Hmm, true. It would oversimply things a bit if too many people were killed by saying Voldy's name.

And didn't he hide his true heritage from his Death Eaters? I was always under the impression that none of them knew he was descended from a muggle. Goes back to that Hitler thing again - he didn't want anyone knowing he had Jewish blood.

About Josie, I've always speculated that she does get interventions, but perhaps not as often as we might like, since she travels for the show and may miss appointments. I've always thought there might be too many questions asked if she didn't have therapy. And then there are times in the past where Jim Bob and Michelle have been gone, but one of the oldest ones stayed home with Josie, maybe tobe sure she made her appointments?

Josie should have been followed by a PT at the very minimum, from the time she came home from the NICU. Even if she had no delays (which is not possible as you don't expect a 6 month old who is only 2 months past their due date to be sitting etc), she should have been followed by a PT to catch them early should they crop up. My 29 weekers had their first PT appointment within weeks of coming home. They were followed until they started walking around 15 months actual age (12.5 adjusted).

It is completely possible that Josie has caught up, but it is more likely given her gestational age at birth that she has delays. They say preemies catch up by 2 years old because there is less difference between a 2 year old and a 2 years 4 month old than there is between a 4 month old and 8 month old. But there are plenty of delays that take longer to catch up, if they catch up at all.

All I hope is that they're getting her the help she needs, if she needs it. Getting physical, speech or occupational therapy doesn't mean she isn't a perfect miracle baby. In my opinion, it's a god damn miracle that a baby can be born at 25 weeks (Josie) or 2lb (mine) and survive.

Because retarded isn't just stupid, it's usually shit-your-pants-as-an-adult, drool-the-fuck-over-everything, make-weird-groaning-noises-while-slapping-your-leg, too stupid to talk, walk, or even feed oneself, stupid. Not all retards are that stupid, but many are. That's why no matter what you replace the word retard with, people will always use the new word to mean really super dooper stupid. I guess I could,d say "IQ under fifty" to get the same point across, but I don't have any respect for people who get offended by words then try to make everyone stop saying them.

Edited to add that Stephen hawking can't walk, talk, feed himself because his body broke, not because he's too stupid. Totally different. I have respect for people whose bodies betrayed them.

The only way this could happen is once the ministry had fallen into the Death Eaters hands in order to implement the taboo. Hence why Voldemort's name could be used freely before Bill & Fleur's wedding but afterwards would summon Death Eaters to the person who said the name (Kingsley was almost caught this way).

That's fascinating! I had to google Mastermind because I'd never heard of it before. I have a friend who recently compiled and submitted a thesis based on the mythos of Eldritch Abominations (the ones seeking to destroy humanity, anyway) - she could probably compete on Mastermind with her knowledge on that subject alone.

There is a better word that isn't offensive to people with disabilities, like myself. You can use intellectually disabled, developmentally disabled/delayed, and things along that line. Like, Josie could have an intellectual disability or a developmental delay. There is no excuse for using the word retarded.

The people who are offended by particular words are asking you to stop because it makes them uncomfortable and can be triggering to some. Refusing to do so is disrespectful, especially when you're continuing to use what is widely considered to be a slur.

So, can you please not?

I had been reading on the bates update thread that some people reckoned that one of the bates girls could be in a courtship with Cooper Dauer, but I didn't think much of it.

BUT the duggar tumblr re blogged a load of pictures from Jill's wedding, and Cooper is in like LOADS of them, him with Jinger, him with guests, him and his parents with jim boob and j'chelle, and loads of his mum (is it Marci?) and jinger. I'm probably really over thinking it all, but they are around the same age, and it just really stood out there were so many pics. Another tumblr user sent an ask about them maybe being in a courtship so that made me feel a little less crazy :lol:

Ugh. I really hope not. That guy is a super creeper. Jinger deserves so much better than that. He also seems like he would be easily to be controlled by Boob, which would suck for Jinger. Cooper is the highest level of leghumper. He would do anything Boob wanted him to just to stay in his good graces.

If this is the case are the Duggars getting more desperate to marry their girls off? I think Derrick is decent, but Ben is a complete douche, and Cooper seems like a stalker creep.

I find it weird that the girls (women) have to ask permission to hold hands with a guy they've been courting, but can put their arms around any guy who wants a picture.

I'm actually wondering if Jinger would be able to say "no" to a guy touching her (side hug, etc) if she felt uncomfortable. If a guy snuck up there and wrapped his arm around her, would she just smile for the camera? I feel like the girls might be too dependent on Jim Bob for saying "no".

Actually Cooper is VERY VERY religious. His family is part of the ATI crowd unfortunately. He's suppose to be some type of biblical prodigy. Learned to recite 26 verses of scripture at 2 years old and has national titles in speech and debate. That I would really like to see. I think Cooper wrote a book as well. So he's a brainy ATI kid, I mean, "young man". I SO hope he's not trying to court Carlin or Jinger. The fact that he likes to hug is the only thing I like about him at the moment.

First of all, the term "retard" is no longer an actual medical term. Second of all, WTF? You CLEARLY have not been around special needs children at all. Their bodies "betrayed" them too. Their brains "betrayed" them by making them developmentally delayed. You make it sound like they make a choice to act that way, while it is really not their fault at all. You need to learn up on this stuff stat, before you use the term " retard" in the wrong place and get the shit beat out of you.

Actually, Josie is 4 and half. She was born the day after my son. From what little I have seen of her(I don't watch the show much), she seems like a typical 4.5 year old to me. Very persistent with a strong personality. Of course, it is very hard to see on TV what she is really like, so it's hard for us to say if she has developmental delays. Some can be subtle that can only be seen when you spend a lot of time with the child.

But knowing that most kids born that early do have delays, I would sincerely hope they are getting her help.
