.  I'll miss Melissa McCarthy though.  She was hysterical as Spicey.

Meanwhile he's setting up a hidden bunker in the basement of the White House. There will be a tunnel to the outside so he can come and go undetected and he will broadcast from an "undesignated location" for Faux News. It will drive Trump insane.

Well, there are tunnels from under the WH...

I think Spicey going to work for CNN or MSNBC would send the TT over the edge.

The tunnels remind me, I need to see if the movie "Dave" is on Netflix. I feel like I really need to watch it.

I pulled out my Dave DVD, and made chocolate chip cookies a while back. Near the end of the movie when the new president is being sworn in, the narrator says that he is the 45th president.

It seems that the spectre of Trump looms everywhere. :pb_sad:

No Spicey on DWTS. Darn.

Spoiler

Sorry, “Dancing With the Stars” fans, you won’t see Sean Spicer waltzing across your TV screen anytime soon.

The former White House press secretary turned down an offer to join the cast of the show for its 25th season, because of an “overwhelming number of commitments in the fall,”  TMZ quoted a source as saying. There was no explanation of what those commitments might entail.

Another theory suggests Spicer could be saving himself from humiliation. “He’s not a good dancer,” the TMZ source said. Perhaps he’s learned from Rick Perry’s mistakes: the now-Energy Secretary was voted off in the second week during his run on the show last year.

I can't imagine it would be more humiliating than working for the TT.

More opportunity for people to judge him. I think he's feeling he needs a break from that for a while.

But "overwhelming number of commitments in the fall"? Puh-leez! :pb_rollseyes:

Sean Spicer supposedly wants to try his hand at comedy:

Quote

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is itching to play himself on Saturday Night Live after quitting his Trump administration job.

[...]

This week, sources told Us Weekly that Spicer is now “angling” to take a crack at showing off his own comedic skills.

“He is asking people about getting on — it was his idea!” one source told the publication.

"Sean Spicer finally got to meet Pope Francis"

Spoiler

Sean Spicer got his chance to meet Pope Francis this week after once being denied the opportunity.

Spicer, who is Catholic, was serving as President Trump’s press secretary when Trump traveled to the Vatican in May. But Trump didn’t include Spicer in the contingent that held a private audience with Francis — a group that included the president’s family members, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and two more State Department officials, communications adviser Hope Hicks, bodyguard-turned-White House official Keith Schiller and social media director Dan Scavino.

At the time, some White House watchers speculated that Trump purposely left out his press secretary, who was on shaky ground. And many commentators said they felt bad for Spicer, who attends Mass regularly and would have been deeply moved to meet the pope.

On Sunday, Spicer got his chance.

Official Vatican photographs show that he was one of dozens of people involved in governments around the world whom Francis personally greeted at the International Catholic Legislators Network meeting, as America magazine reported.

Spicer, who did not respond to a message seeking comment about his latest Vatican visit, resigned his position as press secretary two months after the trip with Trump. He quit in protest of Trump’s appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as communications director; Scaramucci remained in that job for just 10 days.

I'm glad he finally got the chance. Of course, it would never have happened if he continued serving the TT.

Me too. Maybe eventually he can recover from attempting to work for Trump.
