Ken Explains it All - Lori & Ken Alexander - Part 3

Recommended Posts

Lack of sleep, on its own, can affect your mood and functioning. I remember being in a perpetual fog when Girl 1 was a baby, because she wasn't a great sleeper.

That, in turn, makes you more vulnerable if there are other challenges at the same time. In my case, the lack of sleep was really hard, but it didn't progress to PPD because I was also overjoyed by having a desperately wanted baby, I had a good marriage with man who was a great father, we had stable housing, there was family in the city to help out, and I lived in an area with great resources for parents and tots including post-natal groups and drop-in play programs. In other words - there was enough stability and support to carry me through the sleep deprivation. If there had been a crisis, though, the sleep deprivation could have made it much, much worse.

Ken,

thanks for the five threads you have posted on. You are giving me tons of material for my argument research paper.
